I'm glad this place has a food truck that came to my work! I got a chicken, cheese and a beef empanadas. The shell is crispy and light, and the fillings hot and delicious l! I also got a tres leches cake. It was a lot of food, so I popped them in the toaster oven and enjoyed them the next day. The ladies at the food truck were nice and helpful. I hope that they come back to the Alexander Bell drive location again soon.

*Late night, but not night yet post* So I took the flight (a fun colloquial euphemism for me driving) out to this farm in Maryland for a food truck event. What a dope place with a store, moon bounces, animals, & food!! Let's GO!! . Where I am: @tastyempanadas.md on the grounds of @maryslandfarm . Location Reviewed: 4979 Sheppard Ln, Ellicott City Maryland . Menu Includes: *See Website* www.tastyempanadas.net . Items Reviewed: Their Mandioca Fries (These are also known as Yucca fries, but not in Paraguay...with an aioli $7). STAMP!! Best Yucca fries I've had...no dip needed!! Their Sopa (a native Paraguayan dish like cornbread, with corn & cheese $4). DELICIOUS. Surprisingly wet, & not as cheesy as I thought it would be. Their Chipa (a cheese flavored pastry $4). LIKE THAT!! It's a mild cheese dust, with a tough exterior but soft interior...different!! The Empanadas *3 for $16.25* The Spinach Empanada (with spinach, ricotta cheese, peppers, & their green salsa). DELICIOUS. I needed a tad bit more seasoning to the spinach. The Beef Empanada (with red & green peppers, & their salsa). STAMP!! Plentiful, well seasoned, the salsa set these off!! The Chicken Empanada (with red, & green peppers, & their salsa). STAMP!! A earthy seasoning, different, meaty, & taken to another level with the salsa!! Their Materva & Guaraná sodas (Cuban made, & Brazilian made, but Paraguayan drank $4 each). STAMP!! The first is like a cream soda, the second is like fruit punch soda!! Their Churros (with caramel sauce $7.50). LIKE THAT!! Crunchy but soft, STAMP their sweet gooey caramel sauce!! Their Pastafrola (a short crust pastry with a guava fruit jam $5). STAMP!! A shortbread pie tart!!! Their Alfajor (a sugar, butter, cornstarch cookie with a dulce de leche center $3.75). STAMP!! The BEST one I've had!! Soft, sweet, tasty!! . Customer Service: On Point!! . Online Navigation: Easy . Parking: Rough!! . Music: YouTube: N.E.G Pocket . Recommendations: Get those Nadas & the sweets!! 5 Stars=STAMP 4 1/2 Stars=LIKE THAT 4 Stars=DELICIOUS 3 Stars=DECENT 2 Stars=PASS 1 Star=NAH #Bigschlimsreviews

Spotted this when driving past the Circuit Court for Howard County. I had a spinach and a beef empanada (I think I accidentally got chicken). Both had a nice pastry crust and decent amount of filling. I liked the spinach best. The mild sauce was a nice addition too. Customer service was friendly and helpful. I asked questions and each was answered patiently. It looked like a family business. The truck looked clean and the counter was clean. My food was boxed nicely and o got napkins :). I would go back and try other flavors. I wanted the corn casserole but I didn't want cold food. Maybe next time they won't be refrigerated, idk.

The cookie This was the star of the show. I loved the soft shortbread texture of the cookie with the dulce de leche filled middle and the coconut on the outside. Perfect amount of sweetness, not overpowering at all. #ThisFeedsMySoul Beef Empanada Perfect golden fried outside. Stuffed very well. The beef was dry ok the inside. The sweet relish/salsa that goes with it has enough tang and sweet with the liquid to moisten up the meat. Cheese Excellent amount of cheese inside. I would've loved to have the option to wait and have this empanada made fresh, as it was just warm so no cheese pull. Since all the empanadas were dry, I am not sure if that is the custom for Paraguayan empanadas or if it was because they are kept warm in a warming oven? A little dryer than I like my empanadas, otherwise they were good. The cookie increased the rating to 4 stars. The owner is super nice and very friendly. Love that it's woman owned and made it through the pandemic. I love how she packed the to go box like a mom does...with love, care and considerately packed.

When I tell you I daydream about these empanadas sometimes! I've tried quite a few empanadas and many of them, while having pretty good filling, don't have the type of flakey pastry quality I like. Tasty Empanadas definitely comes through with both amazing filling and an amazing crispy outside! My favorite by far is the cheese empanada. The owner told me that while this empanada is not necessarily authentic, it is a fan favorite among her kids. She blends three or four different cheeses all together resulting in some of the most satisfying cheese pulls you'll ever see. The chicken empanada is really amazing too and seasoned to perfection. I also love how there are options for vegetarians like beans, cheese, and spinach. Each empanada comes with dipping sauces that are super tasty and don't overwhelm the overall flavor of the empanada. I love this place because it is family owned and operated. It's run by a woman who works very hard to make these empanadas fresh every single day and many times you can find her kids working the counter for her. Sometimes they run back to the kitchen to heat up fresh batches and I've read that people get confused by this and think the stall is closed. I, however, think this is a great sign of a restaurant that cares about putting fresh, quality food into the hands of their customers despite maybe being a little understaffed. Don't be dissuaded by the lack of staff at the stall, they usually have a sign up indicating where they are and whether they are closed or not. I don't even live near here but any chance I get, I come by to get my empanada fix. Thank you Lourdes and her team for making these tasty treats!

The service was fast .... I had to repeat my order the young lady wasn't catching it the first time lol but that was ok .... She got it right in the end .... My first experience was a Yelp elite event which left an impression on me that's why I returned and yes I'm still impressed ..... I don't know which one is my favorite I'm stumped .... They're all so good

Heard good reviews about this place so my friend & I decided to try it. It's located inside the Common Kitchen in Clarksville. We got beef, chicken, Sausage & cheese. $5 each but you get $1 off for 3. The empanadas are big & stuffed really well with filling, The pastry is flaky and although fried, was not greasy. The chicken (shredded) empanada was seasoned well & quite tasty. The beef was unfortunately boring - it needed something...also we thought it was supposed to have some egg in it but we didn't see any. The cheese was just okay but the sausage was delicious! You get this little cup of salsa for each empanada you order & that was a perfect compliment for the empanadas . We also tried their desserts . We both had the alfajor cookie which we really liked . The guava tart was like a shortbread cookie with guava jam on top . Both good but we prefer something sweeter for dessert.

These empanadas were delicious and I am so glad that we finally got to try it them! I have seen post of these tasty empanadas everywhere and now I understand why! We went to the Common Kitchen for another Yelp Elite perk and imagine my surprise when I saw the Tasty Empanadas when I walked in. We ordered a mushroom, beef and carnitas empanada along with two guava desserts. I did think that the guava desserts were going to be empanadas so that was a little disappointing. I loved the vinegar hot sauce, it was perfect with the empanadas. Everything was so flavorful and balanced perfectly. Overall, I would come back to the Common Kitchen solely for this wonderful establishment. Definitely recommend giving Tasty Empanadas a taste.

Tasty Empanadas definitely lives up to it's name! Located inside Clarksville Commons, there are several flavors to choose from, as well as a few other sides/desserts. + Sweet Beef was the tastiest of the three + Black bean was also quite good + Other veg. options like mushroom, spinach, and cheese + Tasty salsa - $14 for 3... a little pricy - if they run out of a flavor, it might take awhile to restock

Everything was amazing! We were stopping into Sapwood Cellars for a beer and got distracted when we saw the glowing empanadas sign. Naturally we ordered the trio and got beef, cheese, and ham and cheese special. The order came out quick and freshly fried. They were so amazing we ordered another trio of bean, cheese, and chicken and they were the perfect thing to warm us up after a walk in the snow. Customer service was amazing and efficient and I can't wait to come back for some more!

I found an ad for this merchant inside the the Fall 2020 Local Flavor Dining Guide. Tasty Empanadas received the Best New Restaurant Honorable Mention in the 2020 Howard Magazine. I love empanadas and don't get it often so had to come try it. This merchant is located towards the front entrance of The Common Kitchen located at the Clarksville Commons Shopping Center. There is currently no indoor dining, but there is outdoor patio seating and benches. My husband and I arrived a few minutes before noon, when they open, so we perused their menu board. Their empanada flavors include: mushroom, spinach, cheese, black beans, chicken, beef, and ham & cheese. They also had three seasonal flavors: guava & cheese, sweet potato, and apple & caramel. We ordered four empanadas - 2 beef, 1 chicken, and 1 ham & cheese. Prices as of 10/10/2020 are: $5 each, $14 for 3, or $49.95 for a dozen. Our total came out to $19, but we had a coupon for $2 off $10 from the Local Flavor Dining Guide. There was also a coupon for $5 off a $30 purchase. We brought plates and utensils from home so we could eat outside. Of the beef, chicken, and ham & cheese, I liked the chicken and ham & cheese the most. The shells were flaky and the fillings were plentiful. The empanadas came with homemade salsa on the side. We met the owner and I told her I saw the ad in the dining guide and was excited to come try her food. She was very appreciative and friendly. She thanked us for our patronage. I will come back to support this local business.

Background: I first met Lourdes, the owner of Tasty Empanadas, about a year ago - in the kitchen at my church (Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Laurel, see review). She was busily making huge batches of empanadas as I started doing dishes. We began chatting ... Over the ensuing year, I'd encounter her every so often in our kitchen. We talked a lot about her dream of one day owning a restaurant, instead of going to various venues like farmers' markets, to sell her amazing empanadas. To have her own kitchen to work in, instead of renting ours when she needed large facilities. I was so delighted to see in our church bulletin that she has opened her own place at last! So I made the drive up from Ft. Meade to check it out. It's a small, corner space in the larger "Common Kitchen" venue, which features independent restaurateurs with different edibles. I arrived shortly after noon on a Saturday, and her display case had a lot of empty spaces - which is a good thing! I still found two of my favorites, and ordered one beef, one spinach to go. Rounded it out with a square of luscious looking pastafrola (guava pie). I had a nice chat with Lourdes' daughter, who likes to help on the weekends. She is so proud of her mother for achieving a lifelong dream! Then Lourdes came out of the kitchen to greet me, and was just beaming at her new business. As to the food: I would have driven this distance to congratulate her, no matter what the food - but I can honestly attest that her empanadas are among the very best I've ever eaten anywhere (only one better, a guy from Ecuador who sold LOBSTER empanadas on O'ahu! - how do you top that? lol) The pastry is light and flaky, the filling substantial and spiced just right. I skip the salsas usually, because I enjoy the flavors on their own so much - but those are excellent, too. I hope you'll stop in when you're in the area - support a small businesswoman just getting off the ground. You won't be disappointed!

Slightly pricey, but good empanadas! Don't have any recent photos of the empanadas, but they've always been fresh. The guava cheese seasonal ones are perhaps my favorite. The spinach and cheese is always a great goto. They also make a pastafrola (Guava pie) for $3.75 that's really good as well. Nice buttery crust and plentiful guava topping.

We ordered the black beans & Rice side dish, along with the following empanadas: Shrimp, Beef, Pork, Crab, Apple The empanadas are huge. Our favorite was the shrimp empanada. It was so delicious. The beef and pork empanadas were top tier as well. The crab was the big disappointment that keeps me from giving Empanada Lady 5 stars. Not nearly enough crab flavor. I expect every crab dish to be good in Baltimore. The black beans & rice was an excellent choice of side dish. The apple empanada was a nice dessert to end the meal with. Although with the empanadas being so big I probably wouldn't do dessert again. I will go back again and order the shrimp, beef, and pork empanadas. Maybe I'll go during the week and keep my fingers crossed that the music isn't so loud. It was good R&B music though. Amtrak to Baltimore: https://youtu.be/54yPGPqkc5U

La Poteria was the perfect midpoint to grab our morning caffeine fix and a bite to eat before we hit the Harpers Ferry hiking trails. The cafe was beautifully decorated with marble tables, a ton of plants, and plenty of couches and cozy armchairs. There was a ton of natural light from the giant windows, but they also had a number of aesthetic hanging lights, some of which were exposed bulbs and others of which were in little wicker baskets. As far as the food and drink goes, I loved their latte. The coffee was rich and not overly acidic, and it was strong enough that you could still appreciate the chocolatey, nutty undertones under the generous helping of steamed milk and foam. I also loved the little heart sprinkle they added in the center of the mug -- such a cute final touch! My friend and I also split two of their savory items, the cheese arepa and spinach and feta empanada. The empanada was a little different than what I was used to, as it was super flaky and buttery, with an almost croissant or puff pastry-like dough. It was delicious and the savory feta went wonderfully with the spinach and the slightly peppery mayo-based sauce they served it with. The arepa was also lovely, with a generous helping of gooey melted cheese on top of the slightly chewy, slightly sweet corn-based flatbread.
