This place is a rip-off. I paid way too much for my piercings and the piercer glossed over aftercare, didn't tell me that I would be charged for infection treatment. For aftercare, he advised me to take hot showers and scrub the piercing with my fingers to invite circulation. What? I didn't follow his terrible advice but one of them got infected. I contacted the studio and they said they charged for infection treatment. I called them to find out more information. The piercer wouldn't explain the treatment to me. Instead, he became immediately defensive and dismissive and talked about the money he would lose in helping me with my infection. Then, he quickly passed the phone to Bruce, the owner, who proceeded in a condescending tone to essentially tell me that if I don't like it, go somewhere else. And then he hangs up on me. Nice. It's simply terrible, scammy business practices. Charging for infection treatment in some degree provides an incentive for the piercer to do shoddy work, plain and simple. I don't write negative reviews like this unless I really feel grossly mistreated by a business. There are so many great piercing places. Don't bother with this one. read more

We decided to start with two of the piercings and then she let me think about if I wanted the third. She made me feel so comfortable with the first two I ended up going for it and doing all three. Do you know how they say if an owner of a place is corrupt it trickles down to the staff?...I hardly ever write negative reviews or had negative experiences from places I do business with, but I'm writing this from a place of being treated completely inhumanely dealing with a very incompetent, disorderly, and unprofessional organization, and when I tried to find mediation or some logic, the owner himself treated me with the same mannerism, and spoke very rude and condescending, with the intent of defamation of my character. I will share with you what I unfortunately experienced from the shop, which is absolutely immoral and unethical- and I have documentation and proof of everything including my phone conversations and emails to the owner Bruce!! Incase they even try to respond to this with more cover up, I will put them ON BLAST! I'm also taking the legal route in this matter. The mental stress I've endured instead of a wonderful experience is mind boggling! You literally wait over 8 months for artists to leave you with unfinished work and the owner siding with his absolutely incompetent and very UNPROFESSIONAL workers from RUDE front desk staff defending the behavior of tattoo artist Kevin who got offended because I expected to be worked on throughout the duration of the services, instead of him cutting sessions for the day and planning lunch and dinner during our allocates times, which I waited over 8 months for! I was initially told the simple job I wanted done would take a total of 2 sessions, with durations of 4 hours allocated per session. Day 1: incompetent tattoo artist leaves after an hour of tatting me, I inquired as to the remaining 3 hours- he barely replies)- I try to talk to front desk staff asking if they can add another day, they tell me I have to wait another 8 months, I said excuse me but he cut our duration short? They reply with "other people wait even longer" - long story short after speaking to owner Bruce a day later, he tells me it was cut short because I was complaining I was in pain and it was a misunderstanding!!?! I told him.i expressed pain but not to cut session short for I was enduring it- instead of him speaking to Kevin like a good business owner would, he tells his secretaries to slap on another appointment within a few weeks- ok session 2: sketches for a few more hours and stops but was longer than 2.5 hours so I didn't budge because he was adamant to use our last session for completion. I said no problem. 3rd appointment: he works on me for an hour and 40 min -what happened to the remaining 3 hours to finish the work?? And the artist again is planning dinner during my session. Wasn't this resolved with Bruce during initial session? Hmmm yeah apparently not. I tried to mediate with Bruce after 4th of July weekend and that's when he gaslighted me. In verbatim: "The artists are allowed to leave whenever they please" contradicting what he told me on the phone during our initial conversation, where he started, " why would my artist cut session short, he would be loosing out on money if he did. I mean you said you were in pain?..." I confronted him about the discrepancy between what he told me during our initial and last conversation, and that's where I got this nature of responses: Bruce mentioned all uncorrelated/ non-contingent matters, engaging in avoidance "I mean look how you drove out the parking lot" and "how you spoke on the phone" this was all his attempt to try to portray me as irrational, dodging every attempt to face his own staff's lack of professionalism and incompetence. I reiterated that you know your at wrong here and with no resolution his finish line was "I usually don't give refunds no matter what, but I'm giving you one. What else do you want?" Haha it wasn't a refund. It's the initial deposit which is supposed to be granted towards my last session, which wasn't because my last session is almost a year in advance due to the artist's slack. Absolutely absurd. I requested copy of their contract which Bruce didn't provide me with. I wonder if it says their artists are allowed to walk out whenever they please, even after an hour for a 4 hour time block, leaving customers with unfinished work? They left me no apology, with unfinished work and of course I'm never doing business with them again. Save yourselves from headache and mental stress, especially during these times when we're supposed to be growing in justice!!!! read more

I picked Lance as my artist due to loving his black & grey work. I am getting a full sleeve done by him, and thus far I have had a total of 4 appointments. The initial consultation, the second appointment was going over images/design ideas, and the last 2 appointments have been actually getting tattooed. Every step of the process at this shop has been done professionally and exceptionally. Everyone who works at this shop has been extremely helpful, respectful, polite and accommodating. I have not one negative thing to say thus far. As far as Lance, I don't think I'd ever go to another artist for black & grey work ever again. The design he came up with far exceeded any expectations and surpassed anything I could have EVER conjured up in my own head. I am only two sessions into a full sleeve, and already his work has blown me away. I could not have found a better artist to get exactly what I wanted, and then some. Not only is his work amazing, but he and I are able to have great conversation the entire way through, to where my session flies by and I have no idea how much time has passed by the end of the session. I feel connecting with your artist is essential to the experience and to getting what you want, and I certainly feel that when getting tattooed by Lance. The whole experience of Lark Tattoo; the anticipation and excitement driving there, to the friendly people behind the counter, to the actual tattoo experience itself has been incredible, and I get so excited and look forward to the next appointment every time. Very clean inside and staff was kind at first. Directly before having ears pierced the piercer claimed that she was high. Piercing seemed fine, however, until short after what the healing process should be ended, when I woke up with the back of my earring inside my ear. After getting the earring removed at urgent care, I was informed that this should not happen with earrings of the kind that I was wearing. After requesting a refund I was called by the owner and the piercer. First I was told to "use my brain" and then was yelled at, being told that the piercer knew more than the doctor about the problem. read more

I've been back to Lark for two pieces since my last review. Sadly, Chad passed away two-ish years ago and so I've seen two new artists for the new ink and was more than pleased with both of them. Last summer, I saw Jay. I wanted a very specific-looking palm tree from a photo of where we used to live in CA, and some flowers and a bird. Jay did amazing work -- for realz, I get complemented on the line work in this one all the freakin' time from friends and strangers on the street. I'm still thinking of how I want to expand on this piece, and would definitely work with Jay again. This summer, I decided to get a birthday tattoo at the last minute and Jay was booked up for at least a month. Instead, I saw Joe Friedman (based on availability and his online portfolio). I wanted to create a background for the tattoo of my kitty that Chad did for me a few years back while covering up an old, regrettable tattoo in the same area. I mentioned to Joe that I loved bougainvillea flowers and showed him a few photos, and he ran with that theme. He's awesome with bright color and flowers, and so it was a perfect fit for this piece. I'd definitely work with Joe again too. The best thing about Lark is that over the years, I can reliably just see any artist working there and be pleased with the results. I chose this place to get my industrial piercing done because the reviews seemed great. When it was fresh I thought it looked great until it started healing thats when I noticed something was wrong. The piercer was nice and clean but he did not show me the angles or where he was gonna pierce it. He pierced through the cartilage on one side but the other side he only pierced through the skin, as you can see from the photo you can see the metal as if my skin is almost see through. I thought it'd be fine but it wasn't. When it healed the skin was so thin and dried out it just popped right out and now I have a scar on my ear where it went wrong. I also measured the jewelry and found out that it was way too short for my ear and it was a 12g. 12g!!! Who pierces with a 12g?! Maybe this place is 10/10 for tattoos but im disappointed in my piercing experience. read more

I got my first nostril piercing today at Lark I got the needle method (not going to lie it was painful I had tears streaming down my face but I was able to handle it) everyone was so nice and kind (the piercer ended up wiping some of my tears off my face) he used a new needle straight out of the package, he cleaned my nose thoroughly 3 times. It's 11pm now and I got the piercing around 6 or 7 pm the piercing doesn't hurt now just a little numb. The only thing I didn't really like was the price I got surgical steel which was around $80 and it was the cheapest option, my total came up to $102 or $104 plus change which included 2 cleaning products that were $5 each.Lark is pricey but it's a good place to go. read more
