Tavola Italian restaurant was very welcoming upon entering. The hostess greeted us with genuine warmth and guided us to a table even though we didn't have a reservation on a busy Thursday evening with the Mauldin Farmer's Market in full swing. The indoor acoustics allowed for easy conversation and the background music complements the room. Tavola is quickly becoming one of our favorites. We love the setting and the food. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and beyond helpful guiding us to the Fruitti di Mare appetizer which was amazing..and the cocktails were the best I have had in a very long time anywhere. Being a bourbon fan I couldn't resist trying the Molly's Moda Antica and my wife had a Mediterranean Mule. We had a fabulous dinner. I tried the Branzino seafood entree which I had never heard of, but it was delicious. My wife had the Pappardelle pasta. Next visit I think we'll try for an outside balcony table or enjoy the peaceful ambiance of the open air bar seating. Good service, nice setting and an interesting menu with great food! read more

Not exactly la dolce vita. Thankfully, carbs save the day. Everything was house made. The handmade pasta was made with flour flown in from Italy! I had the casarecce which had light and well-balanced bacon and lemon flavors. My date had the the "whole" branzino, which despite described as "whole" came already de-boned and without the head. It was crispy, golden, and serving main character energy with its unique presentation. Frutti di mare was... there. I didn't think the flavors were anything to write home from Italy about. Though, the presentation was impeccable, I must admit. Whitney, our server, deserves a standing ovation! She was part waitress, part Italian food narrator, and made every dish sound like it had a backstory which honestly just elevates the whole experience. We visited last night and had Henry as our server. We've had Tavola on our list for a while and it did not disappoint! We started with the focaccia, meatballs, and autumn vegetable panzanella. The focaccia is a must try! For entrees we got the Campanelle with pork ragu, spaghetti carbonara, and potato gnocchi. The kids enjoyed the kids' pizza and a marinara pasta. We finished with tiramisu to share. Everything was excellent. Bridgeway Station is beautiful and the decor in Tavola is beautiful! We will definitely be back soon with more family. read more

Went to Bridgeway Station for some drink and the area was awesome! There are a lot of different areas to get drinks, watch sports and get food. The Tavola staff was so friendly and answered all of our questions. We started with the Focaccia, and it came with three different spreads. Our favorite was the Truffle Honey Butter, and the Tomato Gremolata which had a strong and unique flavor. The Campanelle dish was fantastic and I loved the handmade pasta. It is hard to beat the Old World setting and feel one gets from Bridgeway Station in Mauldin. The $150 million, mixed-use development features European-inspired architecture and provides the feel of a new "town center" having upscale apartments, retail shops, restaurants, a food hall, outdoor seating venue with a theater sized big screen and also co-working spaces, all connected to the Swamp Rabbit Trail via a pedestrian bridge. It is designed to offer the feel of a Medieval village, and they have done a good job. It is new, having opened in April 2024. Tavola is the newer Table 301 concept, taking advantage of the "feel" by creating an ambiance of an Italian countryside restaurant in both architecture, decor and cuisine. We made an Open Table reservation for four on a 6:30PM dinner for a Friday. In our area, this is prime time dinner-time, so reservations are recommended. We had been wanting to try Tavola since we often eat directly across the street at Rotie by Stella and watch the traffic up and down the stairs to reach the second floor restaurant. They also have an elevator. That was one reason. The second reason is their strong reputation for having multiple gluten free options and one in our party prefers that option. Staff, front of the house, wait staff and even two personal GM visits demonstrate their excellent service. The GM even came to confirm all the gluten free choices. At this point, Tavola is checking all the boxes. The downfall was in dish execution and probably a poor choice of gluten free meal on our diner's part. That evening's special was a gnocchi dish. They believed it could be made gluten free, but when consulting the chef, the answer was doubtful. At this point, the best option would be to return to our table and suggest they were switching pasta's in the dish or to choose a different option. Instead, they switched the pasta to a gluten free fusilli pasta in the tomato sauce with three dollops of ricotta cheese on top. It was a very sad looking dish. Especially when compared to the whole Branzino (see picture) that I had ordered or the tomato cavatelli my wife had ordered (see picture). There is a popular culinary phrase, "the meal begins by eating with your eyes," meaning that the visual appeal of food is a crucial part of the dining experience. Even before a single bite is taken, a beautifully arranged dish sets a positive expectation of the taste, texture and deliciousness expected. Or it should. But this was like bringing out a bowl of Spaghettio's - the ones without any meatballs, just pasta and tomato sauce. It really looked that sad. Our other dining guest ordered the chicken Parmesan, which was the size of the dinner plate with an accompanying side of pasta Alfredo. Even the GM came by and admitted that Chef or wait staff should have offered a change of entree' before substituting the pasta, since it fundamentally is a different dish. My branzino was good, a few bones, a little underseasoned, but beautiful presentation. My wife enjoyed her cavatelli. The chicken Parm was a success. Dessert of tiramisu was good, with a somewhat deconstructed presentation. As mentioned, service was very good as one expected. A couple of glasses of wine each, two entree's one dessert set me back, with 20% tip at $200, so it can get expensive, especially if you have wine or cocktails. We will be back. We especially were advised to try and reserve a patio table as best seat in the house. My friend acknowledges his part in the culinary mistake and should have ordered a protein (like the grilled pork chop). read more

The restaurant was extremely busy this evening as there was a special menu on offer 3 courses for $40 We enjoyed our food but twice our utensils were not given for the food. We were celebrating an Anniversary and were offered a complimentary glass of Champagne. We didn't need it but it was a nice thought. I noticed other tables celebrating birthdays were given a mini cupcake with a candle. The room was very warm due to the fact there is a bar to the outside of the restaurant. Tavola is a great place to get some Italian in the area, and worth the price for sure. All three of us got different pasta dishes (which they often rotate through to keep things fresh), and each was great. The portion size seems small at first, but it's just about exactly one serving (or two for those who don't eat much). You won't be stuffed, but neither will you be hungry. The drinks are great as well; sticking with a mocktail was a great idea as it was a bit cheaper and didn't lose a hair of flavor. For wine, the server also did a good job of matching the dish to the wine. While the dining room is a bit loud, it also gives great views of the rest of Bridgeway Station (and eventually the soccer stadium). read more

Well, this place gets an A+ for ambiance. Nestled inside the huge castle like shopping plaza, it resides on the second floor. They were packed for a Saturday night at 8PMish, so we sat at the bar. I guess reservations are preferred here. We seemed to not be a welcome guest for the bartender when we pulled up. I gauged the atmosphere with a dad joke and it didn't land. As for the Italian meal, it was decent. The chicken parmigiana (shaped like a heart), was tasty and had a spicy sauce on the plate to accompany it. My pomodoro was ok. The main bummer here was she forgot our wine. It was their Hopkins Ranch Sauvignon Blanc. We got the bottle later in the meal and didn't finish because we had to drive. The cost of $65 for it was certainly misleading, as it wasn't a $65 Sauvignon Blanc IMO. I'm giving this place a 3.5, rounded up to a 4. Went to Tavola last night to celebrate our anniversary. This is our 4th time dining here and each time is better than the last. They truly spoiled us, starting with complimentary champagne and their meatball appetizer! Then we ordered their focaccia appetizer, the Chicken Parm for my husband and the Gnocchi for me (it's a new addition to the menu). We also enjoyed a few IPAs and their Italian Margaritas. Matt was our waiter for the 2nd or 3rd time and he took great care of us. We also got a visit from Ken, the GM (who also happens to be our neighbor). Super solid new Italian restaurant at bridgeway station! We really enjoyed the overall atmosphere and especially the outdoor patio - so dreamy in the evening with the lights of bridgeway all around. The standout was actually the winter panzanelle salad starter- one of my favorite salads I've had in a long time a big enough to share!! Also really enjoyed the arancini app with truffle honey. My pork ragu pasta was great. My husband also enjoyed his chicken Parmesan though he felt the side of noodles and red sauce it came with was a bit lackluster compared to the rest of the meal. We were a bit surprised that no fresh Parmesan or ground pepper was offered. We also tried the ice cream sandwich dessert - so unique and good! Went for restaurant week and a family celebration. The place was slammed. After waiting about 10 minutes to be seated past our reservation time, general manager came out with glasses of champagne for us and another couple who also were waiting, apologized for the wait, but said dinners were moving slowly tonight. Thought that was a class move. Came out to check on us one more time and we were seated within another 5 minutes. When we were seated, they brought us a delicious meatball appetizer, again apologizing for the wait. Class! Food from the RW menu was outstanding and the server was attentive and very friendly. She made us feel special. This is a bit of a haul for us to get here, but well worth it, even if it had been at full prices. A bit loud but manageable, but almost all restaurants are these days, and the ambience was very upscale and comfortable. Great job folks! For a fine dining restaurant, these folks ticked all the boxes - great service, great food, beautiful restaurant,, and reasonable prices. Only slightly less appealing was the tricky parking. Hubby and I were on our weekly Friday night date night and we tried Tavola for the first time. My husband came here earlier in the day to see what was on the menu (I have a gluten allergy and I don't eat a lot of meat). He mentioned my allergy and one of the owners said he would go out and buy gluten free pasta for us after my husband made dinner reservations. When we arrived for dinner...it felt like the entire staff knew of my allergy and they were SO accommodating!! My meal wasn't on the menu but they made me chicken, broccolini pasta Alfredo. We sat at the chefs bar and both chefs and the two owners checked in with us and made sure that we were satisfied with our food. My husband ordered the chicken Parmesan with mashed potatoes and he said it was the BEST he's had!! They have a private dining room that can accommodate a party of 16 -18. We will definitely be back. I highly recommend this location based off of the customer service and dishes I had. Service is prompt and friendly, it rained out of blue and while searing outside the patio umbrellas covered us perfectly and service was still impeccable. Let's start with the positives-- the staff and the service were great. Attentive without being smothering (shout out to Chloe), no notes there! As for the negatives... the food and the price point are not aligned. You're paying $26+ for entrees, but the pasta is giving boxed and the sauces all gave jarred. Which is crazy, because they claim that it's all scratch made. We started with the mozzarella. It was aggressively okay, it wasn't that hot, the breading wasn't super crispy and the sauce was lacking in depth. I've had better fried mozzarella at Olive Garden. For our entrees, I had the chicken parm with the garlic confit parmesan potatoes. The cheese on top of the parm had the saddest, most uneven melt I have ever seen. It looked like someone sprinkled some shredded grocery store mozzarella on top. It was dressed with a salsa verde and balsamic, which didn't add anything to the dish. It's a classic, maybe just focus on executing it well instead of trying to jazz it up? The potatoes were so bland it made me sad. While garlic confit is supposed to be subtle, I don't think it's supposed to be so subtle that you have to question if it's there? Also, terribly under salted. My partner ordered the spaghetti. He wasn't impressed either. His main note was that the sauce lacked complexity and flavor, and the pasta looked and tasted like grocery store boxed pasta. I tried a bite of his and wasn't impressed (the parm was the better of the two and this isn't saying much). Their kitchen is very tiny, so I do have to question the scratch made claims. Also, either wine pours have shrank or we got ripped off because there's no way there was anything close to five ounces in those glasses. And at $17/glass for a very mid Super Tuscan it just added to the disappointment. My last note is regarding the ambiance-- it's very loud in there. It has the vibe that it's trying to be an upscale restaurants, but there are multiple tvs by the bar and they're all playing sports (not exactly a mood/ambiance booster) and music. It's a very tight space and they cram every square inch with as many tables as possible. Ours was right up against a pillar, wedged in between two other tables and the POS where the wait staff put in orders. In short-- You know I really did not enjoy it if the phone didn't eat first. If you want fine dining, this is NOT the place (go to Scoundrel). If you want good Italian food, this is MOST DEFINITELY NOT the place. Jianna remains undefeated, I fear. read more

Noise level was a bit high, but that was to be expected with a party of 20, or so next to us on a Tuesday night. But that's where my objection begins. When this group left, an employee wearing a green shirt began to separate the tables that had been pushed together. He did so in a most noisy manner, even going so far as to drop one table on its edge with a loud bang and then turning it over onto its top. Next he took out a wrench and began tightening the nut on the base -- all this while four of us, having our diners, sat next to him. I might expect this at a Waffle House, but a purported "fine restaurant" should perform its dining room maintenance after hours. read more

The service was excellent as the waiter was obviously very knowledgeable about the menu and was very patient with us as we had quite a few questions. As the food goes, I had the Pappardelle as my main course and it was probably the best pasta dish I've had outside of Italy! Service and food was excellent, the only negative was the noise. This is an open concept restaurant, dining, the bar, the kitchen, everything in the same room so there is a lot going on. Good energy, but it can be a bit noisy to the point where you can't hear the person sitting across the table from you. We will visit again though. read more
