Had dinner at The Tavern on the Green as I was in town staying in Oak Lawn and the menu looked good. It was good across the board (not great) but would dine here again. Parking was easy, and was available on both sides of the restaurant. The atmosphere came off more of a giant pub with lots of TVs and good plenty of table and booth seating. For food, I order the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich ($17) with sweet potato fries. The breaded fried chicken breast was a generous portion, topped with marinara sauce & melted mozzarella cheese served on a toasted asiago roll. Those sweet potato fries were delicious and recommend a side of raunch dressing for a dipping sauce. There wasn't a lot of folks dining when I went in for an early dinner and I thought service was really slow. Waitress was supper friendly and made excellent recommendations from the menu, so not bad, just slow. read more

I love this place but today I tired something different which was the shrimp scampi and it's cooked in all butter. The manager confirmed it. It's tastes like a lump of butter. They refuse to take it back or offer me something else. Not good customer service. . Soooo disappointed because never had issue with them before. My 1st time in the establishment having a late lunch/dinner with my friend. Our waitress was very nice. The place is clean. Just a typical sports bar. If I could give this restaurant 0 stars, I would. First of all, I ordered 2 burgers and some dessert for later, which came to about 50 BUCKS! And the food was cold too! Second of all, there was no one there. The ambiance was off putting, the TV was so loud that my ears were ringing and almost bleeding, and the FOOD was COLD! And don't even get me started on the bald, thumb from Spy Kids, beer belly, head so shiny I can see my reflection, owner named George. George was so rude to my husband and probably poisoned and spit in his food because I saw him in the kitchen smirking at me and my husband when he took a bite. My boyfriend & I came in for lunch this st paddy's day & bartender Adem gave us exceptional service, the bar was busy but he made sure we were taken care of as well as start great conversations with us! I had a bad visit but I'm going to retain the three star rating. They should just know that they are going to be losing customers unless they improve. Went yesterday and sat outside. I wanted to sit in the bar but I had a party of two and they only had a couple of large tables. I get it. You want to hold the large tables for larger groups. Not a problem. I told the host guy that I'd sit outside. That was a mistake. They had the Bears game on outside but you really couldn't see it with the glare. This isn't their fault. I also got to watch some spoiled brats run around the tent while their respective mothers or guardians failed to control them. Again, not their fault. You know what is their fault? Plastic forks and carry out trays. If I wanted to eat out of a carry out tray with plastic utensils then I would have ordered the food to go. This sucks. Save the plastic nonsense and bring my food on something ceramic and let me eat it with something metal. I got attacked by bees as well. Tip: If you put out a gallon of orange pop the bees will fly into it and drown. No charge for that tip. Anyway, my food was very good. Hey everyone, earlier today I went to this establishment and I am happy to report that I would come again. When I first got to the restaurant me and my friend were promptly sat and had time to look over the menu. The menu had so many options and I found myself in between options . Our server was sweet and allowed us to take as much time as we need and Even recommended my entree which was the Chicken Caesar wrap and my friend got the Buffalo chicken wrap. The portions were so big and I only ate half of my wrap and had a lot of fries still left over. Prior to my main meal, I got the southwest egg rolls and they were delicious. So fresh hot from the grease and you can taste every ingredient and was definitely my favorite part. So there's tons of tv's making its a decent spot to watch sports. By all appearances it seems clean. Service is solid. My first gripe is the kids Mac and cheese that is $6.50 but comes from a box. I mean at least use Kraft Shells and cheese. That's way over the top. My second gripe was in the nachos. Overall pretty solid with both liquid cheese and shredded cheese plus sour cream, guacamole and pico to add on. For an additional $3 you can add chicken. There was the equivalent of about half a small chicken breast on the nachos. That really took away from making an excellent nacho. Also there weren't a whole of jalapeños on it either. Tavern in the Green is a hidden gem. Everything was excellent. The service was great and the food was good. My bf and I stumbled on this place after attempting to go to Chi Tung only to find it overly crowded with a long wait time. I did not know what to expect. However, the food was great! I ordered the chicken parmesan sandwich with sweet potato fries and my bf got the buffalo chicken wrap with the mixed vegetables. That chicken parm sandwich was huge. The portion size is outrageous. I love that they let you pick which bread your sandwich comes on. The sweet potato fries were as addictive as the waitress warned me. Although I've been here a handful of times, I figured after my last visit I would leave a review. Tavern always has the most friendly staff and quick service. Our food for a table of 4 came out within 10-15 minutes and everything was delicious. I ordered the blackened chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and a side of Buffalo sauce. Our family has gone here many times and always have enjoyed our visits. It's a sports bar but not so loud you can't hear yourself think or converse with others at the table. Service here is always very good and servers are professional and friendly. Our last visit, my daughter had the sliders, my wife had the fish and chips and I had the pot roast sandwich. All loved our meals, though I should have known from the get go that a pot roast sandwich would be tough to eat as a sandwich. With a knife and fork though it was very good. I didn't give 5 stars on this review because my wife and I were greatly looking forward to their chicken wings. We've had them sssoooo many times in the past and absolutely loved them. I came here for lunch today and this is probably my third visit. While Samantha was a pleasant server what is promoting this review was her manager Ness. I ordered shrimp scampi and according to the menu it's pan seared shrimp in a white wine butter sauce. My shrimp came out with a light breading on it. My boyfriend was kind enough to express to Samantha that I didn't care for my food (which was evident by how much was left) and she asked Ness to remove the item. Albeit he removed the item, he stated to me "I'll remove it this time, but next time ask how it's prepared ". Not only was that rude but it was condescending. I even looked up the definition of pan seared to see (because I'm no chef) if a breading is typical of pan searing. I knew I wouldn't find evidence of that to be true. So normally I love this place and come here a lot. Today I went for lunch with friends and things were going well, we were watching the game on tv and then all the sudden all the stations were turned to the derby. Now it's fine if people get excited by this and want to watch, but I'm sorry there are other paying customers who don't. I asked the bartender (an older guy who's partially bald) to change one tv back to the game so we could all see it and he gave me attitude and said he has money on the derby, and wants to watch. Seriously dude this is not your personal home and not every single tv needs to be tuned to one thing. This became an unnecessary argument until I threatened to speak with the manager and then he finally relented and turned a couple TVs back to the game. I'm not sure if he has a gambling problem or is just seriously lacking in customer service but I won't be back if this is the kind of shabby treatment customers will get. In my latest venture I had a bowl of soup which was half filled with watery semi-warm chicken soup, and got the pulled pork sandwich, which was shredded pork with bbq sauce on a hamburger bun. with fries. Since the last time it took them ten minutes to get my drink, I drank the ice water. Grand total with tip - eighteen bucks. To start out let me say that I really wanted to like this place. It's local, the food was quick, everyone was friendly.... But it was just kinda average. You get your really typical Irish bar/grill kinda vibe, and because it's a bar, we ordered a combo platter appetizer - something we thought would be perfected at a place people would be ordering this kind of stuff. But it was like.. Over fried or something? Like it was just too crispy and kinda hard. Onion rings weren't that good, mozzarella sticks were nothing special. And there was only 2 potato skins, which feels a little measly considering the price and what you expect. Something I really did enjoy was my blue cheese burger and sweet potato fries- one of my favorite meal combos. I thought it was great, the fries were delicious and the burger was cooked perfectly. Overall, I give it 3 stars because it was a tad lackluster. Appetizer was kinda bleh, burger was good, but nothing too exciting.
