I stopped by here for a second time a couple of Saturdays ago for dinner with my wife and twins. We had found Jolinas on Yelp and ended up placing our order online for a time a little bit in the future, 5 Pm. The restaurant itself is right on Brookline Blvd and has limited parking out in front of it. Thankfully there was a spot on the day we were there and I was able to run in to pick up our food. It was ready whenever I got there and a nice older gentlemen who I think was the owner helped to check me out. Since I got a to go order I didn't get to see much of the restaurant. What I did see was their kitchen right behind the cash register, a cooler with beverages and not much more. For dinner on this evening I went with the Jolina's Mashawi Platter and chose the artichoke salad as my side while my wife went with the lamb Kebab with Rice and chose the Mediterranean salad as her salad. We also ordered our kids the gyro over rice and chose the grilled cheese wrap as our side. The menu described my meal as Side kafta, side chicken shawarma, side beef, and side of tawook on a bed of rice served with your choice of salad while my wife's and kids were both self explanatory. I first started off with my meal and thought that it was quite good. There was an ample amount of well seasoned rice and I really enjoyed the different meats that came with it. On both of my visits the meat was seasoned nicely although it was a little drier on my second visit vs my first one. Still I enjoyed it both times. After the meal I was able to enjoy the artichoke salad which was fantastic. It consisted of 3 large hunks of artichoke with some paprika and a dressing and I really enjoyed it. The artichokes were tangy and it was a great change from a regular salad. My wife enjoyed her lamb kebab here and both of my twins really enjoyed the gyro meat and fries. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future and already have. My wife and I really enjoyed all of the food that we had here and I love their artichoke salad. read more

The staff is kind and happy to explain to you the food and how it is prepared. they informed us that all of their food is cooked, strictly in high-quality olive oil. The restaurant is relatively small, but efficiently designed and offers options for groups to sit together. The decorations are also excellent and fit the culture. My coworker told me about this place, so I ordered takeout to give it a try. I ordered a few apps and sides, and had myself a delicious girl dinner! I ordered the hummus, side of veggies, the homemade yogurt (Laban), and the spanakopita. I also ordered a homemade iced tea. You can tell everything is made fresh and with love. I placed my order online and everything was ready 15 minutes later. The portions are generous and it was enough for me to eat leftovers for a couple of days. I ordered takeout on a Saturday evening and when I went to pick up my food, I noticed there was no one in the Resturant (either dining in or picking up). Very friendly greeting when we walked in for dinner. Hummus was a little loose and tahini forward, but still tasty. The chicken was very tender. The chicken shawarma sandwich was quite large and well worth the cost. I also really enjoyed the iced tea. The dining area is on the smaller side - maybe 6-8 tables. We brought our film crew from Cleveland to shoot our last day of filming and had lunch at Jolinas Mediterranean. The best food in town bar none! The falafel and hummus was incredible. Our family wanted to try some ethnic food that had many vegetarian options. Jolina's popped up as a suggested restaurant, and we are happy we checked this place out. All of us liked it. The lady was really nice, and had a table ready for us at 1:30 pm as we had requested. We tried a few of the appetizers. I had the lentil soup which was good and I was surprised by the lemony flavor that it seemed to have. My son had the spanakopita, which he absolutely loved, and my daughter had the spinach pie, which she liked a lot. After that we went for the vegetarian Mazza, which was an assortment of falafel, baba ganoush, hummus, grape leaves stuffed with rice, etc. All the items were fresh and tasted delicious. We finished off with Baklavas for dessert: simply superb. The ambience is simple, but clean. It is very obvious that the owner couple are working hard to run a Lebanese restaurant and are managing on a tight budget. I will strongly recommend this place, especially if you are a vegetarian. The food here is really delicious! It's one of the best Mediterranean restaurants in Pittsburgh. The prices are amazing as well. Yesterday, I tried their spanakopita, rice pudding, and kunefe. All of it was truly delicious. Their spanakopita was excellent. It was crispy, filled with loads of spinach, a nice amount of cheese, and the portion was great. I also appreciate that they weren't too buttery (although they did clearly did butter up the filo, it just wasn't excessive). You get 2 of them for just $6. If you order for takeout or delivery, heat them up after you receive them. The warm spanakopita make for a fantastic light dinner or snack. The kunefe was somewhat untraditional, but I still loved it. Normally, kunefe is made with a cheese. Here, there is no cheese, but you still get the sugar syrup, shredded philo, and what seems like nuts. It was also delicious and maybe even better than some of the traditional versions I've tried. Crunchy, nutty, and sweet. For just $3! The rice pudding was also tasty and comforting. They pack a lot of the pudding into a container! It was very heavy when I picked it up. The flavor and consistency was perfect: lightly sweet and lusciously creamy. Such a great take on a classic. Also for just $3 (and an incredible portion)! Overall, this is a great place to get some snacks or a light dinner. I'd like to come back and try some of their meats. But, their desserts are delicious and spanakopita is incredible. I have ordered Jolena's via Uber eats twice recently. My sister and I had an amazing dinner delivered last week. My Yai yai would have loved Jolena's. It's the first place I have had dolmas (grapeleaves) anywhere near the quality of hers. They use really good feta. This last time we had a Greek salad we split. Meat and rice stuffed grapleaves for me and mint and rice for my sister. We also ordered babaganoush and hummus as starters. We had enough food for probably three meals. I love their Greek dressing olive oil and lemon and spices. It's just light and perfect for summer. Also if you like Massah platters they have a divine cabbage salad here. Since I'm staying local and not wanting to venture out too far, I looked up restaurants in the area and came across this place. It is located at the end of the main drag in Brookline and looks small and humble on the outside. Upon walking in and then into the dining room I was taken aback by the lovely decor. I ordered the Foole, Jolina's stuffed meat bread, and Jolina's stuffed chicken, served with pita bread. I loved the Foole as it looked and tasted so authentic and home made. I also really liked the bread stuffed with meat as it went down very well and I probably could have finished the whole dish. The bread stuffed with chicken and green peppers was decent. For dessert I had the Namoura. It was on the sweet side for me but bear in mind I'm on a diet during the week so am not able to handle sweets as effectively. It was good but I feel, and this is just a personal preference of mine on dessert, it would be better with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, maybe garnishes with cardamom or even orange zest...that's the wannabe chef in me coming out. Anyway, I was able to dilute the sweetness of the Namoura with Turkish coffee that was amazing and made me feel like I was in a different country. The woman serving me was very nice. I spoke with the staff for a bit and they were very pleasant. I took a lot of my food to go and am looking forward to devouring it next day. This is my favorite Mediterranean restaurant in the south hills. The chicken shawarma literally melts in your mouth and the baba ghanoush has such a delightful smoky flavor I could eat it with a spoon (and sometimes do). The fatoosh was so tasty. I think the dressing is a red wine base and the fried pita chips are addictive. I was watching the nighttime local news, and the reporter was talking about how Jolina's Mediterranean restaurants had experienced hardship from someone blocking the locks on her business doors and also cars crashing the storefront of her other business. I decided to show my support and place an order for delivery. Here are my ratings for her foods: Hummus - 5 stars - This hummus is a bit more liquid that what my husband and I are used to, but it tasted very good. Pita - 5 stars - This pita bread was very thin but very large in diameter. We enjoyed its taste. Potato salad - 4 stars - This potato salad is not your typical American style. It contains no mayonnaise. Instead it contains potato cubes, tomatoes, parsley, mint, and onions--all of which I liked. Baklava - 5 stars - I was supposed to receive the rice pudding, but Jolina called me on the phone to tell me that the rice pudding was sold out and to select a different dessert as a substitute. I chose the baklava. The baklava was smaller in size than I expected, but it tasted wonderfully sweet and nutty. Beef kabob - 3 stars - This kabob was not on a skewer but was 4-5 chunks of beef in a small container. The beef could have been a bit juicier and more tender, but the seasoning was OK. Gyro sandwich - 4 stars - This gyro was huge! But my husband ate the entire thing. (He found room in his stomach for this gyro, even right after I had cooked him a dinner of crab cakes!) I appreciate that the chef paid attention to not add tomatoes as my husband had requested. Chicken shawarma with rice - 3 stars - The chicken and rice were cooked and seasoned nicely, but the dish was not my husband's favorite. This restaurant is nestled on Brookline Blvd - there's plenty of on street parking. Jolina's is like walking into your family's house. You enter in the little lobby, where there is a kitchen in front of you and the dining room is to the left of you. The family who runs Jolina's is so friendly- one of their daughters is your waitress. This restaurant is BYOB! They have a bottle opener, so just bring your own wine! We hit up the restaurant around 7:30pm - there were other groups eating, but we got seated right away. Although, all of our food ended up coming out at the same - it was all wonderful. To start, we ordered two appetizers. My dad ordered the meat grape leaves - I'm not the biggest fan of them, but he said they were delicious. We also ordered the baba ganoush. It's the best I've ever had. For my entree, I ordered the chicken kebabs (they ask if you want the white meat or dark meat) I opted for the white meat. With the entree, you get a choice of side salad - I tried the Mediterranean salad. The chicken kebabs also come with a generous portion of rice. It is literally the best five I've ever eaten in my entire life. My parents ordered some baklava to go - they said it was delicious.
