You know the show Cheers--where you walk in and everyone knows your name? That's the vibe I got from this place. Not for myself... lmao, since I was new here, but you can tell that everyone knows each other, and it's just a really friendly environment to be in. I felt totally safe, even though I was one of like three girls there, and honestly, everyone was super nice, super friendly, and sarcastic--just the way I like it. It was easy to feel comfortable and even easier to want to come back. They have a really solid beer selection, but the real winner is their cider--it's 8% alcohol, which is insane for a cider, but hey, I'm not complaining. They had the hockey game on, which I definitely appreciated, and they also have a pool table where you can write your name down to play. Not sure if there's a charge for that, but either way, it's a nice touch. They're open pretty late, and while the location doesn't have a bunch of other bars or spots around, the upside is tons of parking--which I totally love. Wow! Gold Rail Bar is such a hidden gem. The moment I walked in the door I felt welcomed. It has such a warm vibe and a cozy, relaxed atmosphere. The fireplace adds to the ambience. This place underwent an ownership change in October 2023 and is under new management. It's your classic friendly neighborhood dive that serves up expertly crafted cocktails at budget friendly prices. The bartenders are fantastic! Especially Alex, who is friendly & engaging. I specifically came here to support my girl, Johanna. She was doing a guest bartending shift. An added bonus was also seeing Alex and my buddy Juan (who also works here). In honor of National Margarita Day (2/22) Johanna created some specialty cocktails featuring Tromba Tequila. I started with a Classic Margarita. It was absolutely perfect and made with fresh lime & agave. The bartenders here make everything from scratch. No bottled mixers, which is how it should be. For dessert I had the Espresso Martini (Tromba Cafeto, Tromba Reposado, & Cold Brew). It was my first time having an Espresso Martini with tequila, and it was delicious! Perfectly balanced and not overpowering. During my visit I had the pleasure of speaking with the new owner, Sung. She was darling and she genuinely cares about her establishment, staff, and clientele. We had a great chat and she told me that she's thinking of adding a dart board and possibly a Pac Man tabletop. Most importantly, she wants to make sure customers have a memorable experience. I can honestly say that it absolutely was for me! Even though it was a school night I couldn't leave without doing a shot with my favorite crew. A Mexican Candy shot (Tromba Blanco, Watermelon, Agave), which was another delicious creation that I thoroughly enjoyed. I went to this bar for a girlfriend's birthday and it was a fun little gym to stumble upon. It has a pool table and you can tell a lot of memories. From the moment I walked in, the staff's attitude was openly discriminatory. They refused to serve me even though the bar was clearly open and other people were being served without any issue. There was no explanation, no courtesy -- just a flat refusal that felt purely RACISM. Instead of resolving the situation professionally, they escalated it by calling the police on me, even though I had done absolutely nothing wrong. When the officers arrived, they spoke with me, quickly realized what had happened, and left without taking any action. This kind of behavior has no place in a public business. If you're looking for a place that'll turn your boring day/evening around, this is the place to be! I just moved back to Glendale this week, and this pub is a gem. It's right around the corner from where I used to live, within walking distance. Last night, I decided to refresh my memory and walked over after dinner. We randomly walked into Karaoke night, and it was perfect. We had no idea what we were in for, but we ended up staying until close! That's how fun and amazing it was. We drank, we sang, and we made friends. Juan and Alex treated us so well! They were attentive and hilarious, loving how I was singing in Spanish and my Russian boyfriend too. A beer fell and broke, making a mess, and they immediately helped clean it up and replaced the drink. Super generous! The bartenders are super nice and funny, adding to the great atmosphere. The place is super clean, including the restrooms, which are up-kept and well-stocked. We overstayed our visit because of all the mingling. Thank you for your hospitality. We love this bar and come here all the time on weekdays. But we went on a Saturday and there were different bartenders than the ones we know and love from during the week. This new bartender charged us for an extra drink that we did not order (my husband and I each had two beers, we were charged for 5 beers total). Which could be an honest mistake... but he also added a 10% credit card fee. We have never had a fee added during the week, and most credit card fees are 3% -- I've never heard of one being 10%. So overall it really felt like he was trying to scam us. When we pointed it out, the other bartender took off the extra drink and we paid cash so we didn't have to pay the fee (and we still left a tip, in case it was an accident.). But it really added a sour note to an otherwise wonderful place we love. read more

Gold rail is a small neighborhood dive bar with a casual and comfortable feel and great drinks. I came here on a Tuesday night and it wasn't deserted. There is a parking lot next door and Some street parking. I assume it's ok to park in the lot when the businesses are closed. The crowd was young- people in their 30s and 40s. There was one bartender and she was really nice. She was really kind and offered to give me samples of beers to see which I like best. One downfall is that they don't have beer flights. Otherwise, the drinks are good and reasonably priced. The enviable is dark and there's a small fireplace that gives it a nice touch. They're open late every night. read more

This bartender/bus boy came up to us as we were at the touchtunes and deliberately paused the machine and told us we couldn't play Spanish music. Honestly I was shocked that someone would say something like that and when he reiterated what he said it was stereotypical and racist! I used to go to this place before it was called Gold Rail Bar, and it was our local hang out so it had been a while since I visited location. I decided to take a friend there for a drink and as soon as we walked in, we felt unwelcomed! We sat down for a while and checked out the board for drinks and noticed that they don't have waitresses to take your order, so we walked to the bar to place our order and we stood there for a good 5 minutes waiting to be acknowledged by the bartender who clearly saw us but purposely ignored us. He was chatting with what seemed to be regular customers and completely ignored us. We walked out without placing an order and when we walked out the bartender seemed to make remarks and continued to laugh with the customers he was talking to. We felt very uncomfortable and descriminated against! I will never step a foot into that place again and I would definitely do not recommend this place as they treat you like your money is not good! read more

Came here around 6pm on Friday night 10/7 and it wasn't busy but there were a good amount of people inside. We waited about 10-20 minutes at the bar before we were acknowledged by a female bartender. She said one moment, and we waited another 10 minutes and saw that she left. A male bartender came up to us and apologized on her behalf saying she had left so we ordered our drinks again. He made the drinks pretty fast, apologized and gave us the drinks on the house. He was great! We were going to order another round of drinks but the guy was gone and the female bartender was back. Again, we waited over 10 minutes and she ignored us this time and kept talking to and serving the same 3 men at the other end of the bar. She was a very bad bartender and made us feel unwelcomed. So we ended up leaving without ordering another round of drinks. it wasn't busy at all, so no excuse. Not sure why they couldn't have both bartenders working at the same time. The guy was great but did not get his name. If it weren't for that the drinks were pretty good, ordered a Moscow mule and a margarita. Also, the female bartender (dont know name but she had long black hair) did not seem to know how to make drinks. She asked if we wanted vodka in the Moscow mule (what else???) and then used the wrong vodka in other drinks she made for other people. If you see her don't go! read more

Honestly, this is one of the best bars I've ever attended. When I first moved into the area, I was looking for a new place to unwind, which in LA with its myriad bars can be hard to find. When I first walked in, I was greeted with the friendliest service and a 'we don't know strangers here' attitude, and the ambience was laid back and chill. Adam, the owner, is one of the best guys I know and also slings some of the best cocktails you can get. Now that ambience has been established, let's talk about the drinks. Every single bartender here makes a great craft cocktail, and they are constantly innovating and coming up with new drinks. In terms of beer, they stock tons of local beers paired with others that you must try. There aren't any generic beers here, and they are all hand selected by people who know what they're tasting for our enjoyment. 100/10 recommend Gold Rail for unwinding, having birthdays, or just having a casual game of pool on Pool Monday where you can play free. This place is deeeeelightful! Went on Saturday to see if happy hour was EVERY night...and it IS, from 5 to 7 pm. I don't believe it was $5 for EVERYTHING anymore, but the prices were still way better than anywhere else, and Lauren was an attentive bartender who made good cocktails!
