BEEF PATTY SUPREMACY!!! Until today my picky wife is not a patty lover but seemed to be enthralled with the beef patty place that we just found from an online search. Read a few mixed Yelp reviews on this place but had to experience it for myself and have since only encountered a few decent patties with varying tastes and prices. Upon entering I noticed a mountain of fresh patties in the two tier Heat Max food warmer and the smell emanating through the store was amazing. To be blunt, the shop looked dingy in need of some TLC but sometimes the best food is in unsuspecting places that dont emphasize on decor but only the quality of the product. Well, this was one of those places. A quick check of the gender neutral bathroom revealed a clean and simple no frills room. Now, back to the counter, and while viewing the small wall menu, it was evident by the pricing that they were not trying to burn a hole in your wallet. Every patty were under $3.00 and the sweet cakes too. Noticed that they did not offer a spicy beef which are my favorite but went with the plain beef patty but without added hot sauce. The patty was larger than my goriila sized hand and the sheer weight was impressive. The steaming hot beef densely packed the firm flaky crust. No outside patio to sit and eat so we drove off with our treat. My wife and I carefully took small bites at every stop light as the flakes fell onto our laps and the center console. The beef had a mild tasty flavor and the crust was spectacular. The wife, not being a patty enthusiast, was surprisingly pleased with the taste and said we have to visit Taste Rite again. read more

Not a fan of Jamaican patties until today. My hubby basically forced me to try it but I'm glad he did. The restaurant was simple and was impressed by the amount of specialty patties on the back counter recently removed from the warmer. I came because I saw a tiktok and they had a saltfish loaf, which sounded amazing but they didn't make any that day. So instead I got a jerk chicken patty with coco bread. I went around 11 am so everything was still fresh and hot. The bread was super soft, one of the softest I've had from a patty place. The chicken patty was seasoned very well and was super fresh. They could've put more filling in there but regardless it was very fulfilling. Then I got a sorrel drink with ginger and that was super delicious. I definitely recommend coming to here! I had no idea there was a Taste Rite in Sunrise. I've been to the one in Pines. They are located in a plaza with plenty of parking. Once I walked in, it looks like your typical patty shop. The menu is on tv screens. It's not a big place at all. Once you enter the counter is in front for you to place your order. The customer service was your typical Jamaican customer service. As a woman that comes from a Jamaican background I can say the ladies working were nice. I ordered a few spicy beef patties and a callaloo loaf. Everything was fresh and tasty. I was disappointed with my order recently. Although I have ordered cocktail patties before with no issues and they were great, this time was totally horrible. HORRIBLE!! I ordered a week in advance, the day of my event not only was my order not ready ,2 dozen chicken,2 dozen beef, and 1 dozen veggie. Paid in FULL when ordered. My order wasn't even made. My husband waited 50min the day of our event for them to cook them. And he ordered extra..Then to add insult to injury, when my guests were eating them, they were tossing them out because the filling on the inside was non existent.The were mostly crust, barely any filling. A coworker recommended Taste Rite Jamaican Bakery to us for patties. We went later in the evening, after two failed attempts at arriving before the place closed. Unfortunately, arriving late, we learn the hard lesson that this location runs out of certain items near closing time. This is an issue another YELP review cited. The location is small, but adequate for a line to order, get your food, and leave. No frills. It is to the point, which is the norm for Caribbean bakeries. We found out the same as in another YELP review that there is no mild or spicy patty choice at Taste Rite. The employee up front seemed a little put off that we didn't know that about their patties. Okay, no problem. We ordered their beef patty. However, when we requested coco bread, the employee told us they were out. We looked inside the glass housing, which much earlier in the day, was probably loaded with baked good, and saw a pack of coco bread. She didn't even offer us those, even if we would have to go home to prepare them ourselves. The woman clearly was not a people's person. Dealing with the public is something she should NOT do for a living. Customer service is definitely lacking. We ordered from them, but ultimately walked a few doors down to Dutch Pot for a better offering of food AND far better customer service. After telling our coworker we had a big fat bloodclaat bone to pick with him, he let us know THAT wasn't the original Taste Rite Jamaican Bakery. The one he actually recommended was the McNab location. No harm. No foul. If you expect a variety of choices and tastes, combined with decent customer service, this location isn't the Jamaican bakery for you. If you are just plain hungry and have low expectations, then sure, go right ahead. Looking at the reviews, it seems the problems began in 2024 and never left. Ordered: Jamaican Beef Patty & Coco Bread I usually get patties when I visit Bravo Supermarket. It depends on how you like your patties you'll either love it or not. The texture is not the typical Jamaican patty you would get in Jamaica I like that you can taste the flavor and seasoning in the meat but the crust is soft and not flaky. Flaky crust and seasoned very well. I got 2 mild beef patt and they were tasty. Also got a guava cake and another cake which I believe was vanilla and guava. Very moist and tasty. Not too sweet which was a plus because it was still very enjoyable so I didn't feel too guilty. read more

The patties are one the best in town, but the customer service at the 44th ave in Sunrise is horrible. No greeting when you come in and not even a thank you after I purchased a few patties . A few months ago, I came in 5 minutes before they open, the staff just looked at me and said nothing. It was to much for them to just tell me that they are not open yet. After that situation, I had taken a break from this location. I try them today and after I said thank you after my purchase, the light skin Jamaican woman or maybe the owner, does not bother to reply. I have coming to location for almost 4 years and spent over $700 on patties. The customer service on Sunset Strip and University Dr is better. However, I will just make an extra 15 or 20 minute drive to Hammonds bakery in Lauderhill to get great, fresher patties and great customer service. First off the light skinned lady at the front was very rude and obnoxious, I waited in line for 15 minutes to be skipped twice, what was the purpose of a line being made if you are going to skip customers. The patties are good (when they are ready). I've gone a few times and have had to substitute what I initially wanted because it wasn't available at the time of ordering. Doesn't take away from the fact that the pattie are nice, flaky and filled pretty well. I agree with another reviewer saying it's a bit awkward waiting inside without some music playing (at the Sunset Strip location). I'm going to try the location near Piper and see if the quality is the same but so far I've tried the mild beef, chicken and callaloo patties and enjoyed them all. I stopped by the this Jamaican restaurant to see if they had patties and they guided me next door to this place. You walk in and it's basically a take-out patty only place.
