Plenty of people recommended this place to me saying this is the best Jamaican patties in Broward, so I wanted to find out for myself. I ordered two spicy chicken patties and one beef patty with one coco bread ofc. The coco bread was the softest I've ever had and It tasted amazing. The spicy chicken wasn't too spicy but super flavorful. There was plenty of filling too. The beef patty was super tasty also and I enjoyed it very much. People also recommended trying their pineapple juice. Now whether it's homemade or not I couldn't tell but it was so refreshing and complimented the meal perfectly. I've tried a lot of different Jamaican patty restaurants and I believe Hammonds bakery is up there with the best of them. Highly recommend trying this place. read more

I was in the mood for a flaky beef patty so I decided to try a different spot and give Hammond's a chance. The restaurant is a quintessential hole in the wall Jamaican bakery. Zero frills. I decided to try the spicy beef and the cheesy beef and a coco bread. They both had good flavor and a flaky crust. I do think next time I will skip the cheese as I didn't really like the type of cheese used. Hammond's did the job to fill a craving. Not bad. read more

Patty's was really good. The crust was flakey and delicious and the filling has great texture and flavor. Service was surprisingly good, servers was quite pleasant and courteous. I gave a 4 star because the patty was a bit too greasey. My favorite patty is the stew chicken patty. read more

The best patties ever! And they have been the best for quite some time! My patties are always fresh, flaky, and delicious! And the coco bread is always perfect! I got the ackee and saltfish patty with coco bread. It was so do good. I really wish I could eat it everyday! Any time I'm in the area I have to stop by and grab some patties from hammonds! They have the best variety as well! Something for everyone. They are always busy but they move the line along so quickly. I can't stop dreaming of these patties! Haven't been to this establishment in approx. a year at 4224 nw 12 street lauderhill, Fl. 33313. So went there on the 21 July 2023. Wasnt annoyed by the rise in beef price. I bought 3 beef patties at $8.25 total with taxes added .58 for total $8.83. Suprisingly as I check my receipt. They decided to tack on a 30 % unauthorized fee on my card for a whopping $2.65 now grand total of $11.48. Bear in mind this was a take out ,not a eat in diner, which they dont accomodate. This is just for awareness for dealing with crooks esp. the ones who offers a product or service (the ones who love money)... If you care. Stay safe, vigilant, Blessed! read more

Probably one of my favorite places to get patties. They are always flaky and flavorful. The neighborhood is rather questionable but other than that, it's worth it. You have a great snack/meal for under $10. Highly recommended to me by friends and I definitely recommend to anyone looking for good patties in the greater Fort Lauderdale area. read more

Rude! visited for the first time. ordered veggie patty and coco bread, my husband requested for both patty and coco bread to be in one bag. the attendant was short and quipped with her response " You shoulda tell me dat before you orda" and proceeded to plop the bag with the contents on the counter. The patty and coco bread was not even that great!!! The Attitude must be checked! that's why a lot of our black business suffe! read more

A couple of friends recommended I visit. I was not disappointed. The beef patties are very tasty with a golden flaky buttery crust and well-seasoned beef filling. I tried both mild and spicy, and spicy had just enough kick. Coco bread was also soft, perfectly browned. Customer service was good. Packaged each customer's order with care, no-rush pace, while singing. Limit of 4 customers allowed inside at one time, stickers on floor for social distancing. Various specials offered. Ummmmmm it's a NO!! Wow where do I start! Staff is NOT friendly or welcoming. Make sure you have exact change or if using a card must be $5 or more. Now on to the patty. Speechless. Very strange aftertaste. To the point that my family and I could NOT finish. What upsets me most is why is the meat soooo runny that all the meat in the patty goes to the bottom!! Why?? I should be able to enjoy every bite with meat not just eating dough for the first couple bites. Moral of this paragraph is please please do better!! read more

Bought 7 curry chicken and ackee and salt-fish patties but threw them all in the trash because the filling had an overwhelmingly strong vinegar taste. Service was fast and friendly but the patties were disappointing. I usually stop by when I'm in town but don't think I'll be back if this is part of the new seasoning. read more

Oh if I could give this place negative stars I would. The level of racism....waited in line ahead of 3 other people who just so happened to be colored. Gentleman completely ignored me and continued to help the customers that were behind me. The woman at the counter told me to "just wait" and hen I asked her if I could just order one pie, as the couples in front of me were getting $40+ of things. I am disgusted. I was blantently discriminated against. I will NEVER return here or recommend this place to any of my friends, who ALL happen to be of color. Fuck you guys! read more

Best beef patties on this side of the world, but on my last visit there Ackee and Saltfish patty.....*speechless* It is a small store front and tiny shop that is most of the time always full. They are in high demand so they run out of popular items frequently but try and restock just as fast. It is so worth it. I'm not really a fan of some of their baked items but that's a preference. I don't eat patties, but he does and according to him these are the closest to the ones you will find in Jamaica. The closest thing to real Jamaican patties that I have found IN Broward County. I ditched going to a fancy anniversary brunch for their spicy beef patties. If you want something close to the real thing, stop in at Hammonds to grab a patty or two. Enjoy!!! read more

Omg I. Have been to Hammonds a few time the crust of the patty was tasty but the patty was flat just a tat of meat was in the casing I call them and told them about it Me thinking that they had improve because I hear that the patty was on point. Yes on point is rite.I bought some patty a few days ago The patty had some meat like substance oozing out of the casing. I was too far away to return back. I put a post on fb with out their name only location there is 3 of them them close by. I call Hammonds today and ask to.speak to the owner or manager the worker say they run the business with out supervision. Maybe that is why they patty are turning out this way. It's a shame. First and last time, I gave a 2 star because I bought what they call guava/guava cheese tarts, I actually wanted plantain tarts, but they had none. I got home and after dinner I thought I would have one for dessert, but it was the worst pastry I ever had, they were stale/old like they have been sitting for couple of days, they had no filling inside only the red color that looks like jam, to say the least I had to throw them out. I was told this was the best place to pick up some authentic Jamaican patties. I am not an expert when it comes to patties but I can tell you these patties did not win me over. They have a great flaky crust but the filling (meat) looks like like some purée much like baby food. They only offer take out no tables or seats inside so we had to eat them in the car. That was a huge error on my part. They were freshly made and very hot but the crust could not hold in the puree contents and it spilled out onto my clothes and car. Seems you cannot eat these while the crust and contents are hot. Honestly I do not care for Hammonds patties. My palate may need some fixing up based on their excellent reviews. Service was great, friendly staff takes your order and when I visited the line went very fast. If you do go,,,, be warned bring a bib, you will need it. read more

OMG I am abandoning Golden Krust for this place. Thanks to a friend of mine who told me about this. It's like a couple parking lots down from Golden Krust. Parking can be a mission as their are other businesses there as well as a park across the street. But be prepared when you first enter the bakery. The smell of fresh patties are going to smack you! Like literally. Service is a good pace as they get a lot of traffic. Their patties are fresh and flaky. The crust is pretty thin so forget about driving on the go, lol! Though it been ages since I've last had a patty from here prior to today....I've always preferred Hammond's beef patties. Goes back to my college days. The meat is more flavorful and though the crust is thinner than the usually patty place, it is my preference. I'd rather have tastier meat, as opposed to biting into a patty that's all crust or the meat is dry. The patties here are flaky, and judging from how busy they are, customers keep coming back. read more

I really wish I could give them no stars. I've been coming here for over 10 years and never have I seen this type of behavior nor food served from this establishment. To begin I walked in and they were out of my favorite drink and had to mix the remainder with another flavor. No problem I leave half way through my Jamaican patty I noticed foul still on the patty and curly strand of hair. I go back to confront them about this and the skinny male server asked me "what am I trying to do Expose them" I was offended immediately not only did I serve me food with hair in and but your not sorry about it. I love there patties but they need better servers and hairnets for all of their rude staff. Btw I will be sending this review and images to OSHA!!! read more

Sharing sounded like a good idea when we ordered, but halfway through I was already regretting it. Great coffee, delicious food, and the kind of place that makes you start planning your next visit before you've even paid the bill. I so enjoy sampling what I call 'authentic' foods. These are not restaurant versions of some…read moreethnic food, but the real locally made deal. The store is nothing to look at but even that is authentic. There is a large round wood-toned Formica topped table in the center of the store for you to dine at but its really a take out place. You can purchase patties or cooked dishes ready to serve cafeteria style in hotel pans. It helps if you speak Haitian Creole but there is always someone who can help you in English with the basics. In my book, that is a plus, not a minus. I speak about three or four words of French and I have good hand gesturing skills and that seemed to be enough to get exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately I don't get to visit the Tasty Chicks frequently but when I drive down Alligator Alley I make it a point to stop in nearby Plantation for a refill of pies and a delicious take out meal. The store is maybe 10 minutes detour from the highway. The pies are single serving but also very inexpensive. At the time I purchased them last, they cost $1 each for chicken, fish or meat pie. The pastry is flaky and not overly buttery, perfect for a savory pie. I buy them by the three or four dozen unbaked and take them home. Even after months in the freezer, these pies bake up perfectly every time. The cooked food was really great too. I tried their stewed chicken dish. Its been a while so I cant give you the details but lets say that both my wife and I thoroughly cleaned our plates. That dish we ate at the big round table. I also highly recommend the grapefruit jam called Konfiti Chadeque that is produced locally in Miami and is featured prominently on the counter. Its possible to buy this elsewhere and even online but you will definitely pay more. I was so enamored of the Konfiti Chadeque that I made some at home that turned out pretty good though not quite as good as the commercial version. The jam is made out of the grapefruit pith - the bitter white part under the skin that is soaked in water several times before being cooked with anise stars and other spices. Its really special. My five star review is for food flavor, authenticity and friendly service, not for the decor or the elaborate selections. I haven't been there since the covid crisis and I hope that Tasty Chicks is still cooking up a storm every day. Go and try it out!
