This was easily the worst experience I had considering all of the contractors involved over the last 18 months. It would be a 1 star review had they not at least came out almost a month later to somewhat improve initial rough work at the end of the process. Made it clear to the measurer and then the installer before work began that the area around the base of the stair railings needed to be right up to the edge as that would not be an area where we would be putting any trim. These are narrow hallway areas with expansion room on 3 other sides so no concerns of lack of expansion gap there. Also received the job order to sign off on and matching trim pieces were included which I requested not be ordered, but was told they were already ordered and could not be cancelled BEFORE I returned the signed order to proceed. Was told that I would be charged if any additional prep work was needed and turned out the subfloor was in great shape except for one area where it was a little high requiring the installer to splice in about a 10' x 2' piece of subfloor to level out. At the end of the install I was told this was 9 man hours of work and would be over $1,100 additional. I couldn't even imagine how that added up. Job could have been done in 2-3 days but 2 installers were here 4 days as they were only here 3.5-5 hours a day. Sent an email to Eric Langan who recently took over the company almost a week ago and no response. Really disappointed overall, but paid the full bill and learned a lesson I guess.

Short story-…read moreI was at a local lumber yard, and I got out of my truck to load a bag of insulation. two young men from Bartz were loading some materials into their truck. As I walked to the material I needed to load, one of the young men walked over to me and asked if I needed help. I'm sporting a cane post knee surgery. The young man loaded my item into my truck. At this point, both introduced themselves. I thanked them, and then I told them I had been purchasing flooring from Bartz for 40 years. they thanked me for being a loyal customer. We need more young people like this!! I will continue to do business with Bartz and refer my friends to them!!

After tearing out 3 rooms, 1 closet and 1 hallway of wood flooring to fix a 3x6 area, my husband noticed there were humps in the flooring that were not there previously. After discussing the issue with Mike, he reassured us that sanding would get rid of these humps and bumps. Needless to say, the sander did not fix these issues (3 of them) and the company refused to remedy the problem, stating that they did the best they could...very unprofessional. $12,000 later, instead of 1 problem area, we now had 3. We stopped payment on our check in hopes that there was something to hold over them to fix all the problems they created.
