Cute art work welcomes you. The service here is quick and efficient. It is a seat your self place and there was quite a line to get in on Labor Day morning. The restaurant is dark- there are ceiling lights with dark blue shades which look lovely but the room is just too dark. Our meals were ok. Served hot and quick. The hash brown were done but not brown just kind of anemic. Eggs were perfectly cooked-the sunny side yolks had the liquid sunshine you'd expect. The bacon was crisp without crumbling and the sausage had the kind of flavor you're looking for at breakfast. A bit of disclosure here -I am a pancake aficionado so had to try theirs. We ordered blueberry pancakes and each got a large cake. The was thick, tough, and lacked flavor-the highlight was the fresh blueberries. We only ate the bites with the berries. This will be one of my favorite places when I am up this way visiting!! I don't even know where to start. A nice local business that I bet is popping on the weekends! We stopped to get some breakfast on our way to the lake. I LOVE omelets! I was surprised that I had to choose between 1 egg, 2 egg or 3 egg. I chose a 2 egg cause I was hungry but not starving. Good Lord..next time I'm getting a 1 egg one. It was DELICIOUS!!! I ate and ate and ate and still had half of my breakfast left. It was perfect in every way tho! HIGHLY DISAPPOINTING!!!!!! We had heard how good this little place was - no clue how that rumor got started. In fairness I've heard their breakfasts are good but I think I'll pass trying there again I had the fish sandwich with fries. I also had potato cream soup. The soup was all cream with THREE very small potato pieces. It was a decent size bowl though. The fish sandwich was a Gordon Food Service type fish, heavily breaded with no taste at all and very thin layer of fish. The fries were hot but kind of hard inside. How do you screw up fries??? My husband had the Blue Goose Chicken Salad. He said it was probably one of the worst dinner salads he's ever had. How do you screw up a salad???? The bottom consisted of the hard thick white pieces of lettuce so I guess it looked like salad was fairly full & large? The salad dressing wasn't good or flavorful, the chicken had no taste and it was just plain disappointing overall There were a lot of what looked like locals there so they may know what or what not to order. It's obvious we ordered the wrong things. Our server has no personality at least with us. Never asked how things were, never asked if we needed refills and actually acted like we were bothering her. Back in the day when I was working the Blue Goose was the go-to eatery when we were near Fennville. Blue Goose is one of my "go to" breakfast places while I'm in Fennville. The service is always quick and super friendly, and the food is always spot on. You can find me here most Sunday mornings between April and October grabbing a Blue Goose Special. This is a gravy covered dish that takes just about everything they have in the kitchen and is mixed together and served on a platter. Try moving it... you'll need two hands. The place gets busy on the weekends, especially during the summer when those of us from Detroit, Chicago and Indianapolis (and others) descend on the town for our weekend getaways. It's a small town diner (people eyeballed us when we walked in, probably to see if they knew us) but the food is good and the prices are very reasonable. I ordered a side of Texas toast with ham. The ham was more like a "ham steak," and very tasty. My friend liked that you could choose 1, 2, or 3 eggs in your omelet (she ordered a 1-egg omelet) and she said her omelette was tasty, as well as the hash browns. Service was fast (we were in and out within 45 minutes, I think) and booths and bathrooms were clean. I'd come back here when in Fennville and in need of a quick breakfast. read more

Very clean welcoming small-town diner. It was very busy when we visited, parking was a bit of a challenge. Once inside I understood why. The kitchen appeared to be well organized and efficient. Plates of food come out the serving window continuously. I see other comments about lighting, but I found it warm and comfortable. The food tasted fresh; everything was cooked as it was ordered. We were seated where I could see the cooks working. As a cook myself it was like watching a Symphany being played as the staff prep and prepare the many dishes ordered. While in Fennville, if you are looking for an inexpensive yet very good restaurant meal, you can't go wrong with Blue Goose Cafe. Since there was only one other occupied table in the restaurant on the Monday evening we ate there, we decided to eat in. There was plenty of space between tables, and even though the restaurant began to have more dine-in customers as we were there, we never felt unsafe. The restaurant definitely has that "local diner" vibe, and that's fine. After the amazing meal we'd had the night prior at the Everyday People Cafe in Douglas, we were looking for simple, but good quality fare, and found it here. Our waitress attended to us as soon as we sat down. The menu is definitely old-style diner (liver and onions were the special that night!), and they serve breakfast all day, so that's what my husband opted for, getting the corned beef hash and eggs. I went for the Philly steak. Both arrived quickly, portions were reasonably sized , which was exactly what we were looking for, since we'd walked from our B&B and were leaving town the next day. The food was very good, came piping hot, and really hit the spot. Our server came back to check on us twice, refilled our beverages without being asked, and was kind and pleasant. This is my favorite breakfast / brunch spot to come with friends! Was just here this past weekend with a group of 10 friends total and we were seated very quickly. Food is amazing and affordable. The service was extremely friendly and attentive too! I ordered the chicken noodle soup and it may be the best I've ever had. The bowl is pretty small and the cup is teeny tiny so I recommend the bowl :) I was only visiting for the weekend - I wish there was a spot like this in Indianapolis where I live because I'd be there ALL the time! read more

This small diner was packed on Sunday morning for breakfast when my family arrived, but we only had to wait 5 minutes before a table was available. The décor is sparse with a nice painting of Fennville on one of the walls that we sat next to. Other than that, it's basically a waitress stand and 25 or so tables. The menu is large and it surprisingly has portion options for many breakfast offerings like number of eggs in the omelet and the number of biscuits in the biscuits and gravy. The portion sizes of each order was very large. The hash browns with my eggs and ham filled half of the plate. My wife ordered the Blue Goose Special which basically included a complete breakfast rolled in an omelet and covered with sausage gravy. My daughter said that the banana pan cakes were very good. I tasted my son's gravy on the biscuits and gravy and I thought it was a little bland (needed more pepper and onion powder). The ham steak was very tasty and the eggs were cooked perfect. Just good country cooking for breakfast. Nothing fancy, just good and filling. I was surprised that they also had Mexican on the dinner menu but we never made it back to eat dinner there. read more
