I came to visit here on my break and I met Tim and found out this was a family run bakery. They set up every morning and it's all super fresh. They're more than happy to give you a tour of their sweets and personalized recommendations. Everything is made from scratch and you can absolutely taste the difference. It is completely night and day. The ambiance is very cozy and I've recently come to just say hi to the crew and get some work done between work. The cheesecakes are absolutely delicious -- rich, creamy, perfectly balanced, and clearly made with care and quality ingredients. Not overly sweet, just smooth and indulgent in the best way. The staff is also very welcoming and extremely helpful. If you're a cheesecake lover, this place is definitely worth the stop. I'll absolutely be coming back to try more flavors!

Dear Hubby is addicted to this bakery's offerings. We have one of their cafes in Simi Valley, and…read morehe seems to make a run there either every week or every other week. I am grateful that their style seems to be to use less sugar than other bakeries. You can enjoy the sweetness without being overwhelmed by the sugar content. Last weekend we were spending the day with our grandchildren. Adored Grandson was in town from points north for a long weekend. DH had prepared brunch for the family, then we hung out. Later, AG was craving a coffee drink, so the oldest and youngest generation hopped in to the car and went out to get drinks and desserts. Sweet Granddaughter was having a blast, getting attention from 3 of her favorite adults, PLUS getting to pick her own sweets. What more could a six year old want? She's pretty discerning about baked goods, and even got her own tray. We had to pare back some of her selections. AG got his java jolt, and I was able to order a decaf crafted beverage that satisfied my taste buds. $48, four drinks, and multiple pastries to go later, we were headed out the door. Whew! The layout of this particular location is a little odd. Though one can eat in, it doesn't feel like that welcoming of a space. It's mostly about the cases and shelves of baked goods, as far as how the floor plan is set. The counter service people were helpful with answering questions on the options for the drink orders. We did share some of our treats with the parentals at home. The prices at this bakery are very fair. We did get quite a few items.

Pro tip for first timers: do NOT add brown sugar to your Vietnamese coffee lol... lesson learned. The pastries were definitely the highlight. So many interesting flavors and we honestly tried a bit of everything. My absolute favorite was the jalapeño cream cheese pastry kind of like a danish and it was AMAZING. Overall, my favorite drink ended up being the brown sugar coffee for sure, and I'd definitely give this spot another try. Pricing ranges around $3-$20, which is pretty decent. The lines move quickly, the space is super spacious inside, and the staff was very friendly and helpful with any questions. Great attitude all around!

I've been to South Korea, where I've had some of the best coffee of my life, so my standards are pretty high. Re Coffee absolutely hits the spot. Their coffee is strong without being bitter, creamy without overpowering the coffee flavor, and perfectly balanced. Every sip reminds me why I keep coming back. Beyond the coffee, the shop has a warm neighborhood coffee shop vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. The staff are always friendly and keep things moving despite how busy the shop gets. As for parking, there are a few spots in the back, and you can usually find street parking along Reseda as well. There are plenty of coffee shops around, but Re Coffee stands out for consistently delivering a great cup of coffee. The constant line isn't hype--it's well deserved.

They have a small and limited parking lot behind the coffee shop as well as some street parking open on Reseda and Dearborn. There's a Trader Joe's and Chili's across the street with more parking as well and I have parked behind Dave's Hot Chicken and the Habit and there is always space there. Ambiance: This coffee shop is quaint and feels a little cramped when you finally get inside and through the line. There is a counter top with some chairs as well as one couch and desk where one can study although, I personally never would. It's clean and bright with a minimalistic vibe inside. With it being cramped, you basically just get in, order, and get out. It's rare to find seating inside and it can feel overwhelming just sitting there trying to enjoy your drink with so many people around. Drinks: We've been there multiple times and you can always expect the same- mid, slightly overpriced, oh- getting some post purchase clarity. But it's the type of slightly regretful decision we continue to make every time. We've gotten the matcha einspanner on several occasions, vanilla iced latte, caramel latte, and the most disgusting Americano known to man. Whether you get the dark or light roast Americano, you will not run away from the burnt and bitter flavor. Service: The line moves quickly, they take your order and get you in and out without a long wait. They also offer stamp cards, buy 10 get the 11th free. What a steal! Gimme 10 more! Overall: All this to say, it's oddly grown to be a valley staple, and represents some bordering LA values- overpriced, overhyped, but for some reason addicting in the fact you always seem to go back. I would say 3.5 but it doesn't allow it, so I'm feeling generous today.

Some of our absolute favorites are the potato pirashki, cabbage pirashki, nacho cheese empanadas, and of course the custard and Nutella ponchiks--everything is always warm, flavorful, and perfectly made. Today my husband, who is very picky, decided to try their lahmajun for the first time. He loved it! It was crisp, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. That was another win for Papillon. Definitely worth trying a variety of their recipes--you really can't go wrong here.

I greeted the woman at the front counter just letting her know I was there but was aware I was a bit early. Without a response greeting & somewhat dismissive, "yea...it's 30 minutes". Let her know that wasn't a problem and I'll just wait around. Every customer she greeted after me was greeted, wayyyyy less attitude. The bakery started filling up with people and my order was ready. Once I get to the counter, she boxes my food dismissively then proceeds to shove it in my direction, purposely avoids eye contact while doing so & then when I smile & say 'thank you'. Response given... 'bye'. Although the food was delicious, the entire interaction was off putting & soured the experience. Sadly, I don't think I'll be returning to this location. I understand a bad day or a rude customer, but this didn't feel like that. The entire experience felt unwelcoming & unenjoyable. The bakery its self is cute, clean & would make a lovely place for a hangout... it just won't be a place I'd choose to frequent again. Hopefully someone else has better experience. I will recommend the food. Just not the service.

The dessert was just as good--soft, flavorful, and topped with the perfect crunch for contrast. You can tell Cafe 86 knows exactly what they're doing when it comes to ube. It's a great late-night dessert spot with a relaxed vibe and consistently solid quality. If you're an ube fan (or trying it for the first time), Cafe 86 is a must.

It's off Reseda and its parking lot is usually a hot spot among people. There is a good amount of parking but depending on the time, it fills up quickly and can feel tight trying to maneuver your way through and find a spot. Ambiance: Cafe 86 is a, they specialize in coffee and matcha and truly have an expansive menu featuring lots of delicious ube variations. There is a good amount of seating in the cafe, from normal tables to a couch to lounge on. The interior of the cafe is lined with brick and the warm lighting casts a soft cozy feeling. There is ample space to sit and enjoy your drink. I'd even say it's a good spot to study as it is spacious and does not get too loud. Drinks/food: We've tried the Iced Ube Matcha latte, Iced sea salt latte, Iced Ube Latte, as well as the Ube truffles. I love the ube flavor and it pairs perfectly with their matcha. They don't use the highest quality matcha but the ube flavor carries and still provides a nice tasty drink. The iced coffee was good, a little too sweet and kind of just an average latte, nothing to write home about. The ube truffles are something sweet that hit the spot if you have that sweet ube craving. They are soft and chewy and just the perfect bite. I am definitely biased in general because I really like ube so if you aren't the biggest fan you may not like it Overall this place does make their drinks on the sweeter side so going half sweet is smart if you don't want a blast of sugar. Service: Everyone thus far has been extremely friendly and welcoming! Overall: Cafe 86 is a solid spot if you are in the mood and have a craving for sweet, ube forward drinks and sweets. The menu is fun and unique, especially for anyone who enjoys ube flavors. The cafe itself offers a comfortable, inviting space that works well for hanging out or getting some work done. While the drinks can run on the sweeter side and some of the drinks are just average, the overall experience is still enjoyable. The friendly service and relaxed atmosphere is a calm choice for a new casual cafe stop, particularly if you are there for their ube specialties.
