Never in my life have I been to the same restaurant in the same day for lunch and dinner, nor have I been the first and last customer of the day. Easily this has become a one of a kind restaurant I need to visit often in El Paso, and one I would highly recommend everyone check out. I decided to check this out on my birthday, and the main reason was because it was new and Yelp described it as Persian/Iranian food. Since I am Arab this definitely intrigued me. It is also a small business which I am strongly supportive of.
The interior really does not stand out to you but my brother fell in love with all of the Persian pictures they had on the walls. Although this place easily ranks 5 stars because of the owners and the food is just downright to die for.
We were instantly greeted by the owner upon sitting down. Her name is a bit complicated so I do not want to attempt to butcher spelling it. She asked us if this was our first time and after finding out it was she explained what the food was like and its history. She also provided us with a sampler that had a portion of their appetizers on the menu served with bread and torshi. What also impressed me is that it came with fresh basil from the owners garden. I absolutely love that little touch when someone is putting in food they grow themselves into their dishes. The appetizers were delicious and I would recommend if you want to try out the range of appetizers they have available.
My family and I decided to try the Tour of Persia so we can get a good taste of a lot they had to offer. The Tour of Persia serves 3-4 people is only $40 and at that price I think it is definitely worth trying. It comes with Chicken Kabob (Bone-In), Soltani, Beef Koobideh, Ghorme Sabzi, and Dill & fava bean rice or Basmati rice.
Everything was absolutely incredible but what really surprised me is I am not a fan of chicken yet the way they make their chicken here, it is an absolute delicacy. The rice was also very different to what I'm used to but it was so flavorful with a variety of spices that I just could not get enough. Beef Koobideh, Ghorme Sabzi, and the Soltani were equally amazing. Like I could not find anything I did not like. The meal was super filling. The owner also graciously provided us with a small dish of their Doner Kebap which is a Turkish-German beef from the rotisserie with their signature Tasty Kabob sauce which the owner makes herself. Let me tell you it's like yogurt but a yogurt you would die for and honestly I think it can go with anything. I am interested in taking some home and trying it with my steaks.
The Doner Kebap instantly became my favorite thing on the menu. This beef is so tender and delicious, it will make your mouth water thinking about it after you have tried it. This is my must try recommendation if you come here. It was a must try that when my family and I came back for dinner; my brother and I ordered the Doner Kebap Sandwich, and my mother ordered the Doner Kebap Salad. The Doner Kebap sandwich comes with your choice of Turkish-German chicken or beef (I have not tried the chicken, my recommendation is beef) on telera roll with veggies and the Tasty Kabob sauce. It is essentially the perfect sandwich I tell you, and you will be stuffed. I want to go back at this very moment, but I need to finish this review. My mother's order was the Doner Kebap Salad which is a tossed house salad with Doner kebab, feta cheese, cabbage, tomato, and cucumber. It looks amazing and tastes amazing. If you do not want that telera roll bread, the salad is definitely the way to go.
We decided to order the cheesecake for dessert and we also wanted to try the baklava. The owners explained to us that they did not have it at the moment because the baklavas they ordered were not up to their expectations. I am absolutely impressed by this, there have been many times places I go to just put out whatever comes out of their shipment even if it does not taste good. For this owners to take the time to examine the baklava and make sure it fits the Tasty Kabob image, I praise them for ensuring customers love their food. We also ordered hot tea on the side and the owners shared with us a tidbit that they put the cube of sugar in their mouths while drinking the tea. We tried it and it definitely is a different experience. Not one that I will do all the time, but it will not be the last time.
Twice in one day we came here and both times we left with rave reviews and really happy stomachs. Please take the time to support the Tasty Kabob. The owners can provide an amazing conversation, and the food is to die for. Definitely an experience you must try. We found this place by accident just because I wanted to try something new for my birthday, and honestly they made my birthday with all the laughs, providing a great time for my family, and making my stomach really happy. read more
