Do NOT waste your time, this place has unfortunately fallen off. Anywhere serving wine by the 5OZ's is not worth your money or time these days, if you show up on a Saturday and the entire dining room is empty that should tell you all you need to know. I have always enjoyed this restaurant but haven't been since their old location (I live about an hour away). Their new location is very nice with ample parking. I have only ever come here for authentic Szechuan dishes. The negative reviews seem to focus on more Americanized dishes so bring your willingness to try new things here. If you ever want to read an interesting story, go and look up "Peter Chang". He was a chef renowned for traveling around and starting Sichuan restaurants in the US who spent some time in Atlanta. I've been to the original Tasty China in Marietta many years ago where I was first introduced to Sichuan food. I have been to several other similar restaurants over the years. This Tasty China is the closest to what I remember. I'll say right up front, you have to know what to order. Hint. Hint. This is a "Chinese" restaurant. Avoid the "American" style. You have been warned. Bamboo fish, dry fried eggplant, Shan city beef or chicken is a good start. All very similar in style except for the main meat or vegetable. Hot and Numbing Beef is definitely an interesting treat if you have not tried Sichuan food before. My go to is usually the lunch specials. You get a large portion of food with white or fried rice and a soup. Double cooked pork (belly), beef with wild pepper, chicken/beef with scallion and chili, or Changsha beef are in my normal rotation. My favorite however is Hunan chicken. The chicken is sliced thin and is fresh. Chili oil and hot peppers with leeks and a black bean sauce. Try that and you will be back for more! read more

I used to visit TC in their old location, which was always a little seedy. Today was my first time at the new location because I had moved away for a couple years. My buddy and I love TC, and have a few favorites we always order. For apps, we got the hot and numbing pork belly and the dry fried eggplant. The pork belly is the only thing I've had there over the last 15+ years that I didn't care for. My buddy agreed. The fried zucchini is amazing and possibly the best thing on the menu. For our entrees, we got the bamboo fish, the thin sliced beef, and the chicken with green onions. All are excellent. If you don't like a little spice, cilantro, onion, or garlic, don't come here. I ordered Bamboo shoots with pork, spicy crispy beef, and a wonton soup. They didn't have bamboo shoots. The spicy crispy pork was very chewy and NOT crispy at all. I then substituted hunan chicken for the bamboo shoots with pork. Menu clearly stated that there were snow peas but none was given. When I asked about it, server said that they were probably out of it too. Well, I wasn't informed about it when I ordered and I didn't want to send it back. Chef just thought he could get away with it. I ordered it because of the snow peas. I then asked for a little scallions for my wonton soup. And was told they were out of scallions as well. What's better than a warm cup of wonton soup on a wintry day? That's the first thing I ordered at Tasty China on my first visit. I noticed a new location/new build and made a mental note to try it the next time I was in the mood for Chinese food. It was a solid visit, which makes me pleased to give five stars on my final review of 2023! First, I noticed right away the 100 A rating for its latest health inspection score. That made me feel confident about our visit. By the way, there was a sign out front indicating Tasty China had been in business for 18 years, but it's new to me. The menu was robust - thank goodness our waitress was patient because it took me a moment to decide what to try beyond the wonton soup. I settled upon chicken and broccoli with steamed rice. It's such a healthy portion I have enough for 1-2 meals at home. It's a super casual, clean vibe. You'd expect the latter for a brand new build. I noticed there was an elevator, so I think there may be a top floor for dining. I'm not sure as we were seated in a window booth near the hostess stand. We experienced no wait on a Saturday afternoon., but there was a steady crowd. Parking is easy with the attached lot. It was good enough we'll be back to explore the menu a bit more! For a drink, I got the Year of the Dragon cocktail. The Bamboo Fish was crispy and delicious but the Beef and Wild Pepper was a little disappointing. Tasty China has moved locations a couple of times. It had a longstanding reputation for outstanding food coupled with subpar service. Their new Powers Ferry location stays on brand. We showed as a group of 6 and were seated relatively promptly for lunch. It took about 15 minutes to get someone to take an order from us. And that only occurred after we asked 3 different employees that we're ready to order. The lunch special menu is actually a decent deal, and most of us ordered from there. Sizable portions. The eggplant and spicy garlic sauce was indeed tasty, though I should note that these portion sizes are ideally consumed family style. So if people have an idea as to what they're willing to share amongst each other, that could provide for an even better meal. I thought it was funny that their bar had napkins with the FLIP Burger boutique brand logo on them. Not judging. Just funny. Note that, given our party size, the tip was automatically included. I got the dan dan noodles. I do wish the portion size was larger but it's listed under dim sum so I guess it's not meant to be a full meal? But they should have an option to have you get a larger size for people who want to have it as a full meal. I did not find the dan dan noodles spicy or numbing at all. I'm not the biggest fan of the numbing feeling so its' fine but it definitely could've been a lot spicier. The sauce was very tasty but way too salty in my opinion. A major disappointment...I'll never go back. The sad thing is I've been here before, when they first opened, and the food was delicious. I don't know if they changed chefs, but this time the food was inedible. I spent over $16 on a lunch I couldn't even eat. I ordered the C7, which was supposed to be a fiery chicken dish with a side of rice. I specifically asked for fried rice, as can be seen on the receipt. They gave me white rice. Check the photo! Don't get me wrong, the dish was spicy, but the other flavorings and seasonings made the dish taste terrible. I tried mixing it all together. It didn't help. The photo shown on their website did not even resemble what was given to me. The dish I got was pretty much chopped red peppers and chunks of tough pieces of chicken. I tried to give some to my dog, but she wouldn't even touch it. It got even worse when I took my lunch to go and went back to the restaurant to let them know that something wasn't quite right. The girl working there just shook her head and ignored me as she continued to take calls. Maybe for orders? I don't know. I got tired of waiting and left. I did not get my money back and no one offered to remake the dish. I can understand the chef had an off day, grabs the wrong spice, etc., but make it right.
