vaughn needs to chill out and do some yoga... i had two tattoos and a piercing done here; eli, kate and ali... they are all absolutely LOVELY and i would have given this studio 5 stars if it hadn't been for today's completely terrible and disappointing experience. i had a 1pm apt with eli, we had been planning this artwork out for over a month and i know my design was tricky and complicated. eli did sooo so much to make sure i was completely satisfied, he was working on the drawing for over an hour and i really appreciated his attention to detail. i knew too that he would execute this amazingly and exactly as i had wanted it. so the design i wanted was the flower of life, but taking over my shoulder. the flower of life is sacred geometry; what this entire fabric of what we call reality is woven of. i see it all the time and it's literally everywhere. when it came to placing the stencil on my shoulder, i knew the design would not be perfect because of the limitations of this physical reality. i obviously understand that he didn't want the design to look bad, and appreciate it, but i literally saw the solution so clearly and also had so much confidence in eli and his artwork. vaughn started insulting the tattoos that i have, saying 'it's not my fault you have two fucked up tattoos' (they're not, btw) and then began literally YELLING at me. it was at this point that i couldn't proceed with eli and i's work, so asked him to wipe it off so i could leave. as a business owner, i would never speak to a customer that way, as you aren't a business without customers, lol. also, as a human, don't fucking yell at people, you have no idea what's going on in their lives. baaaaadddd vibessss. the way he acted was completely unprofessional, totally unnecessary and i will absolutely never step foot into the space again after being treated like complete garbage. read more

It was a little after 1pm. I asked a question about a tattoo for my girlfriend. The owner, Vaughn, started being rude and snarky. I apologized for the misunderstanding and told him "thanks for the clarification, I'll see you at 3 for my appointment" as I had my deposit down and he had work in progress to finish. He said "your appointment has been cancelled." I was SHOCKED. My appointment was in 2 hours... I asked him what he meant and he said I can "reschedule or pick up my deposit". I felt super uncomfortable and asked if we could talk about this. He dismissed my request and just waited for my answer. I wanted to get out of there so I took my deposit....now I have to finish my leg sleeves by someone else. I don't know what happened but I'm still uncomfortable about how it was all handled...not the kind of treatment I was used to by a "professional" Update: The next day, rather than reaching out to me directly about this review, he posts on social media slandering me using my full name. read more

I took my niece here to get her industrial pierced for her Birthday. We walked in and were welcomed and said the receptionist would be right with us. When she came in we went through everything and because my niece is a minor I had already filled out the required paperwork and had it notarized so we were all set. She was back in the chair within 5 minutes. Vaughn welcomed us asked her what she wanted to do and explained the process to her. She picked her jewelry and was pierced within a few minutes. Vaughn reviewed the after care with her and said if anything feels wrong to call or come into the shop right away. I appreciated that he spoke to my niece directly and not to me as the adult. Everyone practiced Covid safety in the shop and I felt totally comfortable. They were all nice and professional and I would recommend and go back to the shop again. read more

I've come to this shop twice within the last 3 years for both the tattoos I have. The first time I made an appointment and was tatted by Vaughn on my left hip. The second time was this last Saturday, without an an appointment, getting matching tats with my best friend. Both times, Vaughn was professional, patient, and friendly. And of course, did an AWESOME job. The one in my hip was around $200 and the one on my rib cage was $120. I plan on coming back for another before summer comes around! read more

I have been going to Vaughn for five years now and followed him to Tattoo Ritual from his previous shop. I have gotten work done by Vaughn, Jackie, and Kate and each tattoo comes out incredible. Every time I go to the shop it's like seeing old friends- great conversations and laughs. I could go into the shop with the wildest description of what I want and when I come in for my appointment the sketch is more amazing than I could have imagined. The small lion Vaughn did on my finger nearly five years ago has held up as if it is brand new and the same with the other tattoos I have had done here. Amazing shop, amazing people. Got a tattoo done here I love it she was very sweet I believe her name was Jackie, it was a couple years ago and it healed great I love it, but as for the piercer I would maybe find someone new, I took this photo of my rook last year and it was such a painful experience and I ended up taking it out right away and going to get it done somewhere else months later. I showed Vaughn some simple drawings, basic microsoft clip art type stuff, and presented my ideas and asked if he could "bring it to life". I came back in two weeks and boy did he deliver. The decor is just amazing, with wine colored walls, beautiful chandeliers, velvet furniture, dark wood floors and artwork to die for. Very inviting. The staff is beyond friendly, and very cool. They make you feel at home. I am in the middle of a huge back piece with Scarlet Sinclair. Now, I have a fair amount of tattoo's and have been "inked" by a few people in my time, but Scarlet has the softest touch! You can literally fall asleep in the chair because the environment is so relaxing and her energy is just so calming. She is incredibly talented, sweet, and straight-up AMAZABALLS! I visited Kate today to get my second tattoo from her. Her work is beyond amazing!!! She did a coverup on my wrist and you would never know by looking at the tattoo that is is a coverup. She took a picture of a mandala that I liked and created a masterpiece. She is a true artist. In addition to my tattoo, she did one for my daughter on her foot. Again, it's an amazing piece but what impressed me the most was the time she spent with my daughter going over the design and making sure that and placement was perfect. Given that it was my daughter's first tattoo, her knowledge and expertise was extremely comforting. I highly recommend Tattoo Ritual. Went with my sis to get our tragus done. Vaughn was calm and friendly. He was patient and answered all of our questions. I got both of my tragus pierced while my sis got second lobes and one tragus done. He made it a warm experience with all the reassurance to cool our anxiety. (Reading horror stories the night before wasn't a great idea) It was quick and not that painful. I was surprised bc I had a bad helix piercing at a diff tattoo parlor. Terrible communication. I walked in to set an appointment with the receptionist and they were quick to take my deposit $100. I had to leave town and planned a trip to come back for my tattoo which is a cover up and I explained that from the beginning TWICE! And Twice I'm from out of state. She booked the wrong dates but luckly I called the day after to confirm to find this out and They told me to send my pics and call a few days ahead to confirm my appointment. I send pictures for my cover up and 4 days later a couple days before my appointment they message me to cancel my appointment and they don't do cover ups unless a consultation. I called immediately and they told me to come pick up my deposit and cancel or they will just take my $100 because the receptionist failed to remember I was doing a cover up. It was such an inconvenience and a waste of my time and money for a paid trip. read more

I've been to Tattoo Ritual several times. Vaughn is in the process of working on my arm sleeve. Not only is he a genuine person he takes the time to to tell all of his employees how well, hard working and great they are all doing. He accidentally double booked me once and told jackie to work on my sleeve and he kept checking up on me and jackie to make sure everything was going smooth and that i liked the work. Vaughn and everyone else at Tattoo Ritual are very professional, respectful, a pleasure to deal with and most importantly great at what they do. I highly recomend them. read more

Worst place i've ever been to for a tattoo. Super unprofessional and unfriendly. I made an appointment a month prior with Vaugh AND put a down payment. When i showed up for my appointment he wasn't there and was posting pictures of him at the beach and at the gym. All at the time my tattoo was supposed to be done. Before i say anything about my tattoo artist, if anything go in just to sit in that couch / arm chair in the corner. It is perfection. Ian did my tattoo tonight and he is a true artist in every sense of the word, My tattoo came out perfectly. Not only was he polite, well mannered, and patient with me and all my requests but he also made me feel extremely comfortable throughout the whole process. It took him about 10-15 min to set up the room which made it clear to me that he was taking his time, making sure that everything was clean and safe to use. The actual tattooing did not take long, as i had gotten something very small. What is important though is that I know what he put on me was original artwork, something that can not be duplicated. He did not print something off the computer and screen it on to me, he took the time to draw it out and present it. Not only would i recommend this shop but i would really like to stress how great of an artist Ian is. Great experience. Great staff. Would definitely come back. read more

He's honest (if it won't work as a tattoo, if the colors won't look good, if the size or shape won't fit well....Frank will let you know with 100% honesty) He's friendly. I went with my son to tattoo ritual on several occasions. I've gone now two times for myself and I am so hooked. I may not get bold huge art pieces but I get what has meaning to me. Best shop I've been to. Vaughn is a great artist and pricing is fair as well. There's a difference between tattooists and tattoo artists... Vaughn's a true artist and his work is nearly perfect! saw the reviews and decided to come here, told a story of how I recently lost a loved one and wanted to get something in memory of the recently lost. The woman that did my tattoo, did not introduce herself, told me to sit down, asked me what I wanted then gave me the price after we started. I tried to make conversation and it was definitely clear this woman was having a bad day.She made it clear she did not want to interact in a friendly way at all. I felt a lot of bad vibes and now when I look at my tattoo and think about when I got it, I think about the unfriendly woman who clearly did not want to be at work on this day. I felt rushed about my decision, even when I asked her to give me a moment to think about it. For the first time in my life I left a place of business and did not tip. I'm an in the process of having wings tattooed on my back by Scarlet Sinclair at Tattoo Ritual. Their shop is gorgeous with deep reds, a velvet couch and their mascot raven in the window. Their staff is friendly and constantly checking in to see if we need anything during a 3-5 hour session. How refreshing.
