Baba Ghanouj
Vee P.

Love love love this place! Stopped by the other day after driving by for years. Was greeted upon entrance. I told the worker that I've never been here, she offered samples and explained what they sold. Everything here is made then frozen quickly to maintain freshness. There are refrigerators with some fresh foods ready for consumption, but do note that lots of the foods taste differently when heated than when eating by cold, although it is ok to eat cold. Very authentic Armenian food. The inside looks very clean. The atmosphere is inviting. The workers are nice and informative. They take cash or card. The Baba Ghanouj (eggplant spread) has a nice Smokey flavor. The eggplant was prepped and roasted nicely to make this. The Lentil Kofta is amazing! There's no way of explaining it, just try it! ITCH Armenian Fine Bulgur was really fresh and delicious! The fire sauce (salsa? In a jar) was not very spicy, but is very Garlicky. Made using fresh garlic, and lots of it, it has a major garlic kick.

This is the best place. I'll keep coming every week thanks guys. It's really reminds me my grandmas dishes

You won't find more delicious, flavorful, or comforting food anywhere in Los Angeles! It's run by the sweetest family who always make sure you feel welcomed. And they have SO MANY vegan and vegetarian options, so there's something for everyone to enjoy. Every item I've gotten here has been amazing (but my favorite is the Iman Bayildi)-- you have to try it for yourself!

This review is for the location on Sherman Way in North Hollywood area. We stopped here after buying some breads a few doors down and we are so happy we did. We did not know what to expect, but the signs posted on the glass were enticing. The employees were so friendly and kind. They offered us many samples and explained the variety of food to us. We tasted so many delicious samples and bought several trays of food. Everything was just delicious. I cannot wait to go back and try different things each time. My friend was with me and grew up with this food. She said it was very authentic. Delicious. Just delicious. I will 100% return. Also, there are many options for vegetarians. Highly recommend!!

Lahmajoon w/ a topping of roasted eggplant, peppers, onion, tomato & herbs! Wish I could remember name/spelling of it! Amazing!

Blown away!! By not only the cleanliness, organization and food, but also the beautiful people who own/run this place. So kind, welcoming and extremely generous. Upon entering the woman at the counter asked if it was my first time, and it was, so I was greeted with an array of samples to try! I'm a foodie, love learning about different cultures and cuisine, and there was an abundance of knowledge and tastes shared in the short time I was there getting something for lunch! I ended up purchasing the Lahmajoon and was gifted another sample of an eggplant, pepper, onion, tomato and herb medley that accompanied it perfectly. I will absolutely be back veryy soon!!

Photos of my first purchase. Everything tasted great!

I highly recommend this place. They sell refigirated/frozen food that you can typically find at an Armenian/Middle Eastern store. HOWEVER, the food is made fresh by them and packed in ready to eat containers. There is definitely pride of ownership and the staff was super friendly! I recommend it!

Boy was I so glad to find Cafe du Liban! Going to be a regular from now on. I ordered for pick up so I can't speak on service quite yet but there's quite a bit of seating for a few small parties inside. The food tastes delicious and is made fresh to order. Portions are generous as well. My highest recommendation is to order the Baba Ghanoush because WOW. It's so good I could cry. When I tell you I ate this entire bowl by myself. I prefer pita sandwiches that are cut open and stuffed, rather than rolled up like a burrito the way they do here; the latter compresses everything together into a mush and can drip the contents out the back end, which is exactly what happened when I tried eating this one. This would matter less if the felafel were really good, but these were almost completely tasteless and mushy, no nice crisp exterior. In fact, they were falling apart as I was eating. The hummus was okay. Not bad, but nothing special. And the pita bread they included with it was cold, not warm and fresh. Maybe there are other items on the menu that justify the five star reviews. But the felafel and hummus certainly do not, and I'm not sure I'd want to experiment further.

Service was excellent and everyone was super nice. They even accommodated us outside since it was busy, which worked out perfectly. It's moist with a crispy outer edge and the right amount of salt to taste but not be salty. Most of the items on the menu have pretty large portion sizes, and there is a vast selection of items. Nothing shouts out at us to give the food an upstanding 5/5, but this is still a solid pick for an American diner. Note that if you order anything with strawberries (including the fruit cup), you will get exactly 1 strawberry cut into 4 pieces to ration during your meal. Service: 2.5/5 There is one person manning the floor the majority of the time, and he does a good job managing multiple tables. We came in at 9 am on a workday and there were already 25 people in the restaurant, all managed by this one waiter. There is another person who pops in every now and then to deliver food and refill coffee. That said, don't expect to be checked in on often or to quickly get your order in. Also, special requests may or may not be satisfied-- I requested that the whipped cream in my waffle order came on the side, only for it to come right in the middle of my waffle. Atmosphere: 4/5 It's a lively place! This is a popular and long lasting restaurant for a reason. The music is not loud, and there is a comfortable amount of space between each table. I would recommend this place for a family meal, a casual work outing, or a date for an established couple. Final rating: 3.33/5 (rounding down to 3 on Yelp)

It is one place that always puts me in a conundrum, because there is so much here to order. Since about 6 months, they've been opening at 9 am, with an additional spread of breakfast selections. Yes, you can get the Israeli breakfast, as well a selection of numerous salads, if you are looking for something unique. Kind of a small tasting menu, if you will. I came here for lunch, to order my favorites. You have to start with small bites and I always gravitate towards the falafel. It comes with eight fresh and perfectly deep fried balls that are optimally crisped (and crunchy) on the outside, with a soft tasty green filling on the inside. That, with the accompanying tahini sauce, takes you to another place. Always consistent. Hard to come here without making a choice from the butchers section. I go for the middle eastern kabob (this time one skewer) that arrived just after it was grilled with good char, nice coloring, succulent and exploding with fragrance and taste. Each bite allowed you to taste the moist meat and its spices. For my sides, the mashed potatoes (with onions) had wonderful texture and mouthfeel. For the second side, my choice was the house hummus, good body, silky feel and a thick wholesome and smooth blend of its ingredients. It lubricates your tongue. That, when scooped up with pieces of fresh Laffa bread, really hits the spot. Service was attentive, thoughtful and informative. Need to come back often, to try more from the menu. IMHO, this could easily be the best Israeli restaurant in the Valley and to think of it, even in the Los Angeles area.

So I ordered 3 Gyro meals. Lamb, chicken, and beef with the combo meal fries and drink. For the 3 sandwiches with each of them having a side of small fries and small drink I paid $71.29 for the entire order which is crazy in itself but the real crime was the food here, I am surprised how this place is been running business this whole time. First thing you do when you sit in a car? Take a few bites of the fries, and let me tell you that shit got stuck in my throat from how dry and nasty it was absolutely no SALT on any of the sandwiches and or fries... We all know salt makes everything more delicious and we had none of it. Me and 2 of my guests all had complaints on how unsalted and bland the food was. Also with a gyro usually you need a garlic sauce aka white sauce for my New Yorkers, they tried to charge me $5.90 for a SMALL plastic side of garlic sauce for my $20 sandwich. Save your money head over to Pita Pocket or any other gyro spots cuz this ain't it. It's really not hard to get a gyro down. Trader Joes also has a box of gyro meat you can buy make at home and I did once and it was WAYYYY better then this place lol. This place gets 0 stars for charging customers $20+ for a freaking combo meal that doesn't even include a garlic sauce.
