My family and I have passed by Samooni so many times and always wondered why it looked so quiet from the outside. Today we finally decided to give it a try, and let's just say we were seriously missing out. This place is an amazing Italian restaurant. The food tasted incredibly fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. From the appetizers to the entrees, everything we ordered was excellent. The lobster ravioli was rich and perfectly cooked, the cheese ravioli was fresh and full of flavor, and the spaghetti and meatballs tasted like true homemade Italian comfort food. You can tell they really care about quality and presentation. If you're in the Knightdale area and have been thinking about trying it, don't let the empty parking lot fool you. This restaurant deserves a lot more attention than it gets. We'll definitely be back. read more

We were in town this past weekend for an event and were staying nearby. Both of my boys love Italian, so I found this spot on Yelp for a nice dinner. The restaurant was located at the end of a strip mall. The interior is really clean and posh. We were seated quickly and our server got us situated right away. We ended up trying out the garlic knots and the margarita pizza. The knots were AMAZING. Some of the best I've ever had. The pizza crust was lovely and the pizza was HUGE. One slice and two knots had me full. I enjoyed the fresh ricotta on the pizza (my boys were not big fans, so we got some plain cheese for them instead). The only potential ding was once we were sat, the service from there was really slow (a challenge with two special needs kids). The wine list was reasonable both by glass and by bottle - much more so than most upscale Italian places. I took the remainder of our pizza back to the hotel and then home with us after our event -- reheated a couple slices when we got home in the oven and it was still delicious. Overall a really pleasant experience. If we're back in town again in this area, we'd absolutely visit again. read more

Everything here is excellent. The food is fresh, delicious, and reasonably priced, absolutely a tier above Olive Garden. The wine list has some nice glasses as well, also at a reasonable price. The ambiance is extremely charming, and, to be totally honest, better than I expected given this restaurants location in a somewhat older strip mall. The service is what really set this place apart, however. It was very apparent that our server was excited to have first-timers visit and try the quality of their food. The food made my boyfriend sick and they also did not send us what he actually ordered. What they sent was barely edible and a strange mix of angel hair pasta, meatballs, green peppers, mushrooms, and some kind of marinara sauce. Not a combination I would expect from an Italian restaurant. I ordered broccoli cream soup which would have been good had they not added shredded carrots and large chunks of celery as both were very off putting and distracting. The limoncello was falling apart as I ate it and the frosting almost tasted like straight butter. I don't recommend anyone eat here if they are looking for authentic Italian/Italian American food. Tonight was the first time visiting this restaurant and the food out of 10 was a solid 8.5. Service was a bit slow which was a bit disappointing considering we were "literally"the only ones in there dining the whole time. The only reason why I gave my review a 3 out of 5 is because service as mentioned and maybe it was just our luck when visiting, but their AC must have been out at the time when we were there because we were dripping sweat the whole time we were eating and when getting drinks the glasses of water and wine glasses were not up to par on cleanliness and could clearly tell the glasses were not cleaned very well. Located in a shopping center with ample parking. They are open for lunch Friday to Sunday. Italian food is my favorite and I always order chicken parm to get an idea if I want to return. The sandwich was tasty, full if cheese and chicken. It came with extra crispy fries which were enjoyable. Considering the price ($14 drinking water) to value it comes in at stars. Will return to try a dinner item which may bump it to 4 stars. BTW I have read service was poor but that was not my experience. read more

Such a disappointment! This is one restaurant I would recommend bringing a bottle of water to, although they are quick to offer a table, their speediness stops there. 30 minutes for a glass of water and 45 minutes for a glass of wine, I had to wonder if they are just not interested in making money from beer and wine sales. Every interaction with the server started with the same three words, "I'm so sorry", and for good reason. When you offer very sporadic table service at best, you should be sorry. Unfortunately after watching the other diners experiencing the same frustration, take-out seemed to be a better option than dining in. If your going to offer only one option for a side salad, you should at least send it off with a quality and flavorful ranch dressing to prevent from that dreaded bland puddle at the bottom of the salad plate. A salad is meant to be eaten, not sipped! The only good part of the dinner was the pizza, they definitely make the best stuffed pizza around and serve it with a great sauce. Unfortunately your not likely to get another visit from your server for a while after receiving your entree, Check Please! Although the pizza is definitely the best in knightdale, the ambiance and dining experience is far from good, resulting in 2 hours of my life I will never get back. I called the restaurant to discuss my dissatisfaction with the meal and spoke with Shami the manager. I told him that The spinach manicotti came with chicken strips that were just like compressed chicken nuggets, the calamari was like rubber. I ordered a salad with a ranch dressing and got some sort of creamy Italian instead. The desserts I ordered a cannoli and a lemon cello cake. I can't decide if the lemon cello cake was Betty Crocker or Duncan Heinz, and as far as the cannoli goes the shell was stale, the cannoli cream had no flavor at all, and it just looks like somebody took 10X sugar with water, and then piped it into a stale cannoli shell. The portions were SO small the eggplant was 1slice shaved to almost see through status. The manicotti was only 2 swimming in a sauce that taster like just cooked flour and water. I spent a lot of money there and I wanted to reasonably talk to them and see what they would be willing to do and all I was told was he can't offer a refund it's not an option that if I come back he'll give me a 20% discount. There is no way I'm ever going back to there and will share this information with Yelp and all of my friends. I've never seen a restaurant that wasn't willing due to poor performance in the kitchen, giving the customer a partial credit for some of the stuff that they ordered some of the food. If you see my reviews I do not give many 5 star reviews. This place is a hidden gem! From the time we walked in we felt like we were there best customers. We had an amazing glass of Italian wine and was not rushed at all. Then came the food, absolutely amazing. We have eaten at many Italian restaurants from NYC to Italy, to Chicago to local SC favorites and this place is in our top 3. The Chef/Owner greeted us and was very gracious. This was a really good Italian restaurant we went to for our pre Christmas dinner to celebrate with family out of town. I got the amore chicken which was phenomenal and a generous portion including the side of spaghetti I didn't even know came with it. Service was slow as they haven't been this busy since they opened but they kept us updated and filled our drinks. We didn't mind as they were very friendly and when the food arrived the wait was worth it. Our server was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their dinner and I know the penne a la vodka was really good. My family & I tried Samooni Restaurant for the first time tonight. Started with a Red Blend from CA along with some garlic knots that were topped with fresh garlic and butter ....sooooo good! Followed by an antipasta salad that was fresh n crisp Our main course..homemade stuffed manicotti shells that was so ooey gooey cheesey goodness (hands down the best I've had in ages) With a side of fresh garlic bread And the Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken n broccoli was creamy goodness Ending with a chocolate cannoli that was sweet n delicious If you haven't tried this place yet we'd highly recommend them if you want to experience good food and enjoy relaxing with your friends n family. It's NOT fast food but the ambiance is relaxing & friendly. The food is homemade & fresh to order, delicious, and the owner and servers were very friendly & attentive. We are here visiting from Texas (but we used to live here) my husband and I decided to stop in here for lunch.. we were the ONLY customers in the middle of lunch time on a Saturday .. first thing I notice is the awful smell.. all the AC vents are dripping and have a layer of dust.. My son and I came tonight and had Bailey who was a delightful waitress. I think she had the whole place by herself so she had a lot to do but was still friendly and attentive. I had the alfredo and it was not a traditional Alfredo it was more of a black pepper Alfredo but it was very good. My son got the scampi with shrimp and scallops and he was very happy and I tried the sauce and it was very good. Cannot say enough good things about our waitress. She was so polite and friendly! Really excellent service. I had a salad which was good overall (loved the cheese and the dressing was a super chunky, delicious blue cheese) but extremely watery. My husband ordered stuffed pizza and he said it was amazing. It was pretty quiet/slow when we first arrived but people trickled in as it got later. This is a small place but it didn't feel crowded and it wasn't loud (even with an enthusiastic toddler at a table near the front). A nice experience. read more

We had been hearing great things about this place and decided to give it a try on a Thursday night. The place wasn't too busy when we walked in, quiet, but we were greeted right away and told we could sit anywhere on one side of the restaurant. Our waitress came over a few minutes later and was incredibly nice, but the poor girl was working alone on the floor and felt the need to apologize over and over again. She did the best she could with everything she was given. We ordered garlic knots, a Ceasar salad, pasta, and a pizza. The knots came out fairly quickly, and our silverware was replaced at the time (from open ware on the table to napkin wrapped). The knots were okay. They looked more appealing than they tasted. Our son could only eat one due to the amount of garlic coating them. They could have baked a few minutes longer as well. Our entrees came out after a bit of a wait, and two out of three of us were a bit disappointed. My salad ended up being the wrong one, but the descriptions were so close, I had no idea until we got the check. It was a decent salad but large. It was difficult to cut and not end up sliding some off the plate. The chicken on it was fairly good, and all the veggies were fresh. My partners pasta with pink sauce left a lot to be desired. It was swimming in sauce and was bland. The cheese pizza our son got was pretty good, a little sweet but baked very well. They could use a few more waitresses and to consider reducing the portion sizes just a little so that extra plates aren't needed. Let me start by saying this is the first review I've ever made on Yelp reviews and I hate writing this because I want new restaurants to succeed in a franchise-heavy Knightdale area. This is absolutely the worst restaurant and experience I've encountered in many years. Examples below: 1. Arrived 5:10 with maybe 5 tables full - server arrived and asked for our drink order. Had a glass of red wine and a glass of Prosecco for my wife. Red wine came in a chilled wine glass and Prosecco in a warm glass. Also, the Prosecco was opened in the main room and the cork shot across the restaurant. 2. We brought our kids, which apparently is a bad idea. After 45 minutes (without an appetizer garlic knots never arriving), I asked to get the food to go. The owner seems irate and said, "I know you have kids, but the food is made fresh. We aren't a chain." I understand and appreciate fresh food. I have been to restaurants around the world and have never waited 45 minutes for garlic knots nor have been blamed on having a poor experience because I have children. 3. I ordered the "fresh" Spaghetti Toseanello which is supposed to include peppers and fresh pasta. The pasta 100% is not homemade and you don't have an option to choose a different type of pasta, which also indicates there is nothing homemade about this operation. (Pictures included). The sausage is was incredibly burnt. 4. My wife ordered tortellini 'Michael D'Angelo' which turned out to be burnt soup (picture included). 5. After asking the food to go after 50 minutes, I was told it would take longer because they now had to transfer the food to takeout containers. Logically, this doesn't make sense ad that also means the food was ready and just wasn't sent out? 6. We saw the 'waitress' twice, only the second time because she forgot the adult drinks the first time. Never saw her again. As someone who has waitered for years in the past, I would've been able to hand the small amount of tables in the restaurant- max 10-12. 7. After getting our order to go and getting home, seepage and sauce was all over the bags and spilled on the counter. My wife's meal looked like and jiggled like soup. Mine again had burnt sausage, no peppers, and little to no spice. Absolutely nothing fresh about it. 8. They forgot our knots and when I called they said they hadn't charged us (they had). 0/10 experience. Again, I hate writing this because I want non-franchised owned and fresh restaurants in Knightdale. But this is not it. read more

I ordered a garden salad through Grubhub 11-25-25. The salad was delivered on time. When I get my salad it was filled with lettuce (of course) blk olives tomatoes carrots onions & croutons plus a side of Italian dressing. Description in Grubhub: lettuce tomatoes cucumbers onions roasted peppers & olives plus I needed to choose a dressing. Two different types of salads. I called the store & someone answered and told me to hold. I held on for almost 10 minutes. I hang up cause I personally thought that was poor customer service. I drive to the restaurant. Establishment wasn't busy at all. There were a few ppl dining in & 2 ppl waiting for their order. I walk in with the untouched salad. The man behind the counter asked could he help me. I explained to him calmly that this is not the salad I ordered. He stated this is our garden salad. I stated that Grubhub has a different description of the garden salad. I showed him the Grubhub description. He looks at the picture on my phone & say that's not our salad. He never took the time to read the description. He said you need to call Grubhub. I said why when I ordered the salad from this place of business. He stated again you need to call Grubhub cause that's not our salad (still focused on picture not description). I said sir how would I know this if I'm ordering from a delivery service. How would I know that Grubhub description was incorrect. He proceeded to argue & show me the menu to prove that the salad I ordered was correct. I said again sir the description in Grubhub doesn't describe the salad that arrived at my home. I said either I get a different salad or I want my money back. He still wants to argue over a SALAD. He stated again you need to call Grubhub. I said sir did you get paid for this salad. He said yes. So I repeated again either give me a different salad or give me my money back. I also explained to him I'm allergic to carrots. The Grubhub description did not mention carrots. He's still trying to argue & refuse any of my options. I said so you want me to die eating this salad with carrots? Indirectly he said yes. I asked him was he ok? He paused & looked me in my face. He then said ma'am what other salad would you want & handed me the menu to choose. I told him I left my readers in the car & just pick a salad that doesn't have carrots. As I stated earlier there were 2 ppl waiting. One lady got up & asked did I want to use her glasses. I asked if they were readers & she said yes. I told her thank you & chose the grilled chicken salad. I handed the reading glasses back to the nice lady. I honestly believe the only reason he replaced the salad was because the 2 ppl waiting for their food heard how foolish he was sounding & he realized how ridiculous he was acting over a SALAD that was described wrongly in Grubhub. That wasn't my fault cause how would I know the description was incorrect. He brought the salad to me in about 10 minutes. I understand the economy is messed up but he did all that over a SALAD. A salad that had no meat so the salad wasn't breaking the bank. I never got loud or rude. I let him make an ass out of hisself by himself. I wouldn't recommend this place to a homeless person. All that over a SALAD is ludicrous. By the time I got home I didn't even want the salad. This place gets a 0/10 for customer service. I can't rate the food cause I didn't even eat it. read more

I had cheese ravioli with Alfredo sauce and limoncello cake. I used my garlic bread to sop up every bit of the delicious Alfredo sauce! It is a bit pricey since no side salad comes with the meal and there is no free bread for the table, but the tasty food will bring me back. Service was good too. read more

Read a number of reviews on this location. I wanted to appreciate my mom and taker for a nice meal and get served versus serving others. The first thing we noticed walking in the door was the fragrance and aroma of fresh food. We were promptly greeted and seated. There was only one server for the 20 ish tables. Our server hustled and provided attentive and courteous service. The speed of service was nearly perfect. Our food was presented well and we were very flavorful. The facilities were clean and well decorated for the holidays. The chef and manager stopped by the table and greeted us and wanted to thank us for trying their restaurant. We decided to try out Samooni for date night. There is plenty of parking and it's free. The restaurant is in a shopping center so the parking lot is shared, but still plenty of room for parking. The restaurant is very nice and it is clean. Staff was friendly and attentive! As soon as we sat down our server was at the table introducing herself and taking drink orders. We ordered an appetizer we chose the meatballs. I did not enjoy them at all- for me the temperature was not very hot and they were swimming in sauce and cheese. You only get 2 meatballs that are not very big and they have been cut in half too look like 4. The sauce was good and had they served it with a toasted bread in could have enjoyed that at least (you will see in the pictures it's a lot of sauce that just got thrown away because I had nothing to eat with it). Meatballs definitely not worth $10. We decided to order a pizza! It was delicious! It was hot, toppings were plentiful, and the crust was great! I liked that the meat toppings were not salty like some places. I chose a lemon cake for dessert and it was delicious. I think they may have defrosted it in the microwave because my bottom layer was warm and the remaining layers were cool as it should have been, but it was moist and refreshing! They do accept reservations, but they are not required. We will definitely be going back because we saw other dishes coming out that looked very good! The 4 star was because of the meatballs and while a staff member was cleaning a table she decided to have personal conversation speaking loudly to other co-workers and that was inappropriate.
