Friendly service and a drive-thru! I have been following Phowheels for the past few years, first trying them in their food truck in Friendship Heights. I was excited to see they opened a Brick + Mortar store in Burtonsville. The signage is great, very creative with nods to the local area. When I walked inside, I was greeted right away and had friendly service at the cash register. I ordered the honey garlic wings, and the pork belly on bahn mi. The wings were very crispy and came with a coconut ranch which was delicious. I would've liked a little bit more flavor/spice for my wings, but they were good. The pork belly bahn mi was good, fresh roll, and they accommodated me by putting the garlic aïoli on the side. They have tables and chairs outside by the drive-thru, which was nice to sit outside. Plenty of free parking in the Burtonsville Crossing parking lot. My one piece of feedback is that the bathrooms could use a deep clean. The floors were very dirty.

I'm so glad we found this place! They serve unique Vietnamese street food with a creative twist. We ordered the pho cheesesteak bánh mì and the chicken bánh mì, and both were packed with flavor. The cheesesteak had that signature pho-spiced taste and an amazing cheese pull. They also offer rice bowls and pho noodle soups. Ordering is simple -- you place your order at the counter and pick it up when it's ready. The service was fast and friendly, and the whole experience was great. We'll definitely be back!

I had a great experience with the Phowheels team! We went through the drive through and the staff member we spoke to was super extroverted and welcoming. She took the time to answer all of our questions about the menu and made recommendations. I ordered the fried veggie eggrolls and the oxtail cheesesteak. I loved the egg roll (crispy and standard flavor), but was not a huge fan of the cheesesteak. The cheese was mild and super creamy, which I am not a big fan of on sandwiches. That was totally my mistake while ordering; I should have considered the type of cheese used. I think I would have enjoyed the banh mirria way more, and intend to try it next time. Outside of the cheese, the cheesesteak was a good portion size and they didn't skimp on the meat. The broth was tasty and savory (but not overly salty). Although the cheesesteak may not have been my preference, my family loved it. I definitely need to try a few more items on their menu to solidify my opinion, but overall the restaurant is a great vibe and a unique addition to the area.

I remember when Phowheels started as a food truck and I would make sure I stalked their social media to find out where they would be for the day. I'm so proud of the owners and happy they have yet another brick and mortar location! Their phô is definitely in my top 5. I usually order the oxtail phô or the brisket. The broth is light and aromatic -- very comforting. The rice noodles are cooked perfectly. Let's talk about the oxtail, shall we? So tender and flavorful! I like to order take-out so I can get down the way I want lol. The inside is relatively small, and on a cold night, you may not find a seat! Definitely check them out! Cheers!

Besides being the first Vietnamese food drive-thru in MD, Phowheels has one of the most unique menus I've seen - and so many oxtail dishes! This is Vietnamese street food and they've made some bold twist to classic dishes - I especially like their "bo-khirria" items, which is a twist on Birria beef, which is dipped into their savory Vietnamese beef stew (bo kho broth). Their fusion tacos were also tasty and the Shaky Beef Rice Bowl was marinated well. At first it seems a little pricey for a fast-casual type place, but the portions are good and the freshness of the ingredients are worth it! And you can't beat the super friendly service there with the cute cartoon drawings all around!

Customer service is excellent. From the moment we pulled up (yes, they have a drive-thru, which is super convenient), the staff was friendly, patient, and genuinely welcoming. Inside, they were attentive, checked in regularly, and made sure everything was taken care of. Service is definitely a standout. The pho itself was flavorful with a rich, aromatic broth. It's on the expensive side compared to other pho places, so it feels more like a treat yourself kind of spot rather than an everyday go to. The banh mi was really good! Fresh bread with a nice crunch on the outside and soft inside, and the fillings were well-balanced and tasty. I'd absolutely order that again. The wings were a bit of a letdown. While the flavor was actually really good, they were very oily and had a lot more breading than meat. The wings themselves were pretty small, so it felt like you were mostly eating crispy coating. I didn't love that the food dined in was served in paper bowls with plastic cutlery. I did love that they included icons on the menu next to items that contain certain allergens. I feel seeeen. Overall: great service, solid pho and banh mi, convenient drive-thru, but pricey. I'd come back, especially for the banh mi and the friendly service.

This place was popping on a Saturday night! Lots of seating though. The anime art on the walls was a nice touch. I think one of the managers was cashiering because he was so personable and friendly. All the workers seemed to care about this establishment. Wings 7/10: Crispy and delicious. Didn't feel too oily in the moment. Banh mi dac biet 11/10: easily the best of the 3. So flavorful with the pate and so refreshing with the carrots/cucumbers. I don't even like cucumbers but this meal made me appreciate them more. Oxtail cheesesteak banh mi 7/10: on the heavier side. apparently even better reheated a day later. Overall, I wish the banh mi was more toasted to give a better crunch.

This place is a really cool and unique fusion concept. Taking the best aspects of Latino cuisine and mixing it with Vietnamese and South Asian. The chicken roti tacos were mind blowing, totally new experience having a soy marinated chicken thigh with a Thai panang curry sauce in a multi layer buttery roti. Their regular cheesesteak is one of my favorite cheesesteaks ever, the meat is tender and they use a stringy laughing cow cheese that's much better imo than the current meta, the coopers sharp white cheddar. Their birria consume is also executes really cool fusion by having Vietnamese pho spices.

The lemon pepper wings had a really good flavor. The honey garlic not so much. I didn't like how the skin just crumbled. It's like they put too much batter or something. My cousin got the oxtail cheese steak and said it was decent. The staff are super friendly and serve with a smile on their face. The place looks clean. Fun atmosphere to hang out. With a nice shopping center.

I've been trying to get here for a while, and I'm so glad I finally made it! I ordered the brisket pho, and as soon as I took a sip of the broth, I was hooked! I ended up ordering the pho again two days later. It was so flavorful. When i went in person to order, the guy at the register was so nice and patient with me. I loved the addition of the fresh thai basil and bean sprouts. If you like spicy, definitely get the chili oil. It's an amazing addition. I can't wait to try other things on the menu.

I really wanted to try the pho but being short on time, I had to get a rice bowl because I think pho needs to be eaten at a table when it's right out of the kitchen. I ordered the chicken thigh rice bowl and it was prepared quite quickly. It came in a square container which was very hard to eat because the flaps kept getting in my way. My first bite was very hard rice. I thought to myself, surely this is not what this dish is supposed to be! Maybe I just got a bit of dried rice because the rest of the bowl was fine with soft rice as it should be. I thought the chicken was dry and flavorless. My favorite ingredient was just the pickled veggies. I really wanted to like this place and I'm willing to give it another try later.

First I would like to take a moment to appreciate being acknowledged and welcomed as soon as I entered the establishment. This means so much to me as a customer that the restaurant appreciates your presence, business and support. Secondly as soon as you walk in you take in the amazing aroma. This visit was my first time here so I needed a minute to look over the impressive menu. So many choices to choose from. I recommend the chicken and shrimp eggrolls, the fried chicken wings and the oxtail pho. The meat was so tender, just falling off the bone. The pho was so flavorful with fresh ingredients such as basil, cilantro and scallions. Just amazing! Make sure to wash it all down with Vietnamese coffee, Thai tea or fresh coconut juices. I can't wait to come back to try more items off the menu. See you soon!

I'll was surprised for the place; I wasn't expecting too much from this, but the classic menu items are decent and I love the experimental menu items. The best item I had were definitely the oxtail eggrolls. Oxtail eggrolls were definitely a new thing. I never had something like it and they even gave full broth to dip it with which actually went very well with the cheesy beefy interior. No veggies, noodles, cabbage, or any other typical egg roll ingredients so it was definitely on the savory side. 100% for meat lovers. The exterior was wonderfully crispy and the broth was seasoned well enough to give an aromatic, deep hearty flavor to these oxtail egg rolls. The pho is pretty good. I'll say it's a little bit better than average but nothing crazy. More depth in flavor and more umami. I've had places were pretty similar, so this was just typical. But this place is legit. The broth will form a gelatinous texture if refrigerated, which is a hallmark sign of actual bones and collagen being in the broth. I really like the atmosphere and the customer service is top-notch. The guy who was at the register was very nice and very welcoming made it made everything feel a lot more special. He was also checking in on us semi-often just to make sure our food was good. The atmosphere is very bright and modern. I feel like it's a good spot to hang out with friends and get some cool food if you like pho. I'm sure you'll find this place pretty decent.

I personally don't like it when restaurants will serve their own take on chicken & waffles and it ends up missing the essence of the dish. That essence of what I look for in the dish is the foundation of the food at T&J Waffles. The chicken is crispy and juicy with great sauce options to go with the meal. The waffles are light, airy, and sweet (but not overly sweet). I tend to frequent T&J Waffles whenever they come as the food truck, so YMMV if you eat at the brick & mortar location. That being said, I don't feel like there's an inherent loss of quality by eating at the food truck. My recommendation is to eat the food as soon as possible. Chicken and waffles to me has a very short shelf-life where the crispiness fades away shortly after. I think the best way to enjoy is to dig pretty much right away. Definitely check out the spot if you enjoy chicken and waffles! Side note: they have other options too that look delicious, but I can't not order the chicken & waffles when I go.

I opened up my Yelp app to see if I had bookmarked anything nearby and T&J's Waffles was the first spot that popped up. I didn't know it was walk up location. I was all prepared to sit at a table and have breakfast, but I was already there and I wasn't leaving without food. My dad and I both ordered the classic breakfast platter. It came with two waffles, probably three eggs (we added cheese so that was extra), 4 slices of bacon, and 2 sausage links, and hash brown. The waffles were such a cute shape and they were delicious. I can't confirm this, but I imagine it's their own special batter. They were very generous with the scrambled eggs and I didn't even have to add salt & pepper. I like that there were two meat options. I just wish my bacon wasn't all stuck together to form one piece. Also, the bacon could've been cooked a little more. It was a little fatty and I like a little more crisp. The star of the show was the hash brown. It definitely seemed like it was homemade. This may have been my first time having a homemade hash brown. I'm not sure what they did to it, but here's my guess. It looks shredded potatoes, mixed with green onion, and maybe some cheese, that was packed like a patty & shallow fried. My goodness, I should've ordered some hashbrowns to go so I could eat them for the rest of the week. The platter was so good, I didn't even mind having to eat it in my car. Lol. It was filling & $16 well spent.

This bright and colorful food truck caught my view as I entered the Sunoco gas station in Hickory Ridge Village Center off Freetown Road in Columbia. They serve freshly prepared Guatemalan-style food with very generous portions. I ordered the tacos choosing 2 flavors each of chicken and steak, burrito filled with tender steak pieces and then a Carne Asada burrito. I really loved the torta, it came with refried beans, lettuce, a special sauce, steak (you can choose the meat), all on a super soft bread. The tacos come loaded up with meat, the steak wasn't the best I've had but the chorizo was phenomenal! The drink options are limited, but if you've never tried coconut water that would be my recommendation. There were some tables right next to the food truck available to use.
