WOW! We were looking for a restaurant in Sorrento to pack dinner to go and very glad I found this place. The pita bread and the meats and everything are made fresh and you could totally tell! They actually had the raw meat there which they were cooking around the grill based on whatever you ordered. So different from the classic restaurants that serve kebabs and such. Chicken and Mixed Beef + Chicken were both delicious. I especially appreciate that they use chicken breast and not the thigh! Even the beef was very flavorful. Got two plates and two pita wraps and everyone in the family enjoyed! Portion size of the everything was also quite big! And they actually loaded the pitas with the fillings! We literally tried this place because one of our friends was tired of eating pizza and pasta. The owner of the business went over the menu for us. It's pretty simple and straightforward. I ordered the chicken and beef open-faced (not in sandwich form). I can say that this place was great. The meat had flavor, and it was filling. The meat was not season well. It could not stand on its own. They slice raw meat from the spit (is that even allowed, I guess Italian safety codes are more relaxed) and then flat iron grill to cook the meat. But they don't add any seasoning. This why it's not 5 Stars for me. They cut the pita in have in half and toasted it, then build the sandwich on top. The toasting give the pita enough structure to hold the heavy ingredient... This is a small restaurant that's easy to pass by if you aren't looking for it. It's mostly counter seating on the inside and outdoor seating is only about two tables. The food is great. Delicious food! My husband and I came here on our first day in Sorrento. We were craving something different than pasta and pizza ( yes yes they are amazing but after eating it for days, a break was needed) The owner was very nice. He explained his menu and was happy to make suggestions. His menu is translated to 4 different languages which is pretty cool. The meat has amazing flavor, it is juicy and tender. The pita bread is toasted on the grill and it has the perfect crunch. I ordered the tradition kebab (meat, and chicken) with all veggies and tzatziki sauce, garlic mayo and spicy peppers for 7€. My husband ordered the same thing pretty much but without the garlic mayo and cheese instead 7€. Both were delicious but the sauces and meat have so much flavor so I think I rather no the cheese. We also had a side of fries 4€ and they were perfectly cooked. They are open between 5:00pm - 1:00 am. One advice is though that during summer times or high seasons, they are apparently super busy. If they run out of meat which doesn't happen right away but if they do, they would close the shop. Again they are open until 1:00 am but don't be upset if you happened to crave something very late and the shop is close. If you are in Sorrento and want to try something different, try this place. It's one refreshing change from all the pizza and pasta. It's kind of make your own pita sandwich place which I love. I love being able to customise my food per my taste. They offered falafel pita sandwich with 2 sauces of choices from what I remember to be from a variety of at least 10 sauces. Plus 4 veggies- lettuce, onion, tomatoes and cucumber. They create the sandwich loaded to ensure you're super full! They're quick in service and have place to sit. There are notes posted on the wall of Kebab Ciampa in at least a dozen different languages from visitors all around the world singing praises to this little kebab shop in Sorrento! The main draw is its two owners, who were super enthusiastic and welcoming to every guest. There were just two selections on the menu, and I tried both the kebab (a mix of chicken and beef carved from a vertical spit) and the falafel, which came on a plate along with a simple salad of lettuce, tomato, rucola, and onion. The meat kebabs were also cooked with caramelized onions, and the crispy falafels were freshly fried. But the best part of the plates was the selection of sauces! I tried the recommended tzatziki (a thin yogurt sauce) and the surprisingly spicy chili sauce, along with the garlic sauce made with mayo. Each of these was so tasty and went nicely with all the different components of the plates. Overall, though this wasn't the best Mediterranean street food I've had, the friendly service and the unexpectedness of this restaurant sitting amongst endless selections of pizza and pasta made this a memorable destination! read more

Nice small shop for a kebab right in the busy area of Sorrento. You can get the kebab either in a pita (hot and crunchy) or as a salad. There is chicken, lamb or mixed. There is a list of sauces we tried chili, garlic and the yogurt sauce. All were good and the chili adds a nice spice to the dish. The good: hard-working brothers open a kebab shop, rather unique in this southern Italian town filled with what seems like hundreds of Italian restaurants. It provides a change of pace from the pasta parade. One of the brothers is apparently in charge of cooking and the other in charge of public relations. The latter was very friendly to us and essentially took our order. The walls are covered with photos of people who have visited from all over the world and notes from previous happy customers, including a photo of Rick Steves. The ingredients used in the food seemed fresh. The not so good:There was a somewhat older lady present as well and either she did not like us or did not understand us. We asked her to add french fries to our order, but it didn't happen. The seating is pretty limited. It was warmer inside The tight space than we would've liked. Maybe we were expecting something different, like chunks of beef on a stick, which usually are the kebabs we have had in the past. We also thought maybe this would resemble a Gyros sandwich, but the classic pita sandwich we ordered was completely different. We came here late in the evening after having had a very disappointing experience at a pizzeria nearby. This place was a godsend. The two men running the restaurant were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the food was really fresh and delicious! Excellent excellent and amazing! We were staying in sorrento for 5 days and we had this twice in our stay! The food is fresh and amazing! Honestly I haven't had this amazing doner kabab anywhere else! we had 2 chicken and garlic and 2 chicken and hot chili and they were out of the world. Other doner kabob's you get is usually pita bread with chicken and veggies and then some sauces. What makes this different is that the chicken is grilled fresh and then the pita is actually toasted giving it a toasty sandwich like taste and it locks in all veggies and sauces! Make sure to try it! Kinda weird to say but when in sorrento Italy, make sure to try these kebabs first before the lemoncello or gelato or the Italian food! read more

My hubby and I are both Middle Eastern so we were a little hesitant to try shawarma in Italy but let me tell you....this was the BEST shawarma I've ever had.
