Not everything was fantastic, but the overall quality of the food items we ordered was well beyond expectations. We ordered takeout, and our order was ready at the expected time. The only comment I'll make on online ordering is that the first available pick-up slot was about an hour after we placed our order. Plan accordingly. In terms of the food, we were generally impressed. The falafel plate was generally good, but not fantastic. The falafel was a little doughy and lacking in crunch or herb content. The pickled beets on the platter were a very nice addition. So a mixed bag. The mujaddara was excellent, with nicely caramelized onions. The musabaha was interesting and flavorful, but it didn't seem to survive the drive home particularly well. The fatoosh salad was good, with extremely crispy pita chips. That having been said, the lettuce was starting to wilt by the time it got home. Possibly unavoidable. The hummus was excellent, and the spinach and feta pie was fantastic. So generally good food, with a relatively small number of minor misses. Overall, this is a reasonable takeout operation. There were a handful of people enjoying the bar when we picked up our order, but I'm not sure I would opt for using the space as a drinking destination.

This restaurant is located right on E Carson St in the South side. Whenever we entered the restaurant at shortly before noon, we were the only patrons there. As you would expect then we were promptly greeted and given our choice of tables. The inside of this restaurant had a number of tables, murals on the exposed brick wall, a bar and then a display case for some of their baked goods. For lunch on this day I decided to go with the moussaka while my wife went with the falafel sandwich. Since I had ordered an entree, I got a salad while my wife did not and that came out first. It consisted of some heavily dressed lettuce and then a couple of slices of both tomatoes and cucumbers. The dressing had a slight mint flavor which I enjoyed and was refreshing on the salad. I also enjoyed how heavily dressed it was but can imagine others who would not. Once I had finished with the salad the rest of our food came out. My moussaka ended up being decent and I really enjoyed the bechamel on the top. Then while I liked both the meat and eggplant, I wish that there had been a bit of a thicker layer of each as most of the moussaka ended up being bechamel and potato. My wife enjoyed her falafel pita with her favorite part being the crunchy falafel. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. It has been a long time since I have had moussaka and so it definitely hit the spot for me and I would be interested in trying more of their food in the future.

Their food is full of flavor and always fresh. Their grape leaves are some of my favorite around - even my husband will eat them and he often doesn't care for them. Their menu is extensive and for me specifically it is the most amazing joy to have vegetarian option after option when so many other places are limited for me. I have made a meal out of the vegetarian combo platter before, which is an appetizer platter perfect for splitting between two people. Tonight we did exactly that and everything is evenly portioned for two which is so nice, nobody getting more of one thing than another. It has grape leaves, baba ghanoush, hummus, falafel and tabouli. Perfect combo of flavors and comes with pita for dipping or piling it all on. Our absolutely lovely server also offered some hot sauce which seemed to be homemade and, although I am not a big hot anything person, smelled delicious. Along with other platters, rolled pitas and salads, they have a long list of pita pizzas which I had never previously tried so we decided to go with one of those to split. We got one with garlic butter, roasted spinach, banana peppers, tomatoes and feta and it was a very good choice. The pita itself had a somewhat smoky flavor from the char and I liked how that was thin and kept the focus on the plentiful toppings. They also have some fantastic desserts here. Just look at the case and you will be convinced. There were a couple of chocolate cakes that looked delicious but we went for the carrot cake and it was fantastic with visible pieces of carrot and walnuts. We were very full and thinking about skipping dessert but splitting this was worth it. There is ample inside seating, just a simple no-frills environment but comfortable, and during the summer they set up a few tables outside on Washington Road which I have enjoyed eating at before. Overall this is an extremely solid Mediterranean spot, and I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered here. Pro tip: if you can't find a spot at the meters on Washington or the nearby side streets, the public parking garage across the street isn't as expensive as you would think, about $2.50 for up to two hours and a flat rate of $2 evenings after 6 p.m.

It's got a nice location on the central road in Squirrel Hill, but it's a bit hard to find parking. When I got there, I got to try their shish tawouk (chicken kabob), mujadara, salad with feta, and iced mint tea. The tea was pretty alright. Refreshing and a nice mint flavor; I think they might make the blend in house. They also brought out some nice pita before we started the meal. For my main course, I ordered the shish tawouk. You usually get this meal with the rice pilaf, but they were out, so I got to try the mujadara. I'm actually quite glad! The chicken was tender, and the portion was very fair. They served it with a nice tomato sauce, but I also asked for some garlic sauce on the side. The sauces both seem to be homemade, and definitely go well with the chicken. The mujadara was surprisingly delicious. They top the dish with crispy sweet onions. It's a mix of lentils and some other grain. Very good! One thing to mention generally is this place closes quite early, usually around 8 or 8:30 PM, so do keep it in mind. It is also very clearly a family endeavor, with the mom managing most of the tables and the kids always helping out. Very nice place!

It's located in Carrick in a questionable part of the neighborhood, I've lived here for over 39 years and never noticed it. The chicken seems to be flavorless Frozen chicken strips instead of actual seasoned Middle Eastern chicken and the gyro does not do anything for me either. The only reason he gets three stars is because he is so nice and it's family-owned.
