If you like pastries and desserts, this place will knock your socks off! The selection and display was extraordinary and I wanted to try everything. The little cheesecake with red berries was creamy and delicious and a perfect balance between crust, filling, and fruit...so so so good. I also had the turkey and avocado sandwich on challah, which I loved but I can see how others might find it on the small side. I was saving my appetite for the cheesecake so it was ideal for me. The only reason I don't give this location 5 stars is that it was super crowded and you have to be like a buzzard, looking for somebody to leave so you can pounce on their table. Just stopped in to visit their new location in Newton Center! Tons of indoor seating, and the space super big so even when there's a long line it doesn't feel crowded. They have the same menu as their other locations and plenty of pre packaged treats to take with you. I ordered a london fog which was delightful and not overly sweet ($3.25) and a kouign aman ($4.50) which is the perfect sweet pastry like a crossaint but with a shell of caramelized sugar. I also ordered the winter farro bowl with arugula, assorted veggies, an egg and whipped goat cheese... this was phenomenal! So filling and delicious. I sat in store so they brought all the food to my seat which was super helpful. There's not a lot of street parking but there are parking lots both on the front and back end of the store so super easy to access. A great spot to get some work done while I eat... will definitely be back! read more

Small but good outdoor seating in many locations. The white tile design of all the locations looks sleek but makes for a very loud/noisy environment, difficult for having conversations. As always, the food is delicious, the service is amazing and so kind, and the window pastries are mouth-watering. They literally just opened and I've already been multiple times. The savory scone was delicious, the green and nutty salad is delectable, and as always, the shakshouka and toasted challah bread is one of the best on the whole menu. I was a big fan of the small location in Cambridge. It felt intimate and the pastry was always fresh. Compared to that, the new location in Newton is very big, very loud, and feels more like Panera (which was there before Tatte) than a small bakery. I had a pistachio croissant, which was rather dry and stale, and a prosciutto and fig sandwich, which was really tasty but took a while to be prepared. My party had a slice of pizza, which had really flavorful mushrooms, but was cold and seriously overpriced. I really hope they will get into their stride and the experience may improve. read more

LOVE Tatte. But, during a dine in experience, also placed ahead a take out order totaling over an additional $100. Selected the "extra" meat options in each order. It frankly didn't look/feel any different then a regular order. I brought this up, and after 20 minutes of waiting was served a measly side plate for all our to go orders totaling 3 tablespoons of food for all the to go "extra" orders. I highly suggest they place these "extra" portion orders in a separate side container rather than passing by for an extra order of an ordinary meal. I didn't feel like paying nearly 20 additional dollars across all the orders was worth the "extra" amount. The tables there are very tiny-round. I have got to this location a few times now for breakfast. Its not my first time at Tatte and I will honestly say I like the atmosphere here better then the Wellesley location. However a few things to note. 1) The front cashiers in the morning seem not super welcoming and like they would rather be anywhere else. Makes me feel rushed and like I am annoying them. 2) the other employees are very nice. 3) Ive order the breakfast sandwich and the gf breakfast sandwich here a few time with a few different egg preparation. The poach egg was extremely undercooked the whites were runny and slimy. If you want a runny yoke I would go with over medium or sunny side as both these were cooked better. If you dont like jammy or runny yokes then scrambled is the best bet. As for the gf bread it's honestly really dry and kinda gross. Also some reason one half was like really toasted why the other seemed like it came straight from the bag and was soft. 4) the pastries are amazing and so is the coffee. I always hey an Iced mocha but have heard from my partner that the house latte and pistachio latte are equally wonderful. Overall a great spot if you can get over small things. read more

I've always been obsessed with Tatte and this location did not disappoint. Tatte is a Boston-based chain with locations in Back Bay, Seaport, Harvard Square, etc. and I was overjoyed to see a location open in Newton Center! It's the best place to go to for a cute brunch with friends, studying, or to grab a coffee with a coworker. Food: As always, the food is great, and the breakfast items continue to outshine the pastries. Recommendations include the Avocado Tartine, the Sweet Potato Tartine or Croissant Sandwich if you're looking for something heavier and the Muesli. Also love the Lamb Shakshuka which comes with two slices of toasted challah to split! Drink: Literally obsessed with their House Latte (honey halva with cardamom and spices) and Matcha Latte (unsweetened with oat milk!). Their iced lattes and hot lattes with almond milk are pretty good as well. Ambiance: Love love love the size of the Newton location. I know previous reviewers wished it was smaller and more intimate but I love the open air and open bar concept. It's so much less claustrophobic than the Harvard Square one which is always packed and made it impossible to get around, let alone find a table.
