Great food in a distant Brandon mini mall. My daughter had an away soccer game in Lithia, and so we decided to try TasteaPho for lunch on our way home. The location was such that we usually pick a more convenient restaurant, but this time, everything lined up! The restaurant was empty when we arrived (noon on a Saturday), and it stayed mostly empty throughout our meal. I think they mostly do takeout and delivery service. We ordered: fried shrimp, french fries, edamame, soup dumplings, siu mei, and beef chow fun. And a couple drinks. The food came out quickly and piping hot. The edamame were slightly overcooked. Everything else was perfect and delicious. Everything was very tasty. Serving sizes were very good. We had a LOT of leftovers, which all heated up well. I wish this was located closer to a freeway and/or closer to the places in Brandon that we do go to, but it is worth the drive. I've already recommended the place to my parents and sister. read more

I really wanted some dim sum this past weekend and the place I usually go to closes at 2:30 so I had to find somewhere else to grab some dim sum. I want something authentic and flavorful and that's exactly what I got here. It's a small restaurant with those I feel like are the best places to get authentic food. Inside was not decorated the most extravagant, but it was clean so that still marks good in my book. And I'm really there for flavorful food not for the decoration. The staff was really friendly and welcoming. Now on to do dumplings. They had a sign that said everything is made in house, but I've been to places where they say that and it doesn't taste homemade. But I can positively say that this food was made in house! These were the best dumplings and shumai i have ever had. They were flavorful and delicious. The shumai mine was the best one I ever had. I really wanted to go back the next day to get more just to take home. The steamed dumplings were really good. I'm more so eat fried dumplings, but I love how good they were and I love the sauce that went with it. The shrimp dumplings were really good too and juicy. The dumplings are also bigger than I usually get which was very surprising in a good way because I'm used to really extra small ones. Great family run business, the best pho I've had in the Brandon area. They package everything perfectly for takeout as well. I barely order milk tea from anywhere else because it never compares. Everything I've ordered from the dim sum menu has been good, and make sure you ask for chili oil, it's homemade and delicious. read more

Great food. 4.5 stars for our visit. This restaurant has great potential. The half stars different is they need to improve on the wait for the food. It takes some time of wait for the food after order. Other than, they are perfect on taste. We got beef chow fun. Their beef chow fun is the best for the Bay Area. I am recommending this dish if you visit this restaurant. They have good even spread of sauce to the noodles. The second dish we have is the handmade dumplings in chili oil. I also like this dish due to the dumplings is big and the infill meat make very well. The last dish grill pork vermicelli. Overall the taste is excellent. I don't mind to wait when the taste is good. Came in on Christmas Eve, was so happy they were open! We got Strawberry tea, dumplings and 2 BanhMis to go. They were so sweet they separated all the sandwich parts so it didn't get soggy on the way home. Everything was good. Will be back again and again. read more

I normally have to visit a new restaurant a couple of times and try different things on the menu before writing a review. In this case, I just happened to love everything that I ordered. I started having that feeling as soon as I saw the muddle teas on the menu. I had to ask the owner about them right away, and especially that Thai chili lychee tea that screamed at me from the menu. I like to find unique items and this was it. It's kind of made like a mojito except instead of lime and mint, the lychee and a little Thai chili pepper is mixed with a muddler in the glass. I loved it! It was not too sweet but had such a fresh taste of the lychee fruit and the pepper. It was a refreshing drink with a little kick. It was perfect. I would get it again. They had other wonderful flavors such as Berry, Cucumber, and Strawberry. I can't wait to try the berry tea. I didn't think it could get better than that, but then I tried the Pho Tai. This was a wonderful bowl of soup that was very comforting on a rainy day. I couldn't stop eating it. I think I even ate all the rice noodles. It was so delicious. It had jalapeno peppers on top which I don't normally eat raw but I did this time. It also gave the broth a little heat. I would have loved it even without the peppers. The broth was fresh and not too bold. It wasn't too sweet or too savory. It was just the right balance of flavors. I may be partial because I love all kinds of pho so you'll just have to try it for yourself. So the menu has a little of everything. They just opened less than a week ago so the menu will grow with the business. As of now they have a nice selection of food items as well as desserts such as bubble waffles, Chè, and Halo Halo. I was too full to even think about dessert but I will go back to try one of them next time. The boba tea menu also looks wonderful. No powder mixes are used in these tea drinks. There is a list of fresh fruit toppings as well as boba and jelly toppings. I also saw Vietnamese espresso drinks on the menu if you need your caffeine boost as well. I was so excited by all of this. I've been waiting for this restaurant to open for what seems like forever. It's finally open and I'm so happy it's near my neighborhood. It's in the shopping center on Lithia Pinecrest near Lumsden in Brandon/Valrico and next door to Hole in One Donuts. It's very clean and modern. They have a cute Instagram wall with swings for those picture moments. The owner was so welcoming and helpful. I think she's going to do very well. There's no doubt about that. Let's start with the wait time - an excruciatingly long hour and ten minutes before my order even graced the table. Yes, you read that correctly. Over an hour just to receive my food, and this wasn't some gourmet, slow-cooked masterpiece. It was a simple order of pho and dim sum, for crying out loud. I could have grown my own vegetables and raised my own cattle in the time it took for them to slap together a few ingredients. And when my order finally did arrive, it was wrong. Not just a minor oversight, mind you, but a complete botching of my request. I specifically asked for two pho, one combination and one combination with spicy broth. My daughter who has strep throat wanted some pho and I got absolutely nothing because my order was wrong. You just screwed over a kid. It's as if they took my order, crumpled it up, and tossed it straight into the garbage without a second thought. To add insult to injury, the service was abysmal. The staff seemed more interested in short orders of customers who came and went. It's as if they've never heard of the concept of efficiency or basic courtesy. In conclusion, save yourself the time, money, and frustration and avoid TasteTeaPho like the plague. There are plenty of other restaurants out there that actually value their customers and take pride in their food. Do yourself a favor and give this sorry excuse for a restaurant a wide berth. Great food! This was only our 2nd visit to TasteaPho. We enjoyed Chicken Chow Fun, Shrimp Pho, Combo Bahn Mi, Pork Soup Dumpling, and Chinese Sausage Sticky Rice. Each was delightful, but the sticky rice stood out as exceptional. They were fairly busy as it was Saturday about lunchtime. 1st visit to TASTEAPHO and have nothing but good things to say. We ordered Pho Tai (Thin sliced rare beef) and Pho Dac Biet (Rare steak, brisket, meatball, and tendon) both were equally GREAT! Those we accompanied by delicious Juicy Pork Dim Sum with Pineapple Boba Tea and Mango Yogurt. Our only critique would be that both of agree that we prefer our drinks thicker/colder (again - totally an individual choice). The flavor was spot on, made on demand, and a good portion. Best pho I've had since moving to this area. Super rich and delicious broth with tender high quality meat. A ton of noodles, garnishes, and sauces provided. And the best part- so much food for the price! For a huge portion of pho and a giant delicious Thai tea my total was only around 20 dollars! I am obsessed with their bahn mei sandwiches! So few restaurants around here offer them, but I've had enough while traveling to confidently say that their version is in my top 3. I love the pickled veggies so much, I usually ask them to double them. I'd buy a quart of those veggies if they ever decided to sell them separately. I know quick pickles are easy to make, but I can never can get mine to taste as good as these. I also appreciate that the bread is a little softer than I've had with other bahn meis. This review is based solely on my experience with their tea. I got a jasmine tea with almond milk and Boba. Regular Boba. The Boba was undercooked and hard. Also I cannot taste any jasmine tea at all. The drink just tasted like a big glass of almond milk with ice and undercooked Boba. If I make it back for the food I will update my review but I will not ever have another tea from there again. read more
