Discovering an elevated Caribbean experience so close to home was definitely a win for summer 2026 shenanigans. We brunched at Kekoon for a birthday celebration. For $60, their brunch offers unlimited drinks and food. I dont know what I expected but the quality and flavor of the food caught me off guard. The Jamaican spread was delicious. From jerk chicken and pork to pepper shrimp, oxtail and dumplings. The pepper shrimp is a must try! Brunch drinks were Bellinis, mimosas, margaritas and rum punch. Pro tip: mix the Bellini with a little rum punch and thank me later Chef Ricardo was an absolute darling, making rounds to our table, to ensure we were ok. I have to mention Michael, the manager, going above and beyond to ensure we felt welcomed. He joined in on our birthday celebration and kept the vibe going with birthday shots. The DJ here was also incredible. Spinning hip hop, reggae, dancehall, soca, mixing it just right for the diverseness of the crowd. Hookah was also on point. A bit pricy but well made. The bathroom situation was a little disappointing. Two stalls in the female bathroom with only one working. Hopefully this is not a permanent situation and will be looked at soon. It took at least 30 minutes for the staff to even coordinate who was serving us and bring out water. Food orders took forever--some guests were already asking for to-go boxes by the time others were finally being served. One person in our group, Tasha, never received her food at all before we left. They initially offered her $10 off, but eventually comped it after she asked them to just take it back since everyone was leaving. ​As for the food, the flavor was good, but the execution fell short. I ordered the curry chicken, rice and peas, plantains, and tossed salad. The rice was hot, but the chicken was only lukewarm and the sweet plantains were cold. Instead of being hardheaded I should've listened to the prior reviews about the service here. Cocktails arrived 30+ minutes after they were ordered. Subsequent Beer never arrived and my date had to go to the bar and get it himself. Food took over 1 hour 15 mins to arrive. The waitress did the best she could but clearly this is the theme here. My sister and I wanted to step out for the night but didn't feel like going to a full on club just a nice lounge with good vibes. We came across Kekoon Restaurant & Lounge in Davie, FL and made reservations, which I highly recommend. The restaurant itself is very nice, with plenty of free parking, which is always a plus. Before we even walked in, we could hear the music from outside and already knew the vibes were going to be on point. Once inside, we were greeted by the hostess and, after a short wait, taken to our table and introduced to our waitress for the night. Our waitress, Ginger, was absolutely beautiful and took great care of us throughout the evening shoutout to her for the excellent service. Since it's a restaurant and lounge, we ordered drinks and appetizers for the table. The oxtail egg rolls were our favorite definitely a must-try. The coconut bang bang shrimp wasn't the best; it was falling apart. The salmon bombs were just okay, and the truffle fries weren't really truffling, if you know what I mean. The drinks were good, but the presentation and taste weren't consistent. We ordered two rounds. I had the Watermelon Pomegranate Cosmopolitan, and my sister ordered the blueberry Don Julio mint mojito and the dragonfruit margarita. One thing to note: there are no prices on the menu, so be prepared to spend money. Drinks were around $20, and a shot was $15, which felt a bit steep considering the location isn't beachfront. Around 11:30 p.m. midnight, a young lady came around offering hookah service. We ordered the blueberry mint hookah for $90, but unfortunately it started getting harsh after about 15 minutes. A quick restroom note: only one of the two toilets was working, and it had run out of toilet paper, which was disappointing especially since the place wasn't even packed. They would bring out 1-2 plates at a time. Our waitress was polite, but she didn't know menu prices, drink prices, food quality, or whether happy hour existed. Nearly every question was met with "I don't know" and she would walk away to ask someone else only to return without answers. They were pushing a new menu with no prices listed, which is unacceptable. Pasta was $25, drinks were $20, and the shots were tiny and overpriced. The drinks themselves were not impressive enough to justify the cost. Only the outside seating was open, despite uncomfortable temperatures. We were eventually allowed inside after complaining. We were told the restaurant was under new management and that the menu had been given to staff the same day, which unfortunately showed in the service. The food did taste good but portion sizes were not worth the prices, and the music and vibe were nice, but not nearly enough to make up for the wait times, confusion, and pricing. The food was delicious, drinks were not that well prepared, but great esthetics, and music that kept you dancing through the brunch. The only complaint is the waitress, whom are very slow, disengaging and should consider more effort in the service provided. Example: 30 mins wait for a drink, no fresh water with ice, no napkins or cutlery in my to-go order of the extremely small salmon bites which were an order of 3 for $25 which is a bit insulting. Dirty dishes piled up on our table for over 30 mins. The cost should include a min of 6 which it did not. The buffet was delicious but had limited food options for $50 per person. I came in for the first time on a week evening for a late dinner. When we sat we noticed that the menu was small and had no prices . Yikes ! Anywho we decided to stay. For drinks we had the lychee dragonfruit margarita 10/10 and Hennessy rum punch 10/10 but they took forever to arrive to the table. For starters we had the lobster fritters which I was imagining something completely different. It was not terrible but I didn't enjoy it. Beautifully decorated inside and out! Kekoon offers valet parking and ample self parking space. Security is present from checking bags at entrance and in moderation inside. The design of bar area to inside seating to patio seating shows the thought process behind the experience. Our party was present for a Bday celebration and were presented with seating options despite not having a reservation (initial spot did not follow up with that reservation and Kekoon was a great plan B). We opted to sit outside as the area had a DJ and was amenable to smoking. QR codes were placed on tables and a server also was present to answer questions. The main 4 star designation was due to discrepancy between menu on website and menu via QR code onsite. Also, many items were no longer available. I had already looked at menu (on website) and mentally ordered the tostones with crab meat appetizer and snapper filet meal. Unfortunately the snapper filet was not on QR menu! Smh. Opted for lobster sandwich with a side of festival. The tostones were good. I was advised by server that the crabmeat would be chilled and was still agreeable to try. It would have been better warmed, and the lobster sandwich was decent. Did not care for the fried lobster meat, but the taste was still good and festival was nice too. Others in my party had the oxtail pasta, oxtail meal with rice and peas, tequila salmon meal, and wings. So I came back but this time for Ladies Night on a Thursday and it was so unorganized. The main restaurant was closed so everyone was on the patio. I had reservations so we were able to sit down quickly. It took an hour for our drinks and food to come out, they literally had 1 bar tender servicing us all and it was pretty much a decent crowd. Once the drinks came out they brought me the wrong drink, we barely saw our waitress, a guy server ended up helping our table and bringing us drinks, thank god for him, the manager had to be called at one point because it was just too much going on. They had 2 djs, the 2nd one was amazing and interacted well with the crowd, he made the night much better. This time I tried the salmon sliders which were beyond delicious, I could eat them all day lol, the coconut shrimp and fries were okay. I'll probably be back but next time I'll know it will be a long wait. The energy was electric, the food looked like it belonged on a billboard, and the live reggae band set the tone just right. Rasta pasta... etc... fresh fruit and even some sweets. You can help yourself to the premade rum punch and mimosa station .... And when bottomless is done be served a la carts at the bar. Aesthetic venue, large parking area, good sound system but a little confusion at the door. People seemed to e having a great time and I know I did! Felt like a brunch in Brooklyn and I love to feel at home. The jerk chicken and crab were the highlights.... Food did run out and take a while in between... but it was made up for by the quality. The jerk chicken was horrible--very underseasoned and tasted like it had been cooked days in advance. The bammy was also disappointing. It was extremely oily, and that's all I could taste. Overall, the food was subpar and lacked the authentic Jamaican flavors I was expecting. I also ordered a drink that wasn't made correctly. When I politely asked if it could be changed, I was told that I couldn't exchange it, which was frustrating given that it wasn't prepared properly. From the food to the service, everything was lacking. Based on my experience, I don't believe this restaurant delivers an authentic Jamaican dining experience. The inside is beautiful. You are first welcomed by the lively sounds of island music. On one side, it had a beautiful, big pink tree. It's an eye-catching thing. The middle had a huge bar, and to the left, other nice sitting options and Kevin Hart, lol. The decor was nice. It definitely has an island atmosphere. We sat outside. The outside area was purple. It was, wow. It was unexpected and something to check out. The food was delish. I had the chicken with coconut jasmine rice. I loved that rice. Everything was good. What's even more shocking is that this happened on a Sunday night when the restaurant was practically empty - there was no excuse for the delay. The real kicker was that management was nowhere to be found. Our sweet and kind server was left to bear the bad news, and it was clear they were just as frustrated as we were. I have no complaints about the atmosphere, food, or overall environment. My biggest concern is the lack of transparency when it comes to pricing. Very few items on the menu--whether appetizers, entrees, or drinks--have prices listed, which makes it impossible to know what you're spending until the bill arrives. I've eaten here several times, and the final bill seems to vary significantly from visit to visit, even when ordering similar items. That creates the impression that pricing is inconsistent and leaves customers feeling blindsided at the end of the meal. My experience at Kekoon was from far amazing. From the lack of timeliness to the quality of service overall the visit was disappointing to say the least. Our bartender took over 30 minutes to make our drinks and our food was an additional 2 hour wait. Understandably our bartender's job description extended past their normal duties and included making hookah for the entire establishment which increased our drinks wait time. At 12 the DJ left unexpectedly and we were left to endure a YouTube mix. Overall, I would rate this experience a 2/10 and would not recommend this establishment as your first option. read more

They couldn't get a dollar out of me and my hard earned dollar again. I have a vendetta against this place now how mad I am Ruined our birthday dinner. I try and try to support and they tout the place as 'fine dining' and it is FAR beyond it! the service was so poor, the waitress is horrible! yall got good food but this girl dragged and forgot our stuff and food came out random and awkward. Nor cool. In these hard times our money matters and where we spend it, we are careful when we pick places and then to have this poop experience. Poop you hear me! Saturday night bday celebration! It's a vibe!!! Made a reservation for 7:30 pm on the website. Arrived at 7:40 to a line of folks waiting. Waited our turn, and seated right away. Be prepared. It's loud. The music hits soon as you hit the parking lot. Now. The selection was superb. Live DJ playing old and new reggae classics. Buju! Music got a little younger as the night continued. Not bad just younger. We sat on the side away from the DJ, again, loud. Not really conducive to talking. You will be shouting a bit across the table. The food. Really wanted the Ackee Cups. They were out. The Oxtail Eggrolls were amazing! Love anything oxtail! Nice lil fusion appetizer. Chose the Oxtail Entree'. Delicious. Tender for sure. Sauce was a bit on the sweeter side and not savory like I prefer it. Like a little more thyme also. The presentation was my fave. Super cute lil Dutch pots. One with rice and peas and one with the oxtail and all that tasty gravy. Rice and peas were standard. Would have liked a bit more coconut milk flavor in there. Taylor was a fantastic server! My homegirl did not want the birthday singing server crew but Taylor brought the Butter Vanilla Rum Cake and sang a little birthday ditty table side. Thanks, Taylor! The cake was rum soaked and sooo good. My goodness! Could use another slice! All in all, a crazy good dining experience! I will be back. I will bring more friends and family!
