This bakery used to be phenomenal. I have certain favorites there that I have been getting for years when I come out to Montauk. However, as of somewhat recently, this establishment is under the management and the baked goods are not nearly as good. You can absolutely taste the difference, particularly with the jelly and custard croissants... they now have a much more deep-fried flavor than they previously did. I used to drop a lot of money at this bakery when I would come out here and always bring a ton of stuff home when I left... the bakery really isn't worth going to anymore. read more

Lots of options in this grab and go bake shoppe. I've only tried the sweet items- none of the breakfast items, but we've enjoyed the things we've got. The cinnamon swirls are good but lean on the dry side without a ton of frosting. The apple crumb cake is delicious. Boston crème donuts from here my boyfriend always loves. Chocolate chip cookies lean a little thinner crunchier- like tates. I also tried their empanadas recently- plaintain and cheese- very greasy and not a lot of flavor. Cute little bake shop in Montauk Village! Upon walking in, I was greeted by who seemed like the owner. He recommended me the jelly croissants (which were sold out) and the cream croissants. I got a cream croissant and a crumb cake. They also had a huge variety of cakes and cookies, no Ice-Cream though (I checked the freezer!) The cream croissant was good. Flakey on the outside balanced with the perfect creaminess on the inside. The cream reminds me of Bavarian cream inside donuts. Must eat the day of so it doesn't leak onto the crispy outside. As for the crumb cake - one of the best I've had. It was still good the next day when I brought it home. What caught me by surprise was the amount of bees hovering over the pastries behind the counter. Thankfully, they were not flies. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I also got one of each of the Montauk iced teas to try. Excellent! So good we returned before we left Montauk on Monday morning. Yummy breakfast wraps (# 3 & #5) plus delicious jelly stuffed croissants & latte! JC (Juan Carlos) was wonderful. I came here for lunch with my family on a Saturday. It seems to be the best bakery and really the only bakery in town. We ordered their focaccia paninis (All American, Chicken BLT, Turkey Avocado). It does take a while to prepare the sandwiches but it's worth the wait. They do give you a beeper so you can come back to pick them up. The sandwiches were giant and the bread tasted fresh. They also have doughnuts, cookies, cakes, and even Dubai chocolate bars. I would definitely recommend for the sandwiches! read more

NO to the jelly croissant. Was excited to try the local town bake shop so I asked the attendant to recommend the most popular pastries and she did. She was kind and patient. Unfortunately I tried two "stuffed croissants" -- one with cream filling and one with a jelly filling. I would certainly ONLY get the cream filling one as the other was crunchy and sugar-dusted on the outside and not good. I couldn't finish it. It was too hard, had no wow factor, and was just sweet. Maybe my palate prefers subtle pastries. The cream-filled croissant however, was very soft and the cream, subtle/not overly sweetened. Came here on my last day in Montauk with my wife because she wanted a jelly croissant. This place is well known for their jelly croissants and I had a bite, which it was very good, but I got an egg sandwich. I got 2 eggs sunny side up with bacon on a roll and it was perfection and the roll it was on was amazing. Great spot for bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and pastries. The jelly doughnuts seem to be what they are famous for and when in Montauk it has become a vacation food tradition. They do otherwise have a great selection of other sweets to choose from but those lobster and fish shaped cookies could probably give up the shelf space to something more attractive. For those that need their coffee fix this is the go-to place as well. Why the signs about cell phones not being welcome in the place I am really not sure. The service is somewhere between rude and bad, but the lines move quickly. Why five stars with this kind of service? To me, it is an odd part of the charm of going here. To some degree, like Durgin-Park was in Boston (RIP after 200 years of service), this place wouldn't be the same without the quirky service. The place is also small to the point where it is sometimes hard to navigate the people waiting to place their orders and people waiting for their orders. Breakfast in Montauck. The bake shoppe has so much to offer. It's tucked on a side street with a few other breakfast choices. I'm a sucker for bakeries so we went here. SO and I decided on breakfast sandwiches. His had sausage egg and cheese on a bagel; I had the bacon egg and cheese on a croissant. Choices are a plenty when ordering. Don't want a sandwich? We stopped here because we heard they had wickedly good jelly donuts. The bake shoppe is a small store front right in the middle of busy downtown Montauk. We stopped in and we were overwhelmed by the number of things that looked good to us and our kids. The donuts looked tasty, the cookies were attractive, and it smelled great. The man who helped us out was super friendly and polite. We got a bunch of stuff and enjoyed it all. The winner was probably the cream filled croissant, which was crunchy, sweet, soft, and really excellent. This is worth a stop if you are looking for a baked good for breakfast or a snack. read more

Stumbled upon this place while friends were getting food elsewhere. I got lucky ordering from here! Name led me to believe it was strictly bakery but they have a great selection of sandwiches. I ordered the Cecilia Rose. It was delicious! And a sizable sandwich so I had lunch for 2 days! You of course must try the baked goods! They have a jelly "donut" croissant. Amazing! Be careful biting into it though because it's overflowing with jelly, which I'm not complaining about!! The jelly is the right level of sweetness and being it's a croissant there's not too much dough, just light fluffy layers. I also had a standard jelly donut and they're good as well. Good amount of fillings, croissant is soft and moist, the texture is similar to donuts, covered in sugar. Really good. The cruffin is another specialty here. It's a muffin with crumb cake topping and cream cheese fillings. Really good, it has strong nutmeg flavor on the crumb topping. They have sugar free muffins too: blueberry, apple, banana walnut. The sunflower seed bread is really good too. Fresh, moist, and has a good crust on top. Baklava is delicious. It's fresh, it stays intact with enough sweetness. Not too much but fillings. Really needing something sweet my friend and I stopped here to fulfill our need. I got a piece of crumb cake and my friend got an almond croissant. Crumb cake is often dry and this one did not dissuade me from that opinion. But it usually has some nice chunks of sweet on top. The topping was begrudging at best...just a wee sprinkle of powdered sugar. My friend's croissant was not a croissant. It was kind of fluffy baked something that was curved. The almond filling was negligent but the lack of even one layer of pastry was appalling. The texture was like a Pillsbury Crescent Roll. I went back inside and told the girl that I was given the wrong sandwich and she decided to argue with me. I said do you not remember me asking you what kind of nut was used in the pesto and you said I don't know. So why would I ask about the pesto and then order a chicken Caesar salad wrap? Nice quick stop to grab a cop of coffee. Came here during the Montauk Clam Chowder fest the Saturday of Columbus Day weekend. It was windy and cold, but inside the bake shop, the smell of fresh pastries and coffee fills the air. Now, space is limited, standing room only at this joint. You peruse the display case as you wait your turn to order-- and be sure to keep it moving! On our visit, we got the Egg on Croissant w/ Swiss (big for a croissant, but flavor was plain), Jelly Croissant (flaky and sweet, bursting with jelly--- have those napkins handy), and coffee (they keep many pots hot and percolating. While most everything was spot on, I felt the prices were kind of high (but on par I guess for a resort town), and there was nowhere to stand/move when things got busy. Since it was a festival day, it was very crowded in the shop, but only 3 staff behind the counter and in the kitchen, making for quite the back up. Outside the shop are picnic tables & benches, and they will give you your order through the take-out window. This looks one of the more popular places in town for breakfast. It is a small shop so not many can fit in there at one time especially with Covid. I really liked the jelly croissant which is famous apparently. It is the best thing I had there. It is covered in sugar and tasted freshly made unlike some of the other stuff. Cinnamon swirl, plain crumb cake, and almond croissant all were definitely a day old. No shot they made them fresh and I could tell. Maybe next time I will ask what is made fresh that day instead of guessing. I will say the hot food was solid. The egg and cheese on croissant was good. I also tried the same sandwich on a roll and it was also good. Something that was a little offputting was that there were bees in the store and on the pastries. That seems to be normal in montauk since I saw that in some other shops. Not the biggest fan of that and it kind of bugged me out. There were some good things and not so good things.
