I only go there for live music - specifically when Midnight Recovery plays. Pretty out of the way place even from the Fredonia area. Not a bed place. Food is ok, service is good, staff is friendly. Gets pretty crowded at times with a band in there, and the layout makes it like listening to a concert in a tunnel. They treat the bands well, which is a big positive in my opinion. If you're out that way, it's a good place to stop and take a breather. read more

So, third time here...first two tried to give them grace...service is awful...but they don't deserve it, they pretty much ignore you if you are not a "local".....you could die from dehydration before your drinks come after waiting 15+minutes to get your drink order taken...when you do get your drinks you better order your food...watched a large party play who ordered this...and then the kitchen asking for plates to come back because the order was wrong...it is a total cluster you know what! I have to wonder if they don't serve quickly to add to the bar tab? We are new to the area and wanted to explore. Who knew there would be a top notch tavern in this beautiful, rural town? Our beers were cold, cold (on an usually warm autumn day) and poured by the friendliest bar tenders. We may have been the only people in there who didn't farm, but we were accepted as part of the crew. It's the kind of place where everyone talks to each other. Politics never came up (whew). We felt very comfortable as a queer couple and so enjoyed the evening. We want to go back and try everything on the food menu, but we started with fish. I got the haddock. My spouse got the perch. Both beer battered. We decided mine was slightly better but wow, both were delicious and fried to perfection. Not greasy at all. Fresh fish. Crunchy goodness. read more

Heard about this place while visiting the area and thought we would try it out. Friendly staff, great fries(huge) and wings.

Tried to go two nights in a row at midnight, they said they were closing up both Friday and Saturday. Please change hours to midnight, not 2 as posted online. read more

I called there on a Friday night to order food they told me I had to wait an hour and a half until 7:00 p.m. to be able to order food because it was fish night. I called back at 7:00 p.m. they had nothing that was on the menu as far as meat. There were no ribs the woman told me that they don't usually have ribs so why is it on your menu. They did not have steak they did not have most of the items I was looking for. I had to go a half an hour out of my way to go somewhere else. read more

This was a tough review because of the drastic differences in what to review. The service was absolutely horrible - one step above nonexistent. We went for an early dinner on a Thursday evening. BUT the food was fresh and good. Very good menu selection. Location was not upscale or fancy at all but was clean. It was busy and the patrons all seemed pleased and comfortable. I would give this place another try because of the food but when I have time in case the level of service repeats. read more

The service was great and the food was filling it was cleanandwell set-up. The portions were good size and the price wasn't bad.

As a 60 year old native western New Yorker whose been chowing down on wings for the past 50+ years at every opportunity, I will say that the wings we ate here at Tavern On The Mall were absolutely perfect. Finally, a place worthy of a long drive in the country just for the wings. From that first very crispy bite I was enamored with these wings because they were cooked to perfection with a beautifully crisp skin that was holding in the moist & tender flesh of these wings. Also worthy of the drive was the friendly customer service extended to us by the young man who was working by himself behind the bar and in the kitchen. We were very happy to have arrived at a time when there were only 3 groups of people in the bar and the young man was not over whelmed with demanding customers. He & I were able to have a very pleasant discussion about the local area and how I remember this establishment doing business under the name of the Wilcox Hotel back in the 1970's. Us old folks like to reminisce because we've already made a lifetime's worth of memories, and this young man was courteous enough to listen to my ramblings. For Forestville, this might be 5 stars. For a lot of places, it's probably barely three. Don't come expecting haute cuisine and elegant decor, but if you're looking for friendly people, friendly service, and good times, head on over. Friday night fish fry, decent WNY grub (pizza, wings, etc), cheap bar food, and most importantly, a bar. I'm pretty sure this is the only place you can go to grab a drink in "downtown" Forestville. And I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for the place where I first did Alabama Slammers with my parents. read more

Stopped in for fish on a Friday. Great choice. It's a no frills bar/ restaurant in the center of a small town, but the food did not disappoint. Serval varieties of fish. My sister got the country fried on a recommendation and it didn't disappoint. Think county fried steak batter on haddock fish. Yum. They had serval different, original wing flavors as well. Nice and crispy. They offer 3, 50 cent wing nights a week. I know Sunday was one, can't remember the other 2. Stop in if you're passing through. read more

The " chicken finger & skins" entree was hilarious--it was just microwaved pre-made store-bought appetizers. I'm a big fan of chicken fingers, so I was rather dismayed that this was just the processed pseudo meat that comes frozen in bags. The portions were absurd for the full meal price, good size for toddlers though, if your car breaks down in the area. There is no way this place would stay in business if there were other options in the small town. It doesn't even have that folksy small town wood-paneling decor. It's like they gave up a long, long time ago. Very depressing. Especially the perpetual lottery numbers on the flat screen. There is dingy carpeting half-way up the walls (same carpet that's on the floor), and other than that it has no personality whatsoever. Didn't try the alcohol, but it seems like a place that would water the liquor down and the townspeople put up with it because, it's close, it's the only bar/restaurant, and the people probably know each other, so it's like a cultural institution. A real sucky one. We ate every bite, then rode over to a charbroil for a real dinner. I have no complaints about the waitress. read more
