It's a great little shop. Just a fun shop to visit. Service was great and we ordered and sampled several different hot dogs. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is I found most dogs a little sweet for my pallet. That is more of a personal preference. read more

I am not much of an all beef dog girl so I wouldn't naturally gravitate to a hot dog place but I'm glad I did! They were welcoming and explained the menu system. You can order on a tablet or with the person behind the counter. If you show a ticket for a nearby show at one of the many theatres nearby you get 10 percent off. Parking is available at the Ohio statehouse garage for $5 during theatre evenings. I ordered a hot dog on gluten free bun with green Chicago relish and sweet coney sauce and nachos with homemade chili and mild cheese sauce. Both were exceptional! I'm not a huge hot dog fan, but I appreciate a good one, and I like visiting the gourmet hotdog places once in a while. And I saw this place has an elote dog right now, on a pretzel bun, and I love pretzel buns and corn and spice and got here as soon as I could. It's a little place on High. I parked at the statehouse garage. Not busy at 630pm on a weekday, but I bet it gets very busy at peak. Super friendly owner (I assume) and his name is Mark as well, so that was nice. I just went with the elote dog and got a combo, so I added coleslaw and a drink. It was plenty. I was not starving when I arrived, so two dogs might be a more normal meal for me. But it's a pretty good size dog, and a pretty good all beef one, on a good bun, with corn and cheese and a tiny bit of heat. Not as messy as I figured, but I was glad for the tray. Oh, and crumbled tortillas on top. Anyway, a good blend of flavors, a good dog. And the slaw was creamy and tasty. All of that for under $20, which is a pretty good deal. They also have chicken sandwiches and salads and Chicago beef sandwiches, and ice cream. Fairly small space, but plenty of options, even if you're not really looking to have a dog. Super friendly staff. Talked to me while I sat there by myself, but also was very personable with everybody who came in, either to pick up Uber Eats or to dine in. I will definitely be back. I went there for the hot dog but left impressed with the selection of Mac bowls which all looked really good. But for the hot dog, the Sweet Teddy's Coney was incredible. Throwing on some relish was a nice call, getting it on a sturdy pretzel bun was a good call, and getting this dog in general was the best call. But as it turned out, Tasty Dawg was a GREAT FAMILY EXPERIENCE: really tasty food, friendly and speedy service and a cool, city vibe (reminded me of hole-in-the-wall spots in NYC, but much more clean). I had a build your own dog (I could have made better choices), my wife had their Chicago dog (and went back for seconds!), and my daughter was uncharacteristically adventurous with her order of their crab Rangoon dog. Highly recommend checking places out. I was downtown for work and needed lunch. Used Yelp to determine a place to try that was walking distance. Ordered a Chicago Dog with a fountain drink. The dog was fully loaded and hit the spot! It was fully eaten less than 5 mins because I just couldn't put it down. Very savory with lots of good flavors and spice. Beyond dogs, I realized they also sold sandwiches and mac & cheese bowls. I look forward to trying this next time. Lastly, when you stop by, be sure to get a punch card. They're running a promotion- the most punches, the more likely to get something free! The service was top tier. Came across Tasty Dawg on Yelp when looking for dinner. Upon coming in, we were warmly welcomed and the restaurant was clean. The menu had many options, was very reasonably priced, and I loved how you could customize dishes and "make your own". The owner of the business chatted us up as we waited for our food and he was so kind-- you can definitely tell he cares about what he does and the community. We ordered 2 hot dogs, red potatoes, chicken and bacon Mac n cheese bowl, and nachos. The hot dogs were TO DIE FOR and the Mac and cheese was mouth watering. Nice storefront on High Street, with plenty of light and fresh air circulating through and friendly customer service is how I would describe Tasty Dawg downtown. The spicy dawg I got was pretty big, pleasing to the palate, and plenty filling with a side of baked beans to chase it all down. Though I think normally $12 would be pricey for one hot dog, I totally understand why that would be the price point in a place that gets spotty customer attendance at best (downtown is still mostly dead on weekends). This place is a whole lot like being in New York City! Having emerged from the Nut & Sweet shop across the street (See my other review about the Planters Nut Shop) My attention turned to finding a quick place to grab a bite to eat for lunch. I spotted Tasty Dawg and was sold by the signs on the window alone. I've never been to this little shop before, but haven't been to similar styled places in New York City I had a pretty good idea what I was in for. And, I was correct. Lots of specialty hotdogs on the menu some interesting side dishes and very, very reasonable prices. The shop is clean and well organized, and staffed with friendly, helpful people. Be sure to check out the hot dog mascot character statue in the dining area! I feel like this is an area theme, with Mr. Peanut right across the street!!! The menu I reviewed had 11 specialty dogs on it, and I selected the familiar chili cheese dog which came on a toasted pretzel bun - the bun was soft & tender on the inside with a firm crust on the outside - perfectly prepared. The toppings were generous and the spices used to prepare the sauce were flavorful. As a side I selected White Cheddar Mac N Cheese. It was another winner! Plenty of cheese here and the noodles were soft but held their firm consistency. Not overcooked and pasty like some macaroni and cheese that I've had elsewhere. So amazing, So tasty and So friendly! Mark the store owner created such a friendly and INCLUSIVE environment. It is absolutely rare to see such a great store owner! He talks to every customer, gets to know each one, gives amazing free samples and has a wicked sense of humor. Bathrooms are squeaky clean. Between the two of we got the Chicago Dawg, Sweet Teddys, and a Hawaiian. Two had pretzel buns and 1 had original bun with seeds. They were soft and not too hard to eat. All were messy but delicious! Highly recommended the Hawaiian if you like bbq. The loaded tots were ok. Soft, not crunchy with chili and lots of mustard. I wouldn't get the tots again but someone may like it. They also have Perry's ice cream. It was good. Yelp has a coupon if you check in but the new owner wasn't aware of it but still honored it. As a connoisseur of hotdogs this place is one of Ohio's best. My buddies and I travel all over the WV and Ohio to try the best hotdogs. This place was not on our recommended list, but so amazing. We stumbled upon this gem bc of a Hamilton play nearby . The hot dogs are amazing and even my non hotdog eating children and wife loved the hotdogs here. My oldest daughter got the Mac and cheese and loved it too. The coney sauce is very sweet but savory. The regular chili sauce is also really good , but is a better version of hormel sauce. I've past this location numerous times since they filled the old Subway spot, so I finally popped in. Tasty Dawg is a small restaurant with about six or so small table tops, and a wide array of hot dog related options and ice cream. The staff is the best part of this location - friendly, thoughtful, and efficient. I'd only come in for a vegan dog, but ended up getting a combo with tator tots and a drink. Admittedly, I didn't need the drink but got a water anyway. The vegan dog was okay, nothing too spectacular. The encasement on the dog was a little tough but the dog was fairly tasty. The tater tots weren't too bad since they air fry them and not grease fry them. THAT is a big plus! Nothing worse than a little heartburn from fried tater tots. Not this time though, and I'm glad. My biggest gripe would be the cleanliness. The table tops looked like they hadn't been cleaned all day, so where I sat was littered with crumbs. The cost was okay, considering it's in the heart of downtown. I spent around $14 after a tip. Will I go again? Possibly when I'm in the mood for a vegan dog and don't wanna cook. For now, it's a decent little place to visit occasionally. Again, super sweet staff! It was a family-like atmosphere. read more
