I dont know where to start with Tax Plus and Tony. I was 8 years behind (omg) no excuse just bad advise. He helped me stop a garnishment and put me back on track in less than a few days. One star because you can't give a zero. Fact: YOU are contradicting yourself, I was there last in 2010. (lie #1) Fact: You made an error on my parent's tax return and continue to blame me. who filled out paperwork in your office? You or me? (lie #2) Fact: You have NO legal right to, "inquire, solicit, access or view" me and/or my family's tax records. Documents over 3 years old should be DESTROYED! (unethical, probably illegal as well). Fact: I have repeatedly asked you to STOP ALL communication with me and my family. STOP wasting my time. Next resort is a restraining order for harassment. Fact: "we all knew it would take time". Jerk! Maybe you should taken one of my dozens of calls, busy? I was a paying customer too. Fact: Discount prices? What a joke. Not until you realized what a horrific nightmare of dealing with the IRS did you call my dad and blame me for your ineptitude. (classy) Fact: I asked you about my deceased sister's return. I was going to a CPA for few years and this year he decided to do taxes in a different way. Drop it off and he will do it. For me I like to sit with the CPA and discuss my taxes and next year options. I checked Yelp review and Tax Plus had high marks. WOW how true it is. I went there as a walk in today and I was helped right away by the staff. Very professional and friendly. I asked for a CPA and Laura took care of me. What an amazing lady. She took so much time with me as it was my first time with her. She explained everything did my taxes, answered all my questions, helped me pay estimated tax for next year. I can't say enough of her how kind and pleasant she is to work with. Tax plus and Laura got my business for as long as I need to do taxes and for as long as they are doing taxes. After just getting off the phone with Laura, I don't know how Tax Plus could be rated this high. First, I called to get a quote on my taxes. I have multiple w-2's and 1099's after going through a rough year of being unemployed and looking for steady work. After answering a few questions, she told me it would be $280.00. This price seems a bit high for someone who does not own property, has no other tax information to fill in except employment! I went on to ask if she knew of any better options for tax prep for someone in my situation, she had nothing. Basically, I am irritated because a tax professional should be able of referring me to someone who can help me with my taxes if they are incapable. She went on to end the conversation with, "you should try Turbo Tax." This was more than insulting. Thanks for nothing Turbo Tax! read more

Sadly I wasn't able to go to Tony this year. He has been my "tax guy" for many many years. I was always happy to send him new clients ect. This year when I called I spoke to the office manager, she must have been very busy because she really wasn't interested in me setting up a appointment. She seemed rushed. When I asked her if it would be the same cost as last year, she scoffed a bit and said a totally different price and that I must have had a new client discount last year? I've been going there for years so not sure what that is. Boldly after I realized it was out of my pay range I heard her say sooooooooo am I setting an appointment for you or not? Eeek. I know I would owe some $ and on top of the new cost I would have to pass. I understand businesses need to charge more each year that's the way of the walk. Zero. Zero stars (but it wouldn't take zero stars). Such absolutely horrible service. My husband and I, his mother, his sister have all gone to Tony at Tax Plus for years. Then my mother-in-law died. Gave Tony her tax info for 2013. Tony put it on his computer but he never finished it. Met with him for her 2014 taxes. He told me "she should be ok with late 2013 taxes because she's getting money back, hopefully no penalties."--offered no excuse WHY he never finished 2013. Kept calling his office to finalize 2013 and 2014 taxes. Sherron was full of excuses "he's out to lunch" "he's with a client" "he's off on Fridays" (my personal favorite!). OK just have him call me. Laura called -- telling me that she'd like us to sign something to check with the IRS to make sure we have everything; I told her that we signed that A YEAR AGO FOR TONY--CHECK WITH HIM! After repeated calls, Sherron said that Tony promised my late mother-in-laws taxes would be finished "on Friday". I reminded her that Tony didn't work on Fridays, but she assured me that he would be there. Three weeks later, no taxes done, I told her to send us our file. Anyone needing your taxes to actually get done--don't hold your breath. read more

The Best of The Best !!! I worried for many years about self generated issues with the IRS as I've been self employed for decades. My friends in similar situations added to my worry with their tails of "getting right" with the IRS. When I was finally able to get strait with them I was lucky enough to find Tony Navarro at Tax Plus LA. I explained my lengthy past to Tony and he expertly went back 35 years to make sure I was not liable for any lingering daggers in my past. On top of that Tony got me totally up to date with the corporate evil (IRS) for a fraction of what I thought I would owe. Tax Plus is a great company. The owner met with me personally the very first time I went in as I had some back taxes to be filed. He didn't make me feel embarrassed or odd and worked out a payment plan with me, which was something he definitely didn't have to do. Sharran the receptionist/office manager is also great. She always has a smile in her voice when you get her on the phone and is extremely helpful. My top compliments go to Katheryn Crespin. She rocks. She made everything simple and easy and I was totally confident that my taxes and I were in good hands. I wish I had found this place years ago when I always had anxiety when it was tax season. He spent an hour with us explaining in detail all the things with should know and he gave us great advice on financial aspect of our company. Tax time. Ugh. But it helps to have a preparer that's upbeat, friendly, attentive, detail oriented and knows her stuff. That's Laura at Tax Plus. I had a complicated problem last year, my previous tax preparer had made some serious errors and the IRS claimed I owed them 11 thousand dollars! Laura got into it, went over every single number, figured out the myriad of mistakes, refiled, and it turned out the IRS owed ME money! The shop itself is unpretentious, relaxed and well run. You don't have to feel intimidated or self conscious. The charges seemed modest to me (given how much the last guy charged me). Tony Navarro is a stand up guy. I needed help very quickly and just like that Tony took my "case" based upon info that I provided to him by phone. First impression from speaking with him was that he was a good, kind guy. I found him via Yelp (thank you Yelp). On Yelp, Tony has numerous positive reviews and even though he was across town from me, I decided to call. With a wage garnishment only days away, I quickly needed clarity on a matter and he was willing to research it. Right away, his office sent me the forms that I needed for Tony to act on my behalf with the FTB. A day later, he had an answer for me. Turns out there was not much that could be done. I asked him how much I owed him for his time and he said nothing. Nothing? Wow! Who does that? Tony Navarro does that. I think he felt bad that he couldn't help me more, and, of course, this was by no means his fault. All Tony asked of me is to remember him should I need any future tax assistance and if I know of others needing tax assistance, to refer them. You can bet that I will. Hands down, he's got my future business and any referrals.
