This visit, I added the chicken noodle soup. Piping hot, packed with tender chicken, noodles, celery, and carrots in a flavorful broth. Extremely poor service with the racist workers of this establishment. Two of us (white guy and myself) waited at "Order Here" for a long time while employees made food in front of us and ignored us. A Hispanic customer who walked up after us was helped right away. At 11:06 AM I tried to order a breakfast sandwich and was told breakfast ended at 11, despite having been there before the cutoff and not being acknowledged. Stopped in to grab coffee (did NOT want the battery acid Starbucks sells around the corner) and found they had a nice selection of pastries and food as well. Bought a coffee and a muffin and it rang up to like $6!! In DC! Coffee was good and muffin felt like it was made within the last 24 hours unlike some other places. This is my go-to lunch spot! I've had their BLT, gyro, and steak and cheese sandwiches. These hot sandwiches are my favorites because they pack them with meat. I've also had their tuna and Italian sandwich which were not very impressive. The Italian had bologna on it. Been here a couple times now and had good experiences. First time was when we got caught in the lunch rush but service was still very quick and efficient. I ordered one of their Turkey based sandwiches which was delicious and filling. They have several options on the menu and allow customizations or dietary accommodations. Recently we stopped here for breakfast and got an egg and cheese sandwich on an everything bagel. Not much seasoning on the egg which made it pretty bland but it was probably one of the cheapest egg and cheese bagels you'll find in DC. It gives off nice local cafe vibes and it's also partially a convenience store for quick snacks and drinks. This place has very good and fast service for breakfast and lunch. The food is very good with nice portion sizes. The service is always prompt and kind. Amazing how difficult it is to find breakfast before 7am in Washington DC. I guess politicians are not early risers! Regardless, found this place on GrubHub. Never ordered delivery via any service before, but seeing as how my hotel only had a muffin and a moldy orange, I didn't have much of a choice. Ordered the veggie omelette. Came with wheat toast and hashbrowns. The omelette was good, but a bit small. Used to 3 egg omelettes in the heart land, but it will suffice. The hashbrown was like McDonald's, fried but not as crispy. The toast was lightly toasted. I also ordered a hazlenut coffee, just for the fun of it. Adequate. Not great, not bad. Surprisingly warm after a 30 minute drive across town. Not sure what that was all about, but I can't hold that against the store. read more

Friendly "hello" upon walking in, and tasty breakfast sandwiches available till 1pm on the weekend: Exactly what I needed. I ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich that was delicious. While initially I was bummed that they were out of bagels, it turned out just fine because the croissant was tasty and flaky. The other parts of the sandwich were great, too -- the sausage was tasty, the egg was nice and runny, and the cheese was perfectly melted. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that they stock La Colombe draft lattes in a can (several flavors!), so I had a really nice, quick meal. DOES NOT FOLLOW DC ÇOVID-19 RULES. I went there this morning and a customer was leaning over the counter talking to the check out person. The customer was wearing a mask around his chin. I asked the customer to put his mask on and he moved it up so it just covered his mouth, leaving his nose exposed. I requested that he wear it properly and he said "I just finished helping a homeless man so give me a break," which made no sense to me in terms of wearing a mask. Then he told me how he is from Chicago and he runs a homeless shelter there, which again is completely irrelevant to wearing a mask. I just said "MAGA" and he didn't like that very much. The employees in the cafe did not at any point ask this man to put on his mask, which is the current order of the Mayor in the city. When we got outside the customer said to me that he had a better chance of getting struck by lightning than catching Corona. Let's look at that thought: Currently there are 11,099,645 verified infections world wide. And that is verified infections - the number of asymptomatic infected people means we may have somewhere like 10 or 20 times that number who are actually infected. But using that number: Do 11,099,645 people get struck by lightning every few months? No, they do not. So you have a much higher chance of catching this than getting struck by lightning. The current rule in DC is masks are required inside. This place is not interested in enforcing these rules. I would avoid entering this place until we get a vaccine in 2023. If you must order from them consider doing delivery. read more
