I ordered the 8 inch Tay's: Steak, bell peppers, onions, & cheese. You order at the counter and it's brought to your table. I sat inside, but there are patio tables ( outside ) as well. I always start with how the food is served before I add anything. After 2 bites ( which were good ) I drizzled a half laddle of Au Jus over the sandwich. The au jus elevated the flavor and it was Fantastic. There is a sauce table with lots of options for in house dinners and take out. I assume it's complementary as i just helped myself. If you want Tays fries, don't get them here! I asked for fresh cooked fries , the girl told me they are always cooked fresh! I asked for fresh because I seen fries already cooked sitting in a fryer basket above the fryer. The fries came out hot and soggy because they recooked them. Why? Why not cook them fresh to order??? For 5.50 an order I should have had a lot more fries than we did. When we go to Tays burgers we get twice the amount. No more eating fries from Tays cheesesteak . I put this place on my list about 18 months ago and finally got there. I have been to Tay's Burger Shack a few times, so I know that Tay is very familiar with what it takes to be excellent. Tay's Cheesesteak solidified that. This is the best cheesesteak I've had outside of Philly. It's better than Pat's or Geno's. The only one that beats it is Dalessandro's in Philly. Seriously legit steak. I LOVE that Tay is committed to grass fed beef! That's all we buy at home. Amoroso's bread is what all the greats use. If you go somewhere for a Philly and they don't use Amoroso's bread, leave. Go to a real joint. Like Tay's. Wow!! What a great treasure for KC! The staff is very cool, kind and helpful. They gave me time to make my way through the menu and ask questions. Diners are encouraged to ask for exactly what they want on their sandwich, even if it's not listed. I love the pepperoncini sauce, which I've never seen anywhere else. What a nice balance for the peppery meat and the salty cheese. My sandwich was made after I ordered it and served so hot I had to wait 2-3 minutes before I could pick it up and another couple minutes before I got a real decent bite. Love that. Now, I'm no Rockefeller but $16 per meal for this quality seems fine to me. A McDonald's Quarter Pounder meal is $10 now and is engineered out the wazoo.
