Used them for several St Pat's Parades. They gave us a faulty generator that started leaking fuel and smoking wildly during the parade on the float. Karen the manager tried to blame us and told us we should of called while the generator was smoking and they were closed. They refunded us 30 percent. They ruined our parade experience. Cambridge Taylor Rental really took care of us for our small, Covid wedding. They had patio heaters and chafing dishes to keep both people and food somewhat warm during a February, outdoor event. They were easy to communicate with and helped us figure out what we needed. They were also really flexible arranging pickup while we skipped town. This "business" should be shut down. These people are horrible, morally bankrupt, and incredibly rude. We made a reservation with them 2 months before our wedding, and the week before, they called us to let us know that "there was no reservation on the books" and hence, no driver to drop off the rentals because it was a Sunday. They then asked US to look for alternative ways of getting the rentals to the location and said that we should look into getting a pick up truck and pick everything up on Saturday. This was after we had paid a deposit and despite the fact that the BILL said DELIVERY DAY: SUNDAY. When I told Karen (an apt name for her btw) that, she flat out denied that the contract said Sunday. When I told her we had a contract, she said it wasn't a contract and threatened to pull out completely because "I was threatening to sue her." (Which someone probably should, for being so incompetent) They ended up finding a driver for Sunday but the experience was so horrible that we cancelled our order and went with another rental company. Shout out to Refined Rentals for being so gracious and for reminding us that not all businesses are as bad as Taylor. Do yourself a favor. Don't go with these people. read more

Terrible! The women who answers the phone and "helps" is rude, not helpful at all, never calls back and is not a person who should be in customer service. All of the contract items were not delivered and when the driver said to call the office she couldn't care less. Never have spoke to such a rude person. The tent was broken and the covering shredded. We rented 10 chairs, a table and place settings for 10 people. They charged 60 dollars for delivery and then refused to bring anything up our stairs. We had to bring everything up and then down the stairs in addition to paying them for delivery. The table was sturdy but not too clean. The chairs were the worst. Rusty, chipped and stained. Where to begin.... So, without thinking of checking out reviews, I hastily put my trust in this poor excuse of a rental company for my backyard wedding. Right out of the gate there were issues. Instead of the usual drop off and setting up of the rentals, I was scheduled to have to retrieve them myself the day before the wedding! Even their selection of chairs was not great. Nonetheless, I hesitantly pulled the trigger. I made a Very VERY careful list of what we needed and spoke directly to the salesperson who just happened to be named Karen, of course. So, I had Karen read me back all that I ordered and was all set to grab the goods the following week. By luck?, they managed to find a driver to deliver. When they did, I couldn't have been more disappointed. First of all, they sent 9 of the wrong tables and none of the table cloths for them that I clearly ordered. The really unattractive chairs were beat to a pulp and the table clothes looked like they were rode hard and put away wet. I tried to explain to the driver, but, he couldn't speak English. So, I called Karen Again....she tried to tell me that I ordered the wrong tables and that I didn't order the table cloths! They finally rectified that the day of the wedding 4 hours before the wedding! I added on some martini glasses and was super specific about the ones I wanted and of course, they screwed the pooch again and sent these silly and colorful glasses that really took away from the look we were trying to achieve. Horrible experience here today. My friend and I chose and reserved one white child's table, 6 children chairs, one white reg table, and 3 adult chairs. Seemed like a pretty simple and straight forward request. The staff confirmed the supplies would be there for pickup at 8 am. We arrived there at maybe 8:30am, and the lady working in the store area informed us they weren't there yet, and we should come back later. No apology, no sorry, no nothing! We went ahead to pick up balloons for our event since we were on a tight schedule. After dropping of balloons at event location, we went back for a tables and chairs. The supplies were there for pickup, but were not the color requested, and were in bad shape, with bad splinters coming out of the wooden table. The child's table was dirty, beat up, and a very ugly faded red color. We requested a different table, but was told they could not do anything. This was a pretty big deal, especially since it is an event for kids and parents, and the splintered table was very unsafe! We had to start our event early because we had to go out and buy butcher paper to cover the splinter table! Once we brought the tables and chairs back to the rental shop, we again were not provided with any apologies, just the grumpy lady from before, and a bunch of nasty looking chairs being loaded into a truck. We kept thinking about how gross these tables and chairs would have been for a wedding or other large scale event! We will not be using this rental store again!! read more

I first scheduled for a Sunday, however until 3 days before I realized there's a 40% probability to rain that day... I called Taylor rental to change it to Sat instead. As awful as awful can be! Basically they delivered equipment that was old, incomplete, and didn't work - and then denied it. It was a terrible choice to go with this company (I didn't do my research to see their bad reputation). That said, the delivery people tried their best. The woman taking the order seemed sweet, but was totally clueless and unprofessional. Ultimately nothing worked, and we didn't use the rental equipment. Rather than them stepping up (the delivery people admitted it was flawed, but apparently I was flawed because I couldn't reach the company that day to complain... I rented a Penske truck for a one way move from Taylor Rental. The truck was newer (only had about 7000 miles on it), was spacious and comfortable. The staff at Taylor were friendly and courteous. They explained all the insurance coverages to me in detail so that I could make sure I was choosing the right things. They walked around the truck with me to note any issues. I'd highly recommend renting a penske truck from them! It was almost $500 cheaper than U-Haul and I feel the service and truck I got were great! read more

It was also a surprise party so we needed to be pretty specific about the delivery time. The staff was very understanding of our needs and the party went smoothly. This is the absolute worst rental service you could use. I got 5 tables and 40 chairs from them which cost a fair price. The first issue with this company is their communication. I had no idea what time they were delivering the tables until the day of. I had to call them at 8 am in the morning and ask when they were coming, and even then the lady on the phone couldn't give me a time just "somewhere between 9-12". Absolutely absurd. Then I get a call 30 minutes later saying they are arriving soon, WTF! The best part is when they arrive they offer 0 assistance bringing in and setting up the tables/chairs, so I was stuck alone carrying 5 (heavy!) tables and 40 chairs up 3 flights of stairs while they sat in the truck on their phones. Felt like I was inconveniencing them for using their services! Luckily I'm a younger individual who in shape, could not imagine if this happened to my mother or father! Their rental equipment, specifically a metal detector, does NOT work. If you go there and before you even walk out of the door with it, toss your keys on the ground. Notice how close to those keys you have to have the detector before it makes ANY noise. Then, you will quickly walk out and save yourself time and money. If I am two inches from my keys (and I have LOTS of keys), I really don't need a metal detector to find them!!! They are also full of excuses--must be the batteries--even when you asked specifically about the batteries when you were there. Stay away! Far away! read more

After calling them to complain they refused to pick up the heater and remove it from my property and I was later charged for a defected heater!! I have heard from numerous sources that the products they rent are outdated, defected and broken, yet the owner continues to rent them out! This was told to be by a previous employer!!! I wish had read the other reviews on Yelp before booking this company. I will never, ever do business with them again. The office person/owner - when I was able to reach her - made a lot of promises she didn't keep. During the planning process, she was slow to or did not at all return emails and phone calls. We ordered 2 tents, a number of tables and chairs, audio equipment, glassware and linens, etc. to be delivered at 6PM the day before the event. They sent one guy, Larry (who was very, very nice and tried to fix the situation) with only the one tent and he was 2 hours late. He said he didn't know anything about the additional items, then said they would be delivered the following day, the day of the event. There were several phone calls back and forth between the delivery guy and the owner, and me and the owner, during which she hung up on us both. We insisted we needed the items on the day they had been scheduled and eventually two other trucks arrived with the rest. They had to put tents up in the dark and were not finished until after 10 PM, and as we were using a venue for which we were responsible, we had to stay until they had finished. The items they delivered were of poor quality or didn't work. They delivered things we didn't ask for and charged us for them. They billed us $600 overtime for their unskilled and ridiculously late set-up team. When I called to have the bill adjusted, I was met with arguments and a highly unprofessional attitude. Very polite and very helpful. I had basement flooding, and called up looking for a water pump. The woman who answered the phone had the guy with more knowledge on tools call me back (which he did promptly). He informed me that they had what I needed to pump the water out of my basement. When I arrived, he had two different pumps ready and demonstrated each by filling up a bucket with water and showing me how they worked, and discussing the advantages of each. We rented a Penske truck for our move and we were assigned to pick it up from Taylor Rental. While the Penske truck was great, the service we received from Taylor Rental was terrible. I have never gone online to write a review before, but I have taken the time to do so in this case to warn future potential customers. The specific problems were as follows: 1. NOT ON TIME. We rented our truck several weeks in advance, but I called the day before to confirm everything. Karen (the owner) was rude and unhelpful. I confirmed the fact that we also wanted to rent a hand truck and furniture pads. However, when we showed up the following day, the furniture pads were not there. I was told someone would "bring them right down." After an hour of waiting, I jokingly asked if they were being brought down from a different location. I was surprised to find that the answer was yes. The furniture pads did finally arrive, but a full 2.5 hours after our scheduled rental time. 2. UNHELPFUL STAFF. Due to the logistics of our move, it would have been helpful for us to leave the car we were going to tow overnight at the Penske Medford location. Karen said she talked to Penske Medford and it wasn't allowed. I called Penske Medford myself and they assured me that was fine and was done all the time. I asked Karen what the source of her prior information was, and she made a face and disregarded my question. 3. INCORRECT BILLING. Upon finally checking out, I checked the bill presented to me by Taylor Rental against the quote provided to me by Penske and I found that Taylor rental was overcharging me. The fuel had also been listed as "full" when it was in fact 7/8 (not an insignificant amount of money when you consider that this is around 6-8 gallons in these large trucks and Penske charges you $6-8 per gallon if they have to fill it themselves). Also, the contract number they provided for our car carrier was actually for a car dolly, and I was rudely mocked when I suggested that the contract be changed to reflect what I was actually renting. 4. RUDE STAFF. Perhaps most problematic, the staff of Taylor Rental never once apologized for any of the many problems we encountered. They didn't apologize for being 2.5 hours late in getting our rental ready to go. They didn't apologize for the misbilling and misdocumentation. In contrast, the owner (Karen) was rude and patronizing. THE SOLUTION: RENT DIRECTLY FROM PENSKE MEDFORD! All of our interactions with Penske Medford were excellent. They were on-time, helpful and, most importantly, professional. read more

I was incredibly disappointed with my experience at Taylor Rental's Somerville, Ma location. I'd urge anyone considering renting equipment, party supplies or grills to go elsewhere. Here's what happened... I rented a grill from Taylor and established a Friday afternoon delivery window - paid a $60 delivery fee to do so. I was told to be present to take possession of the grill. Unfortunately, the grill was dropped off 2.5 hours late causing me to miss a dinner with friends in from out of town and the first part of a Red Sox game. Leading up to the eventual delivery, I was assured twice that it would arrive a mere hour late, only to have it show up 2.5 hours outside the designated window. Huge bummer to start the weekend off. On Monday, once the grill was collected, I called about having the delivery fee reimbursed due to the poor service, assuming that Taylor would make me whole. Instead, two things happened. I was told that I hadn't needed to be present to receive the grill Friday and as a result would not be reimbursed the delivery fee. Essentially it was my fault for waiting around. And as if to punish me for even asking for a reimbursement, I was told to pay a $75 cleaning fee. While the grill was not spotless when I returned it, I had spent 20 minutes shoveling out coals, reassembling the rotisserie and removing food pieces from the grill bed. It looked great for a 10-year old piece of equipment. Guess you got to take pictures these days because one voice can be drowned out easily. Lesson learned. Other lessons learned about Taylor this weekend: (1) Taylor will nickel and dime you if possible, (2) Taylor shows very little regard for any customer service standards, (3) Taylor will show up late with your equipment and (4) Taylor values their bottom line more than their relationships with their customers. Unfortunately, after looking at these other Yelp reviews, these seem to be the core parts of Taylor's business model. Consider Peterson Party Center or Paul's Rental if looking to rent. read more

I rented a large tent, five tables and 50 chairs for an important work event that was held outside. From start to finish, Karen and Nancy were fantastic! They helped me understand the process and secured the permits and permission that I needed from the town. They were responsive and accommodating with some scheduling constraints I had to deal with for the set-up of the rental. Matt and his co-worker came right on time and despite the pouring rain they had positive attitudes, were very customer service oriented and were a pleasure to work with. Thank you Taylor Rental for doing all you could to make the rental experience as easy as possible for me since event planning can be stressful. The whole crew and staff are amazing and always deliver everything in a timely fashion and when I forget something, they take care of me by bringing me the forgotten item. I recently had a party at my church an the Moonbounce we ordered was too tall. The delivery guys came to set up and quickly realized it was not going to work. The ceiling was lower than I thought. The guys left and were back within an hour and set up in time for our party. We also rented tables, chairs, and linens and everything was great. I had rented a frozen drink machine from Cambridge Taylor Rental On Wednesday July 17th 2013. On the rental agreement I was quoted a price of $300 for the month, a few days after the I got the machine I got a call from the manager of Taylor location saying that that price was incorrect and I would be charged $720 for the month long reservation. i was unhappy to say the least and she asked if i wanted to keep it and truthfully I didn't know if I wanted to keep it or not it's not my money so spending more on the rental isn't an issue but i pointed out that i had rented this machine before at $300 for the month and she didn't believe me. At that point I tried to review their website to see if I could find pricing on the frozen drink machine. I could not find pricing so I used the contact us feature and sent an e-mail to Taylor outlining my problem. I did get a response from customer service at True Value their parent company saying that all of the Taylor rental locations are free standing businesses and my e-mail was forwarded onto the store location. I got an e mail from True Value customer service on July 24th after I had gone home for the day. So on Wednesday July 24th 1 week into the contracted rental period they showed up at 9:00pm and removed the machine from my place of business, it was still full of product that I had purchased as well. When I got to work the following morning I called Cambridge Taylor Rental to inquire about why the machine was picked up and the manager Christina told me that my e-mail had been forwarded on from Customer service at True Value and she had her team come and get the machine as a result of my complaint. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau but feel it important to share here as well because this business and the manager in particular are as unethical as they come. Edward read more
