a hot dog with mustard and ketchup

In town for work. Had to try a red snapper. Very mild hot dog flavor. The toasted New England bun was nice. No real toppings available so I went with just mustard. Overall very average and not exactly cheap. All credit cards accepted.

Tasty Food (formerly Tasty Freeze) menu! Huge selection and great prices.

Coming to Van Buren I was confused (and a little concerned) that there was ONE recommended food place in town- Tasty Food. Not only is it pretty much the only fast food spot around- it's a damn good one!! Let's get right to it: the menu is like 40+ options deep and you can get anything from a salad to a burger to fried clams to THE BEST POUTINE I've ever had!!! Not to mention dessert...this place is like Dairy Queen on Canadian crack. For real. Even though the line was usually a couple people deep when we'd get there (especially at like 11am, that seemed the be the busiest time we had gone), the food always comes out fast and hot. We had 3 people ordering and we never waited more that 7 minutes for our food, even with a line of people ahead of us. The staff are genuinely kind, small-town people. They remembered the person I was there with who hadn't been back "home" in almost 10 years! I noticed that a few of the staff members even spoke French to some of the customers- a valuable trait to have being right on the border. Tasty Food is not an indoor establishment- there are 2 walk-up windows in the front of the building and one drive through window on the side. There are a few picnic tables to sit at out front/on the side of the building. There is even a large chess game, a small playhouse, and other little toys near the side tables. There was a screened in side patio with some seating as well, but it looked like it would only shield from rain and not from worse weather (I could be wrong, though!) Overall, despite Tasty Food being the only food option in the area, it's a great option. Not always the healthiest, but it tastes amazing and the service is even better!

    Reese's Pieces swirl and fries.

5:00 PM on a Saturday. You order outside. They give you a buzzer to notify you when your order is ready at the pick up window. I ordered a small fry and a Reese's Pieces swirl (similar to DQ flurry). It only took a couple of minutes for the buzzer to go off. I ate outside near my bike, but they have a variety of outdoor tables, an indoor section, and a drive through. The ice cream was good, but the candy had been crushed into little bits. I prefer Reese's Pieces whole, but I assume any swirl candy gets the same crushing treatment. The fries. Oh the fries. Definitely in the top 3 fries in the county. A good balance of crispy outside and potato inside. You get them with a packet of salt on the side. I left mine unsalted and wished I had ordered a medium. The place hasn't changed since I've been going there (mid 90s), other than the occasional menu adjustment. It's above average fried food and good ice cream.

So far I've had three lobster rolls from various places and this place, although unassuming, has the best lobster roll.

By the time we were served our food, many people had come and gone, and the lunch rush had long since been over. Waitstaff are very knowledgeable about the menu it's a cozy place vibe. We had pretzel bits they were good but the big pretzel is better. Cheese curds are good. We had the garlic cheese bread very good but we loved the garlic cheese bread sticks even more. I had a chef salad it was good lettuce not wilted dressing was tasty. My son likes the broccoli Alfredo it even reheated nicely. The Ruben was good but I asked for extra sauerkraut they wish I could've gotten more. The bread was good toasted and had good flavor. We took home the berry spare dessert it was very good. The water wasn't bad. Typical soda selections. We been a couple of times and probably will go back. Maybe next time in a Wednesday for trivia night.

Dolly's is a great place to eat! I've been here a few times, the only things I wouldn't order again…read moreare the hamburgers, they're tiny, and the fried chicken, it was just okay. My favorite things to order are the: Broccoli cheese soup bites - omg they are so good Fish n' chips - crispier and more succulent than Governor's Chicken stew - an Acadian favorite that is something like chicken n' dumplings with added French panache Ployes and Creton - Essentially pork rilletes over buckwheat pancakes, if you like a lot of flavor then this is for you If you order anything and they ask if you want Ployes go ahead and get them, whether you like 'em or not, you won't be disappointed that you tried them and many find them uniquely delicious. The service here is always super attentive. The waitstaff is knowledgeable about the menu, friendly, and quick. You might have to wait a few minutes to check out behind other parties but I imagine you kind of expect that at a sit down restaurant anywhere. The vibe inside is right at home in the St. John Valley of Maine, no fuss, home cooked meals. The restaurant is in a converted house, you'll see pictures online of rows of Side by side's and trucks parked out front, this is about as Maine, and as Acadia as it gets for restaurants up here.

What I saw was a team that seamlessly worked together to make their customers feel seen and appreciated. It was like I watched an interpretive dance. If the bartender needed (for whatever reason) to step away from the bar, another employee filled her place. I even saw one employee asking the current bartender to teach her how to make a certain drink. I had the cheese curds, and they were so good that I asked for a to-go so I could share it with my family. Someone from the kitchen brought out my order. I said, "Please tell the chef that these are so good that they could be addictive." He smiled and said, "Thank you. I'm the chef." What I learned is that if I have a few sips of beer left in my glass, that's the time to let my server that I want another and perhaps the check (if that's the case).

They were very good at dipping sauce tasted great. I ordered a salad, which was OK and pork filled a bao buns which were very tasty and barbecue juice sauce is not too spicy not too sugary. The whole sauce was very good on the bottom. Just wish it was a bit more. Make sure you have that napkins cause it does leak juice. My Son had the fish and chips. The fish was really well done they say crunchy a good portion of fish. Fries were good too.
