This is your standard boba tea you could get at a mall. It's not authentic and flavors are not fresh. The matcha didn't taste like real matcha it was super sweet and artificially colored. The passion fruit tea was super sweet as well. I'm not sure if the Thai tea uses real tea but it does not taste fresh at all. Seems like no real tea is used here. I tried love bite which included chocolate drizzle, strawberries, and nutella. I didn't realize this until after, but you can have unlimited additional toppings which I absolutely love! I included marshmallows and mochi on top as well. They weren't able to roast the marshmallows because their torch wasn't working at the time though. However, the rolled ice cream turned out better than I expected and is comparable to the ones I've had in NY. Additionally, the staff is super friendly! Not sure why this place has bad reviews, I went for the first time today and had a really positive experience. Showed up around 4:30 on a Wednesday. There were a few patrons when we arrived. The staff were super friendly, even though I changed my mind on what I wanted a couple of times. My friend and I sat at one of the barstools while we waited for our ice cream to be made (which took less than 10 minutes). I got the Mono Loco and my friend got the Cookie Monster. Mine was better, I dressed it up with lots of toppings. The shop is clean and the decor is cute. Lots of street parking. I'll definitely go again, it's a good spot to just hangout and catch up while enjoying various bubble tea and ice cream flavors. read more

I love this place! Service: The staff and owners are always super nice. They always greet you and have a smile on their face. It's hard to pick a favorite, but I'd say my top 3 are: smores, love bite, and fruity pebbles (not on the menu, just ask for it). Sometimes there is a wait for ice cream rolls...but that is normal! It's not something you go out and get quickly. It's something you enjoy and watch them make, sort of like entertainment. People nowadays are so impatient and inclined to complain. This review is only for the milk tea. I love thai rolled ice cream but we didn't get any this time. We got the regular milk tea with boba. I know, I know, I'm not being fair, (sort of) coming from the 626 area, but it needs to be relative to my other reviews so that I'm not sending my review readings flocking to Worcester... Hahaha just kidding. Anyhow. Their milk tea isn't too sweet, which is good. It's made with tea (which is made idk how) and coffee creamer (which is a bit old school considering now most places use fresh milk/lactaid or anyway, liquid instead of powder). The boba wasn't round and chewy, it was like not fully expanded and a little bit chewy (so it wasn't like HARD though, which is good). It just.. wasn't the best. But I guess it's good enough that a town..city? like this has at least a place that has this stuff (milk tea and rolled ice cream) so thats good. I would come back for ice cream though. read more

The worst customer service. Went here about a week ago to try their rolled ice cream but didn't get a chance to. It's partially because we went there 30 mins before closing..However, we weren't informed as soon as we walked in and weren't greeted as well. The workers seemed more so interested in talking to their friends and didn't acknowledge the customers. We didn't know where to order as the girl at the cash register didn't help or guide us, but just stared. As we walked up to order, she rudely said, "It's too late." Coming from California, i must say the price for the rolled ice cream is reasonable. However, the experience was miserable. My boyfriend and i walked into the new establishment on July 31st in the late afternoon, looking for an ice cream treat. We entered the new, uprising business and was greeted by a friendly cashier. We ordered a Dirty Joe, Chocolate heaven and pineapple boba tea. The cashier did warn us that there would be a half hour wait, which we agreed to. However it wasn't the wait that turned our mood, it was the fact that one of the guys who was making the rolled ice cream, skipped everyone's orders to make 3 of his friends' orders. When it was our turn, the same guy had made my boyfriend's ice cream smooth and how it's supposed to taste, and the other ice cream guy made mine crappy. My order was the chocolate heaven, but it tasted freezer burned, lacked chocolate and had poor presentation. To make it in the competitive world of small businesses, perhaps working on BETTER training, BETTER customer service and HIRING INDIVIDUALS WITH BETTER ATTITUDE. Don't work at a business where customer service is part of your job if you can't handle it. I'm sure if someone from the originated countries tasted the mimicked idea of rolled ice cream, they would be offended and compelled to school you in their art. read more

Being a huge boba fan, I've tried many shops and had my share of great, mediocre, and bad boba... but I can definitively say that this particular store has given me THE worst boba experience I've ever had. I came with a group of friends on a Friday night for ice cream rolls, but after we were told there would be a half hour wait, we all got boba instead. We ended up waiting over half an hour for everyone's drinks to come out anyway... Two of my friends had ordered honey milk tea and received honeydew milk tea..which was a bit of a red flag. Then after waiting for my matcha milk tea for an abnormally long time, my order number was skipped. I decided to check on it, only to find two drinks sitting on the counter. One of which I found out was mine (after waiting a few min to flag down an employee). Now, usually the "bad boba" I've had are watered down, tasteless... but the drinks my friends and I had tonight were so bad, they were undrinkable. The flavors were just completely wrong. My matcha milk tea was sour. My friend's honeydew tea seemed like a spoon of powder was thrown into water. My friend's honey milk tea had a strange, alien flavor to it. It was actually shocking just how abysmal these drinks were. Really, I thought that at the worst, you can at least use a powder and get the dilution wrong and end up with a watery but at least remotely tasting tea-like drink. But this... I enjoy going to juicy spot in boston, so when this spot opened I was there from day one and kept coming back even though the speed was not sufficient. I always order a wintermelon tea with no sugar, it's my favorite drink at any boba locations in boston, they make it too sweet here which is why I always remind them less or no sugar. Sometimes when I order my drink, I say wintermelon tea, but I get milk tea, I'm usually ok with it because it's not a big deal for me but maybe have the cashier specify if it's a milk tea or flavored tea. As for rolled ice cream I don't get it too often because of the wait time, so far since I've came here on multiple occasions, my ice cream was always made "ugly" I guess, or it wasn't rolled how it should be, again I think I'm pretty understanding and I usually tell them it's ok considering they always apologize and offer to make a new one, but considering it's so busy, honestly I'm not gonna make their life miserable to make a picture worthy ice cream that I will destroy, as long as they apologize, which they always do, I'm ok. The two things I would have to say is to train more? Everytime I come here it seems that there's 1 really good ice cream roller and the other one is just kinda messing up so it makes customers anticipate on who they're getting, why not just have everyone proficient on it? Also I would recommend putting a list of toppings on the glass in front of the ice cream rollers, not all customers will pick the toppings ahead of time, doing this will let them choose while watching you make it! Rule is, if everyone is trained the same, you get the same results. What a shame! Thai Style Ice Cream is super popular right now, and I was shocked at how wrong this place got it. There are at least a dozen places in Boston/Cambridge that are doing Thai Ice Cream Rolls, and they at least get it pretty close... this is way off. I went with people from Thailand, who are very familiar with what the dish should be like, and we've all been to the myriad of places from NY to Boston. Atmosphere: I don't put too much stock in atmosphere, since I've been to some real dives that make wonderful food. This place is shoddily renovated, and not super clean. Upon walking in, there was a group of kids sitting on a couch watching a sitcom. When we walked in, one of them got up and went behind the counter to talk to the other employees. The overall feeling was that the place was very amateurish, and not professional. Service: The girl who helped us was pretty friendly and greeted us warmly. There was another guy there who was making ice cream for the one other couple in the place, when he was done he went to join the other kids on the couch to watch the sitcom. Food: the ice cream was EXTREMELY sweet, and used pretty low quality milk. This is Worcester's first Thai Ice Cream Roll place, and it's a shame that they don't understand how to make it. I got the Cookie Monster, which had a ton of Hershey's syrup in it, and it was sickly sweet. The other person got Match Madness which was somehow even more sweet... Matcha shouldn't be sweet. I'm not sure if they thought that Americans have to eat really sweet things, or if they just don't understand how to make it. It wasn't just slightly sweet, it was way off. We took a few bites and then threw our bowls away. We wanted to say something to the staff, but the girl was helping someone else with a smoothie, and the guy was busy watching his TV. This place was hoppin busy and it takes a little bit of time, so don't expect to rush. They have some different seating options and games you can play but it is pretty rad to just stand and watch them make this ice cream. Toppings are unlimited so that is great but the flavors are what sets this place apart, and the obvious fact that the ice cream is made on frozen metal plates and scraped into delicate little rolls. I've always wanted to try rolled ice cream and tonight was finally the night! When entering Tastetea Rolls I was impressed by the decor and ambiance. The place looked like it would be fun to hang out! I ordered the matcha rolls. I liked the flavor of the matcha but the bean paste was very sweet. It tastes like freezer burned ice cream and melts much too quickly. At $6 per bowl and five rolls, I found the price to be a little extreme. A total experience they hand make each order starting with the ice cream base and add on fresh ingredients mashing and manipulating the liquid on a blast plate until flat & frozen then thinly shave it into 4-5 tight rolls placed in a dish and topped with an unlimited number of toppings...I asked for coconut flakes but that is not one of the options...that said I ordered a "wake me up" Vietnamese Coffee & Sweetened condensed milk" or traditional Cafe Suda...I added crushed Orio cookies at the end and whipped cream so good...$5.75 with "unlimited toppings" worth it in my opinion one size only...they also do Bubble teas & smoothies...I will be back! read more

One of the best places I've gone to for a quick bite. The young man who served us was so kind and polite, and was so grateful for the tip. (The service definitely deserved it!) The atmosphere was that of no other. There were two comfy nooks with pillows on opposite sides, and other various comfy seating choices. The place was playing chill music, and even had many board games for everyone to play! The place was so clean, and had beautiful lighting. The ice cream itself tasted immaculate; and the FREE toppings only enhances the amazing flavor. The bubble tea was very amazing as well. The medium size looks small at first, but the amount it actually has is very, very generous. The only things I wish I could change are the patches of carpet missing in the pillow nooks, and I would also maybe give them a wash from time to time. Let me preface this review by saying this is my first time posting but my experience was so absolutely abhorred that I was compelled to make an account to dispel whatever myths other posters may be propagating. I will divide my review into sections for better clarity. Service: When we first entered, my friends were told that the order for ice cream rolls would have been approximately thirty minutes, which is understandable because the process of actually making the rolls is quite arduous. This was not as much a concern for me because I intended to get boba anyway but I say this just to set the baseline expectations of the visit. I ordered a honeydew green tea with boba, said in those exact words in order to prevent confusion with their honeydew milk tea. I assumed my order had been processed correctly so I thought nothing of it until I decided to absently look at my receipt to kill the time. Honeydew milk tea. As someone who is severely lactose intolerant, I made sure to rectify the issue and asked the same person who took my order that I thought there was a mistake and asked instead for the standard tea, no milk. He was very nice about it, took my receipt and crossed out the milk tea and wrote green tea on it. He then went away from the cashier, presumably to change the order receipt as well. Then came the long wait. My entire group had also ordered a variety of different types of tea with boba, which could certainly have exacerbated how long it took for our orders to be completed, but it took approximately thirty minutes for the first person to get their order (and in total, an hour or more for everyone to get their orders). As a reminder, they initially told us that it would take thirty minutes for our order to be processed and completed (at the time, it was quite crowded and other people were already waiting for their ice cream rolls). To understand how the ice cream rolls are handmade: it is a process that requires taking the individual ingredients, mashing them up, layering them together, flattening them out, waiting for them to freeze, and then individually rolling them up. We ordered their teas under the assumption that the wait would be shorter. Because the teas were individually brought up from an out of sight kitchen area, I cannot say how the orders were filled (whether the teas were brewed or made from a powder) but I cannot conceivably understand how it could take that long to fill one order. Quality of Product: I will be the first to say my standards for food and drinks are fairly low; I eat out of necessity and I am not one to complain about tea because it is essentially hot leaf juice. What I received was not tea. It was so diluted to the point where I could not taste the honeydew, the tea, or any semblance or fruit or syrup. What I did taste, however, was milk. I'm not sure if anyone has tried diluted milk but it tastes absolutely horrible. Add to the fact that I am severely lactose intolerant and it made for another unpleasant experience an hour later. To summarize: it sucked getting in and it sucked going out. The boba itself was variable. Some pieces were so soft that they broke apart fairly easily when chewed and other pieces were still hard and grainy. In an effort to provide positive feedback, the ice was fine. Did its job. Kept my drink cool. I decided not to talk to the management about my order because they had already confused my friend's order for something entirely different and at that point we were already so tired of the place that we did not want to wait any longer for a replacement. I also did not wish to conduct my inevitable bowel movements in a public bathroom. In the end, as per the advice of my friend who told me not to waste my calories, I threw out the drink with at least half of it still remaining. Ambience: The establishment itself is rather cute; it is a well lit area with couches and little seating areas appropriate for any size group. There are tables for available to couples who made the misfortune of deciding to make their first impressions with each other here. To their credit, if the owners of this establishment intended to remove the social crutch of having some food product serve as the basis of initiating conversation (and instead force couples to bypass small talk and engage in deeper subjects), they succeeded. However, one must also recognize that with the amount of time it takes for an order to be completed, these cute couple seating areas are more likely to be occupied by a single patron waiting for his/her order. They also have larger seating areas, like couches, available with board games which I am sure was intended to be a way for the establishment to become a type of local watering hole. However, it is more likely that a full game of Monopoly could be completed prior to your entire group getting their orders. Bathroom was clean; no complaints there. First time here but I have been to a ice cream roll place before. The owner was a jerk and his employees were inexperienced and slow. The wait was outrageous for what we ended up with. The ice cream was very brittle and had a frost biten after taste. We couldnt even finish the ice cream it was that bad. They take very little care in making the customer satisified it's like they don't care at all. Very disappointed and don't recommend this place to anyone. The one and only place you can get rolled ice cream right here in Worcester! My favorite is "Love Bite" with added strawberries and condensed milk! So good! I also love the "Dirty Joe" (Vietnamese coffee) yum! Nice clean and spacious atmosphere and the owner is great. I never had an issue with wait time.. and it's fairly priced!
