The workers were very unfriendly. Told myself I wouldn't go back whether the donuts were delicious or not. The donuts were amazing! The place was really cute. So I thought about going back or trying their other location in Portsmouth (I was on vacation) but I didn't. Hopefully they'll work on customer service. The owner is completely awesome, I hope she will expand even more!! Was so happy to see the Portsmouth location open!! Both are very clean and well-set up/decorated venues! REALLY well done!! While doing a Marketplace pick up, we saw Lovebirds Donuts and thought we stop by before our next pick up. Easy to access from the road and plenty of parking. Plenty of seating for a couple or more. Cute space and the donuts present well. A non-dairy option. Includes coffee. No cream. :-) They are a hearty donut with creative names and appearance. 5 stars because i love cakey donuts!! lol These reminded my of the Holy Donuts in Portland although they are not exactly the same of course. (I'll leave the comparison to you my dearest reader). We came in around 9:30am on a sunday and there were already early birds there (not just lovebirds ha!). I got their chocolate coconut and that would be my favorite! nice chocolate dough and a good balance of shredded coconut coating. The Apple cider was good too and surprising the original! Im never an "original" donut fan but the hubster wanted to try. It was soft but had some crisp to it and wasnt so bland so I appreciated that. Staff who took our order was nice and pleasant which made for a good day. Inside was spacious too and there was good parking space. We ordered 2 donuts, 1 fritter, and 1 monkey bun. We found the cashier to be short and it was clear she didn't want to be there. The donuts were ok, a bit chewy but that is to be expected with brioche style donuts. The monkey bun was ok but again chewy and a bit too much cinnamon. We made a cute stop on our roadtrip to this donut location and were very surprised and delighted to our sweet treats. We got a variety including Lavender Lemon, Cinnamon, cookie dough, blueberry fritter, and chocolate dipped brioche. They were all delicious but my favorite was the simple chocolates dipped brioche because it was so fluffy, and not too sweet. When a shop can execute a simple donut, they're good~ The gold and green latte were good but a tad too sweet and wish I got a smaller cup portion. Location smelled like sweets right outside the door with lots of bees around which was fitting for a sweet pastry shop. The staff was kind and prepared my latte when I arrived which was great because we arrived late for our pick up. I'm glad my latte wasn't melted sitting on the counter waiting for me to pick up. I love donut shops. I love seeing the flavors they offer and then trying to chase the flavor of best donuts. Lovebirds was super cute! Felt a little out of place in it's location. Felt very commercial for a small little town in Maine not near the real tourist area. Modern, lite and vibrant colors inside. I liked that when you first walk in there are all the donuts displayed in see through boxes to help you place your order but I can share it would be easier if that was toward the register. Also, they did not have it mapped out correctly that morning as I ordered a donut and as surprised when I opened the box it wasn't the donut in it's place on display in the store. It was in fact the correct flavor. Easy to order. Prices were comparable to other shops like this. The donuts: Glazed- good size, a full coat of glaze but I found it a little too sweet and would prefer it a little softer Sweet Potato marshmallow- harder than I would like, frosting broke off in hard pieces and the flavor was just not my jam Homie- your basic strawberry donut. Good flavor, good amount of frosting. This was the familys favorite Maple Puff- BOOM! Maple explosion in your mouth but way too sweet for my liking. I have been following Lovebirds social media for quite sometime as this has been a spot I've been wanting to try. They have a good amount of space inside and the staff were super welcoming. They had some great artwork on the walls featuring birds and sharks! Even though I'm not vegan I can appreciate a place so dedicated to making their food available to those with allergy/dietary restrictions! Also how could we pass up a stop here with the name being Lovebirds and this trip being my wife and my mini-moon after our wedding! Perfect name to match! I also appreciate their flavors changing frequently to have lots of seasonal flavors. We ended up deciding to split an apple fritter and we were impressed. A little dense but exceptional flavor! I had an appointment in the area this morning and got to finally try out Lovebirds. I love that they're vegan and GF, perfect for sharing with all the friends. Their stock was low due to the oncoming storm, but I was able to try the key lime donut. I was a little sad to devour it and find out it wasn't a filled donut, but the key lime frosting was still on point, and the brioche was wonderfully fluffy. They come out with special weekend flavors, including a creme brulee donut in early February. I unfortunately was out of town and missed out on that one but hopefully it will return soon so I can try it out! read more

A tasty stop, but definitely an Early Bird's game On our last two trips back to Connecticut from Ogunquit, my wife and I decided to stop at this donut shop, and while we enjoyed our visits, we're not sure if we'll make it a regular stop in the future. The donuts we tried--raspberry coconut, maple, and glazed brioche--were all quite tasty, with fresh flavors and a nice doughy-feel. However, we've found that by 11:00 AM, many of the donuts are already sold out, which was a bit disappointing, especially since it happened on both visits. My wife's iced coffee with cold foam had a good flavor, but the foam itself was more of a thin layer than the generous topping she was hoping for. All in all, while we appreciated the quality of what we did get, the limited selection later in the morning and the small issues with the coffee make us uncertain about whether we'll stop by again. read more

This bird LOVES Lovebirds! We came here in the spring of 2022 because we were participating in Portland Food Fights and had donut coupons. We waited in line...outside... for 30 minutes and it was worth the wait!! I was so stressed that they might sell out because of everything I have seen in their IG Posts. Good news, is that while that had run out of "specialty" donuts, they still had plenty of other options....delicious options. The vegan chocolate donut was stupid good...I mean... It was a total sugar rush, but wow so rich and delicious. Try all of the flavors they have to offer. The location was easy to find and there was plenty of parking. There is a small cafe style area to sit and enjoy donuts and beverages if that's your thing too. I choose to go home and eat my dozens of donuts without eyes judging me outside of my family. LOL The staff - fast, efficient, I don't remember much more than the interaction because under the pressure, I still remember staring at the menu board as they stared at me waiting for me to order. Lovebirds remains the best donut option in Southern Maine, better for me than well known options like Holy Donut and Congdon's. Tons of variety and high quality ingredients. Everyone from age 2 to 77 in my group loved their donuts. My constructive feedback: the morning of I was planning on placing an order. At 815am online ordering worked. At 845 it said no more orders were being accepted and you couldn't call on the phone either. I get at some point they have to just sell what they have but they should have a defined cutoff time for orders so people know. Also, the peach donut was very good but almost too sweet with the vanilla frosting and that sweetness somewhat reduced the enjoyment of the delicious peach jelly. read more

Best gluten free vegan donuts I've had! Love their specialty drinks and that it's ALL VEGAN! I'm always a brioche donut over cake donut fan but the gluten free cake donuts here were so good I actually really recommend the gf cake donuts! I went to the location in Portsmouth NH and it was a pleasant experience! It was very quiet for a Saturday morning. I had a coffee with coconut and almond milk - it was delicious. Even though I'd been to the Kittery outlets a thousand times, I actually came across this place by accident one day when I was looking for a gas station. My first thought was that maybe they were closed because there was absolutely no line, much unlike the national donut chain down the street (you know the one I'm talking about). My second thought was that with a name like Lovebirds, the donuts just have to be good. I head inside and notice how well the place is set up. There's a display that showcases the current offerings which made it easy to decide. I went with the rum ball (yep, that's an actual donut) a chocolate glazed, and a macchiato. In hindsight, I probably should have just gotten one donut but everything looked so amazing that it was tough choose. The donuts are dense and incredibly filling. The rum ball was delicious and not overly sweet. There's an actual truffle ball (hence the name) and it was so decadent and rich. These donuts are truly like a meal. *chefs kiss* The menu is updated monthly with some fun and creative flavors. There's also a good selection of coffee, espresso, and tea. The staff was very nice and the prices were very reasonable. If you're gonna do some shopping at the outlets, Lovebirds is the perfect fuel. read more

Their Boston creme donuts are so creamy and flavorful my mind cannot begin to comprehend it. Their maple donuts (of any variety) are more dangerous that crack, I cannot stop eating them. And their changing fritters are always top notch as well. I don't know how they do it, I just know that I do not want them to stop! Another fun thing is the fact that their menu changes monthly, keeping things fresh and exciting. And this is all without even mentioning their beverages!
