Checked out this new restaurant that was just down the road from me . Initial impression when you walk in is that the bright blue painted walls and outdoor chairs and tables used for the dining room. Got a sat and was given the menu. Menu was a good size not too overwhelming, most of the items were priced fair. Staff was not very helpful on recommendations and seemed to be unsure of some dishes. Food itself was pretty good ide say top 5 in the area. I ordered the gohan fish curry , tikka chicken masala as mains and started with the lollipop chicken drumsticks and kebab . Bathrooms were clean and brand new ! I was given a free fried veggie dish which was tasty but batter was a little thick making it taste mostly of batter no flavor of the vegetables. Overall 4/5 stars for the delicious food and fair prices .

Chana Masala and Dhaba Dal Tadka, rice, along with some naan.

After reading the recent write-up in PennLive, my wife and I decided to check out this new restaurant -- and judging by the steady stream of both dine-in and takeout customers, we weren't the only ones! While it took a little while for our food to arrive, it was absolutely worth the wait. The flavors were wonderful, the ingredients were super fresh, and the dishes had just the right amount of spice to let the flavors shine without overwhelming the palate. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and we had a great time chatting and catching up while waiting for our meal. As vegetarians eating out, we were thrilled with the number of options available. We started with the chili cauliflower and the banarsi chaat -- both firsts for us -- and they were absolutely delicious. For our mains, we ordered the Chana Masala and Dhaba Dal Tadka, along with some naan. Every bite was a treat. We're already looking forward to returning with friends and family after this fun date night. We wish this new establishment much success and offer a big welcome to the neighborhood!

Butter chicken, egg noodles, garlic naan.

The tandoori dishes arrive on sizzling platters and the meats are perfectly cooked. Vegetarian entrees are plentiful, great portions and delicious. Samosas made in-house with flaky, crisp outsides and creamy insides. Everyone's favorite Chicken Tikka Masala is creamy, lots of tender chicken and heavenly when eaten with perfectly prepared basmati rice. The naan... the naan is light airy cloud like and made for dipping into all the entree sauces. If this doesn't send you there in a hurry, consider the kind and efficient staff and the owner. They work so hard to make your dining experience memorable and truly care about your experience and time with them. Their lunchtime buffet is epic I hear, but my experience has been only with the dinner service. It is truly a hidden gem in plain sight.

Now that I know, I know to stop again and sample the variety of buffet offerings. A fellow customer told me the buffet dishes change every day so you have to come back multiple times to sample all of the different dishes. I will! Really clean and modern on the inside with entrances on N. 3rd St. and through Strawberry Square. Naan was tasty and crispy as were the samosas and onion rings. Really good saag paneer and chicken vindaloo (not spicy due to buffet) and an amazing Tika Masala, a (to me) boring dish, but this had a very rich and delicious flavor. All sauces i tried were amazing! I was too full to try dessert. Next time!

Tried Guras spice house yesterday for the first time and was actually very pleasantly surprised! My…read morehusband drives past here often for work so we decided to give it a try to see if it might be a good takeout place in the future. Ambiance 2/5: a little weird (game machines on the left of entryway when you come in, a "good vibes" neon sign with its lights off, doors a little run down) but the food is very delicious! And inexpensive (eg. a large serving of onion naan for ~$3)! The prices were so reasonable we ended up ordering way too much food. I would come back. It's its own building with a parking lot in front with plenty of spaces to park. Service: only one waitress who was manning both the register and serving all the tables. Service was a little slower since she was running everything but she was very friendly and working hard so we didn't mind. It seemed to be authentic as a lot of the other customers dining in were speaking Nepali! Food wise: My husband ordered the papadum (this is the dried lentil chips you sometimes see as appetizers at other restaurants--it it was served here with tamarind and I think mint chutney?). I'm not really a fan of papadum in general, but the sauces here were good. If you like it at other places you probably will like it here. I think this could probably be skipped (order something else as everything else we tried was quite good). House Muldani Soup: a delicious lentil soup. We were offered multiple spice options -- no, mild, medium, hot, or super hot. We picked mild which was a little too spicy for us bc it turns out we are still wimps to spice but still delicious. 4/5 Next we had the chicken biryani in mild spice level-- the chicken thigh meat was very tender and the rice well spiced. Large portions! It fed us both until we were stuffed and I'm eating it again today as leftovers -- still pretty good. It also came with cucumber raita (cucumbers in yogurt sauce) which was yummy as well and helped bring down the heat level and balance everything. 4/5 But the amazing standouts that really made Guras spice house a 5/5 overall was the incredible onion naan and malai kofta. They were DELICIOUS. This is the best naan I've ever had and it came in as a large flat bread cut into 4 quadrants -- with perfect texture and the onion flavor bursting forth. It tastes AMAZING when dipped into the malai kofta sauce -- which mind you was perfectly dreamy and creamy with a nice balance of tomato flavor. The homemade paneer dumplings were also so soft with a great texture, pairing perfectly with the sauce. Value: 5/5 - The total came out to be $42 or so for all this food and we were stuffed with plenty of leftovers. In summary, get the malai kofta and onion naan!! Also looking forward to trying the mango lassi in the future! (They also have rose water lassi which looked interesting as well)

At first, we were disappointed by the momos because the photos showed them as soup dumplings (similar in style to Chinese xiaolongbaos), so we were expecting them to be steamed and soupy inside, but it was actually just fried. However, it tasted really good with the sauce and spices they added! I would recommend it. The chicken tikka masala was also really rich in flavor and the curry was delicious. The interior had cool vibes and music videos playing and the service was great.
