You can read it promptly and assist it when we were trying to order. The people at the counter were awesome. They told us some of their favorites and explain the dishes to us. We got oxtail pho and shaky beef tacos. The pho wasn't my favorite but it was still pretty tasty. The shaky beef tacos however, were phenomenal and something I would definitely get again. I like that they were playing Spanish music as it fits nicely with the Asian-Latin fusion menu that looks mouthwatering. Now onto the food! Oxtail pho: Piping hot , this was A LOT of food !! Tbh for the price I'm glad it's a lot lol. The pho itself was pretty good. Noodles were nice and soft but the broth was more aromatic than savory. Spring rolls (pork and shrimp): idk why they call them spring rolls when most spots call these summer rolls! Anyway , this was also a lot of food ; 3 huge rolls wrapped in plastic wrap . Friendly service and a drive-thru! I have been following Phowheels for the past few years, first trying them in their food truck in Friendship Heights. I was excited to see they opened a Brick + Mortar store in Burtonsville. The signage is great, very creative with nods to the local area. When I walked inside, I was greeted right away and had friendly service at the cash register. I ordered the honey garlic wings, and the pork belly on bahn mi. The wings were very crispy and came with a coconut ranch which was delicious. I would've liked a little bit more flavor/spice for my wings, but they were good. The pork belly bahn mi was good, fresh roll, and they accommodated me by putting the garlic aïoli on the side. They have tables and chairs outside by the drive-thru, which was nice to sit outside. Plenty of free parking in the Burtonsville Crossing parking lot. My one piece of feedback is that the bathrooms could use a deep clean. The floors were very dirty. read more

She took the time to answer all of our questions about the menu and made recommendations. I ordered the fried veggie eggrolls and the oxtail cheesesteak. I loved the egg roll (crispy and standard flavor), but was not a huge fan of the cheesesteak. The cheese was mild and super creamy, which I am not a big fan of on sandwiches. That was totally my mistake while ordering; I should have considered the type of cheese used. I think I would have enjoyed the banh mirria way more, and intend to try it next time. Outside of the cheese, the cheesesteak was a good portion size and they didn't skimp on the meat. The broth was tasty and savory (but not overly salty). The chicken roti tacos were mind blowing, totally new experience having a soy marinated chicken thigh with a Thai panang curry sauce in a multi layer buttery roti. I really wanted to try the pho but being short on time, I had to get a rice bowl because I think pho needs to be eaten at a table when it's right out of the kitchen. I ordered the chicken thigh rice bowl and it was prepared quite quickly. It came in a square container which was very hard to eat because the flaps kept getting in my way. My first bite was very hard rice. I thought to myself, surely this is not what this dish is supposed to be! Maybe I just got a bit of dried rice because the rest of the bowl was fine with soft rice as it should be. I thought the chicken was dry and flavorless. I used to rave about the fusion and classic banh mi from Phowheels but I am unsure what happened or why they must have changed the bread they use? The banh mi tastes totally different from the previous times I've eaten here... the bread does not hold well and becomes soggy and it is not as crispy, light, and airy as before. I was so ready to share the hype with friends and family and ordered 10 banh mi to go. When I opened the boxes, I already noticed the banh mi was much smaller and imagine my further disappointment when I bit into one that was beyond soggy. The broth will form a gelatinous texture if refrigerated, which is a hallmark sign of actual bones and collagen being in the broth. I really like the atmosphere and the customer service is top-notch. The guy who was at the register was very nice and very welcoming made it made everything feel a lot more special. He was also checking in on us semi-often just to make sure our food was good.
