Tom Yum (Hot & Sour Soup) (GF)

"Tasty Thai, It's Worth the Try" After a relaxing massage, we were looking for a late-night spot and ended up at Tasty Thai Restaurant in Tempe--such a good choice. The place is small, but the flavors are big. The Pad Thai was flavorful and honestly brought back memories of the authentic Pad Thai I had in Thailand years ago. The Tom Yum soup was hot, tangy, and comforting. We also ordered the orange-glazed chicken wings, chicken satay, and of course, pineapple fried rice with cashews--because rice is life. Portions are generous, and we definitely had a to-go box. Service took a little while, but the staff was accommodating, and tea was served while we waited. Overall, Tasty Thai is a great late-night spot with bold flavors and big servings. Simple place, delicious food, and worth the stop.

Crab & Shrimp Fried Rice (No Spice) The crab wasn't imitation, but it also didn't look or taste like real crab. The shrimp were so tough I tried to eat one and had to spit it out. For $30...Never again. The rice was hard and completely flavorless. 4 PCS Crab Wontons Very oily and absolutely flavorless.

Q: Why did the curry break up with the rice? A: Because it found someone spicier! Late-night Thai food? Yeeees! Open until 12:30AM every day, this Tempe Thai spot is a gem. Located close by the ASU campus, I can see why it's a hit amongst Sun Devils. Pad Thai is my noodly obsession. After a fun-filled evening full of art and ice cream, we popped in purely by accident. We were actually about to go to the nearby sports bar but we had seen the glowing neon of Thai food being advertised. After a quick coin flip, being disappointed in our result, the four of us made the short walk over. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside was warmth, Christmas trees, and friendly faces.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Two of us ordered pad thai and the other two ordered massaman curry. At medium spice, we all found it to be light-handed on spice. Even the hot wasn't that spicy. I'm not sure I'm brave enough to try their Thai Hot so a note to myself, get the spice level at hot. You can't find love in a bowl of curry unless it's a little bit spicy! I used to be a fan, but after eating some delicious food on a chilly late night, I'm a whole air conditioner. The food is good, the portions are great, and the prices are reasonable. Two thumbs up!

Doesn't taste like any hot and sour soup I've ever had. So sour, worst soup I've ever tasted! There were tomato's in it!? Some inedible additions such as a chunk of ginger and possibly an uncooked artichoke? Some of the chicken just tasted of siracha when you weren't getting the sour flavor. Ordered medium and there was no spice besides siracha chicken. Paid Thai was good and a big portion, no complaints. They apparently updated their menu and pricing, appetizers for $11 is pretty crazy. The menus currently on yelp were much more reasonable. Not sure if we will be returning.

I'm actually shocked at the rating but maybe I just have different standards from visiting from the west coast. Ordered a no ice Thai tea which is somehow super bland and watery. Never had a fresh Thai tea that wasn't creamy. The pad see yew doesn't really taste like anything at all and I laughed out loud when I opened their mango sticky rice. Absolutely not.

We search for local restaurants when traveling and discovered Tasty Thai. The service was very fast, and the server explained the menu well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere of the restaurant is peaceful and clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is amazing!!! We got Pad See Ew with chicken, Thai chicken fried rice (husband started eating that before I could get a good photo), Thai wings with sweet habanero sauce, and mango sticky rice! Portions were good sizes! If we are in the area again, we will certainly stop by and eat here!!!

Fresh Thai food and open until after midnight! This is like a dream come true for night owls like me. I never knew about this restaurants existence until today and I live around here since 2019! I loved my spicy cashew with tofu which was extra Thai hot and just how I wanted it. The service is great but beware of the spice levels. If you can't handle spice it's better to stick to mild as they don't change the dish or offer to make you a fresh one. Rest it's all good but the service needs some improvement. I tried my husbands chicken khao soi or Thai noodles curry and it was great too I'll probably order that next! The fried tofu appetizer was dripping oil and the pineapple fried rice ordered by a friend was decent too.

Husband and I are in town for a remote family reunion and we decided to arrive a day early to settle in. We have to pick everyone up from the airport tomorrow so we picked a nearby hotel. We tried this new thai restaurant as delivery through Uber Eats. We ordered pad thai (as always) with tender beef. We asked for thai spicy, left a note for thai spicy, and they really delivered! This stuff is hot!! Good mix of meat and noodles, peanuts were on the side. We also got the calamari "rings", which came as calamari sticks but OMG they were delicious! Super crispy exterior, not super chewy, great flavor with the vinegar-y sauce. Super impressed by this calamari and we have really enjoyed calamari from several thai restaurants in the area.

Some co-workers and I frequent Tasty Thai and it's the best I've had around here. I've had good but for the money it's first rate.

I expected the restaurant to be busy during lunch time, but I certainly did not expect how small it is. It felt crammed inside, but no big deal. Parking was also tricky. It's pretty limited, so I had to park a bit further away. In terms of food and service, Thai Basil did a great job. Our server was very patient while we figured out what to order. I went for the Chicken Pad Thai and stuck with water as my drink. I was pleasantly surprised when the food started coming out because I expected it to take longer. I'd say it took about 15 minutes, even during lunch rush. My Chicken Pad Thai was delicious. The serving size was good and it came with a spring roll on the side. The price isn't bad at all either. It was basically $16 after tax for my lunch. I'd definitely come here again on my own.

Parking was easy, but unfortunately the service was the worst part of the visit. I sat down to look at the menu and place a to-go order, only to be told to move to another seat. A simple order of pad thai and spring rolls took exactly 42 minutes. After several follow-ups, no one told me the food was ready until I walked up to the counter myself. Overall, a frustrating experience, and I would not recommend it with other Thai restaurant options nearby.

SENTRY - WATCHING RESTAURANTS…read more Smile Thai Cuisine 2107 S. Rural Road Tempe, 85282 I last visited this restaurant more than 10 years ago, so it was time for a new review. Upon entering I immediately noticed that the inside has totally changed. The entrance seems to be filled with a bar and a cash register and the tables have moved to the side. We started off with an appetizer of chicken satay. Long thin strips of chicken threaded onto skewers and served with a peanut sauce. It was a tasty dish though a bit difficult to get off the wooden skewers. For companions main course, ordered was pork cashew nuts. The dish had a melange of vegetables in a chile/garlic sauce. Companion enjoyed it be was unable to finish the dish because the portion was large. I ordered duck curry. I asked for it to be spicy, but unfortunately it was anything but that. The sauce was thin and without body and had an assortment of veggies in it along with some duck. At the bottom of the bowl I found a leg of duck. The dish was served with white rice which I promptly added to the sauce in an attempt to soak up some of it, but alas, it was to no avail. For drinks, we both ordered Thai Tea, which was properly made. It is served in tall jars, and neither of us could drink it all. If you have real Thai food that is Thai hot, Thai Tea will get rid of the heat on your palate in less than a minute. Cleanliness is a bit of a question, as our table had some old food encrusted on the edge. 3 Stars

I got the panang curry with tofu, pad woonsen with chicken, pad eggplant, and satay chicken. All were between 2-3 spice levels. Parking could be confusing.
