Alavita is one of the more reliable Italian spots in downtown Boise, and overall it delivers a really enjoyable dining experience. The highlight here is definitely the fresh, house-made pasta--it's clear they put a lot of care into it. Dishes are generally well-executed with good flavor, and you can taste the quality of the ingredients. The menu is fairly focused, which helps keep things consistent, though a few dishes can feel slightly hot or miss The atmosphere is cozy and lively, making it a great spot for date night or a nice dinner out. Service is usually friendly and knowledgeable, with staff who can guide you through the menu and wine list. Timing can slow down during peak hours, but nothing too frustrating. Prices are on the higher side for Boise, but the overall quality and experience mostly justify it--it feels like a place you go to enjoy a proper sit-down meal rather than a quick bite. Overall, Great pasta, solid atmosphere, and definitely worth visiting if you're craving Italian in Boise.

Àlavita was recommended via social media, and it definitely lived up to the hype. It was one of the best meals we've had in a long time. The artichoke hearts were AMAZING, along with the rest of our dinner. If we ever find ourselves in Boise again, we will be back!

A great culinary experience. The place is cozy warm and quite friendly. The wine and the food and their services was above and beyond. The pasta is made daily and absolutely cooked perfectly. And you must finish the meal with Lemonchello Tiramisu. It's out of this world.

ALAVITA is a romantic Italian restaurant downtown Boise. They are known for their hand made pasta which is exquisite. Their ingredients are always fresh and seasonal. The ambiance is intimate and perfect for date night

I was truly impressed with Alavita. You can tell that their food is made from scratch with delicious local ingredients. The interior space is smaller than I expected but it provides such a cozy feel to the restaurant. We started off with the chefs charcuterie board and the focaccia. When I first saw that there was a coffee aioli on the board I immediately thought I wouldn't like it but boy was I wrong. It had the best flavor and was delicious spread on some bread. They had a great assortment of meats, cheeses, and spreads. For my entree I got the tagliatelle. It was a classic pasta bolognese and exceeded my expectations. Of course to round off the night we had to finish with the limoncello tiramisu. We had the best service and overall the best experience. We will be back!

Came here to celebrate a special occasion while in Boise. Quaint little spot with old school charm. Enjoyed the welcoming and friendly service from the moment we stepped into the restaurant. We started with the burrata and the chef's crudo. Plenty to share and the yellowtail was fresh. I thoroughly enjoyed the rigatoni dish - an amalgamation of flavors that one might question but turned out to be rich and delicious. Additionally, we ordered the tiger prawns which were perfectly cooked and juicy. They have a nice cocktail and wine menu to pair.

I took my wife to Alavita for her birthday dinner two weeks ago. We made a reservation for a Tuesday which was good as it filled up fast. They put us at a small table that was up against two walls in the front corner. Not necessarily comfortable as you couldn't slide your chair back. The waiter was basically the bartender, so you can imagine service was painfully slow. We started with a couple cocktails that were good but very expensive. I then switched to beer(Peroni). We had meatballs and a burrata appetizers. Both were good. For dinner, my wife had carbonara and I had rigatoni with braised short rib. We debated over whether the carbonara was actually carbonara. It did not taste like it nor did it have any bacon. The noodles were quite overcooked as well. The rigatoni was good though. For dessert they did give my wife a birthday piece of limoncello tiramisu with a candle, so a nice touch. I wouldn't say we had a spectacular time, but we may give it another try with different entrees. I'd recommend they add a waitress or waiter and let the bartender deal with only the bar. Also do something about the cramped seating in the corner.

I travel to Boise on business several times a year, and do my best to get out and try a new restaurant when I can. Do not skip this spot. I sat at the bar and had a couple glasses of wine, the seasonal beet salad, rigatoni, capped off with an espresso and tiramisu. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere is cozy and small. Chefs kiss y'all!

If I lived here, this would be my spot. I would come here at least weekly to experience their charming atmosphere and lovely staff, happy to guide you through their Italian wines and (gluten free if desired) pastas. I almost cried when the pasta arrived and the taste didn't disappoint.

This is our first time in Boise and our waitress at brunch actually recommended Àlavita for us to try for dinner. We were not disappointed! We came around 8:15pm on a Friday night without a reservation and did not have to wait for a table. This restaurant is downtown and walking distance from a lot of other great shops and bars. They have a nice patio outside with a beautiful chandelier hanging above it. The interior is on the smaller side but feels larger than it is because of the high ceilings. It has an elegant and cozy vibe with dim lighting, red and black themed decor, and an overall quieter atmosphere. We each started with a glass of wine, a Sauv Blanc and a Chianti. We went with the burrata for an appetizer, it was a good serving size for two people! Light and spreadable cheese on the inside, served with plenty of bread. I've heard that this place is known for their pastas which are made fresh in house daily, so we had to try some! I went with the black ravioli and my husband got the rigatoni with braised short rib. Both were excellent! The ravioli had a nice lemon cream sauce. The braised short rib in the rigatoni was so tender and added the perfect flavor to the pasta sauce. Serving sizes were decent for a restaurant like this. Service was good, our waitress came by to check on us and refill our drinks several times. Nothing negative to say about this experience, thank you for a great first dinner in Boise!

    Is it noisy on Friday?

Yes. It's noisy most of the time because it's packed most of the time. Probably not the best choice for quiet, romantic, reflective, but certainly the place to be for terrific, inventive food and a fun, lively atmosphere.

The food was so good that we completely forgot to take pictures before digging in, which honestly says everything. We started with the Caesar salad, which was solid, but the stars of the meal were the entrées. My husband ordered the shrimp Alfredo, and I had the Rosemary Chicken Formaggio. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, flavorful, and homemade. Somehow, it was even better the next day as leftovers. My husband's favorite part of the meal was actually the rosemary focaccia loaf they bring out with oil and vinegar. Simple, but absolutely delicious. If you're visiting Boise and looking for great Italian food, Luciano's is absolutely worth the stop. We'd happily come back the next time we're in town.

We arrived 5 minutes early and were seated right away which was nice. Our server was very sweet and attentive but that's about all the good things we can offer for the experience. The tables were cramped in the space, the noise inside was so loud and the atmosphere was uncomfortable. We overheard the conversations of diners two tables away from us and didn't feel like we could really talk with each other due to that. We ordered cocktails, focaccia, entrees and dessert. The focaccia was ok but not memorable and our drinks took awhile to arrive. When they did, they were ok but not great (too much ice, almost tasteless). Our entrees arrived and I was surprised to receive only 6 clams with my fettuccini. Seemed a bit sparse for the upcharge. I think shrimp would have been a better match or mussels and more of them. (From the photos I see online, the dish should come with more clams). The pasta was fresh but bland and unexciting. My partner had the bucatini carbonara and said it was similarly bland and the meat was overcooked to the point he didn't even finish it. We were excited for the tiramisu as well since it's a dish we love. What we received was very lackluster, near tasteless and scant in both presentation and portion. We honestly feel that TJs frozen tiramisu is better than the one we had that night. Overall, we expected much more. It wasn't terrible but truly disappointing. We won't be back as there are many better options in Boise for foodies to enjoy.

That is a good thing for the new young owners who bought this business. Since there are enough of us who had all around miserable experiences with the previous owners and said "never again", this comment is for others know that now is the time to come back. The ownership transition seems to have happened sometime after November of last year. If you check the website you'll see the "about" part of it is still about Vincenzo. I recommend the new owners change that to indicate this young couple is now at the helm. The menu, largely pasta, is about the same and with price points running from roughly $23 to $27 for them. Antipasti (cold and hot) start at about $13 for a salad to $23 for fried calamari and shrimp. The owner mentions that they plan to put the pizza oven in the space (see my long ago taken photo) to work as a pizza oven. (To now in the old ownership days it was used to finish bread.) Additions are also planned for for the menu. You will still need a reservation. The access problems from before are the same now. But the entire vibe of the place under the new ownership clearly including a skilled chef, will refresh your appetite to eat at this trattoria if it was ruined by the previous owners.

A reservation was made and we made our way in Saturday to celebrate. My husband and I were late arriving cause of work. But my family and friends got drinks and apps started. I wasn't expecting them to wait but I'm happy that they did! The drinks and apps kept them at bay till we arrived. The venue is stunning! I love the decor here. I have always been intrigued with European vintage decor and this restaurant is beautifully devoted decorated with this kind of esthetic. Such a romantic setting. The rich deep red wall. The ornate vintage frames. The plants. It's truly a beautiful set up. After my husband and I got settled in and drinks ordered, we got dinner placed. I got 2 orders of meatballs and my husband got the seafood pasta. While food was being worked on, everyone shared the bread and balsamic olive oil dip that was on the table. I heard the bread was good. I didn't get a chance to try it since it was communal. Our meals were slowly trickling out. My meatballs looked amazing! My husband's plate looked fabulous. You can see the shrimp, mussels, clams.... We all became quiet and started on our meals. My meatballs were huge! I have had meatballs at other restaurants and have been hungry still. The size of these babies let me know I was not going to have that issue. It was nicely covered in marinara. A hearty covering of parmesan. Everything about the meatballs were great! I have severe fomo so of course I had to try my husband's plate. I tried a couple of his penne. I was really thrown back at the heat of the sauce. I tried another bite and it was still spicy. The spice was something neither one of us were expecting. Before I say anything to our server, I did look over the menu to see if we missed anything in the description of the dish. No chili was listed. Nothing about it being garnished with chili flakes. From reading the menu, no spice was described in the dish. My husband has a real sensitive pallet so I asked the manager/owner why spice wasn't indicted in the menu. We wouldn't have ordered it if there was. The manager said they can remove the sauce and add new sauce that didn't have chili flakes in it. "It would make it less spicy." I was actually surprised he didn't suggest a new dish that didn't have heat in it. We were complaining about the heat and I honestly don't think replacing sauce that has spice in it with new sauce with spice will do anything.... but hey, we went with it. The second dish was made and dropped off. Unfortunately, the sauce was still spicy and my husband could barely eat it. He ate the seafood which was a few pieces of shrimp, clams, bay scallops, mussels and fish. This dish was drowned in this sauce so there was no way to eat the seafood with the sauce. This dish is 34 bucks and my husband could barely finish the seafood. Our server was kind and got me birthday dessert. The chocolate cake was killer good! It wasn't overly sweet. The frosting was rich in chocolate and the cake was super moist. I only took a couple bites and took the rest home. I was not going to leave this bad boy behind. We spent a little over 70 dollars on dinner to have my husband leave hungry. I came home and made him a second dinner. Nothing more disappointing than spending that much money just to come home and eat again. Money is tight for everyone so the fact that we chose to come here and spend our heard earned money to have my husband hungry just makes my heart sad. Overall, my meatballs and cake were good. Service was great. The venue is very pretty. But, having my husband eat a meal that was poorly described in the menu is just disappointing and having him leave husband is upsetting. I'm happy I got to try it out but I don't think we will be hitting up this joint again any time soon.

I know this food line up was going to be banger. One by one our food was coming out. Each appetizer was prettier than the plate before it. The shrimp cocktail was elegantly plated. The fried caprese was delicately garnished with herbs, tomatoes and a balsamic glaze. The oysters looked like they were just brought from the ocean fresh. Presentation was on point. I had to pass on the oysters. I don't eat oysters but I also can't have it cause of the new kidney. But from what I heard, the oysters were fantastic. I started off with the fried caprese, so good! The bread crumbs on the outside were savory and crunchy. The mozzarella in the middle was creamy and slightly melted. With the tomatoes, herbs and glaze in each bite...... wow. The ultimate flavor combo! Sweet, salty, cheesey and crunchy. To only have was hard cause I could have polished all 4! The shrimp cocktail was perfectly halved. Sprinkles of capers and microgreens added some earthy tones to the plate. I appreciate that they were sliced in half. It was easier to eat. I was able to cover each slice with some cocktail sauce. There was a nice heat from the horseradish that wasn't overwhelming. Enough to tickle your nose but not make you blackout. The fresh bread did make an appearance while we were eating. Better late than not getting fresh bread at all! The bread was out of the oven warm. I took a nice piece and slapped some butter on it. Fresh bread and butter will always be the best combo. I love the saltiness from the seasonings on top. It was soft, warm and crusty. I could have came here for a huge chunk of warm bread and left happy. That bread was killer. Cameron was great and got my friend, Laura a piece of limoncello cake for her birthday. Laura saved me a chunk of that slice of heaven. I was outside on a phone call when they started working on it. Grateful my friend was kind and shared her cake with me. Woooooooooww. We were making jokes about saying it would be our birthday every week so we can come in for limoncello cake. It was the perfect dessert to end our meal. I'm so happy we got to come in tonight. Food was chef's kiss. Cameron did a marvelous job taking care of us girls. The venue is absolutely gorgeous. And I loved how diverse the crowd was. The vibe was truly one of a kind unique. I look forward to coming back with my husband and having a romantic dinner here. I got the fun, light hearted happy hour experience. My next visit will most definitely be a romantic dinner with my husband kind of visit. I can't wait!

Just love this place. The whole vibe inside is amazing with all the black and red. Reminds me of a…read moreclassic dinner club. Just needs a band with a crooner in the corner ;-) Service is always on point sitting at the bar, in a booth or at a table. Menu has a lot of choices and not just meat. I particularly enjoy the Wedge salad and seafood dishes. Love the open kitchen in the main dinning area. They have an excellent Happy Hour as well. Check them out!
