I was in the area and just needed somewhere to quickly grab some breakfast so I wandered into Taylor's, and I have to say I'm glad I did. I got the brioche French toast platter with pork sausage and scrambled eggs and it was amazing. Everything was perfectly cooked. A lot of food establishments cook their meat in a very greasy manner and I absolutely hate that but not here. The service was fantastic and the conversation was very welcoming and I definitely plan to stop in again. Sometimes you get so used to a neighborhood breakfast spot that you thought you reviewed it years ago. But then you see no review after you check in and realize that you need to right this wrong! It's a great cafe with good service, neighborhood charm, and a well-rounded menu with the traditional brunch cafe items you'd expect and some good surprises mixed in. When I'm here breakfast is on my plate 99% percent of the time, and its almost always eggs related since its hard to turn down things like the build-your-own omelets, their four kinds of Benedicts, or that fully loaded breakfast burrito. But they also know who to lure me over to the sweet side with their Belgian waffles and creme brulee French toast! With a plentiful assortment of burgers and sandwiches lunch is good too. Wanted to try something new. I should have immediately turned around when the floors were sticky, but I was hungover and hungry. The server was okay, however she sat us by the basement door. The fresh squeezed OJ was terribly bitter. I couldn't drink it after 2 sips. The food was bland, and dry. I had the crab cake Benedict and the crab cakes were mushy and I believe fake. The only good thing about the creme brulee French toast was the sauce. The bread they used for it was horrible and cheap. I was only able to finish the home fries. My nice waitresssaid the dish is popular.I felt it was only average, though. (I've been here twice only. That was my first time.) I considered NOT returning after this but thought I should give the place another try. Kept my receipts, which Are postedMy 12/14/21 one doesn't note it for some reason but I believe I got the SINGLE BREAKFAST BURRITO 4, which the cafe menu notes is: "1 egg with choice of breakfast meat, salsa, avocado and cheese.") Brunch service is not worth your time. After my girlfriend and I walked past Taylors because you could only read American Grill on the outside. When we realized we passed, we circled back and found it. Went in and stood at the host stand waiting to be seated until a guy from the kitchen said sit anywhere. now there is only at least 6 tables with people. the rest of the place is empty. we were almost going to walk out before we fully went in but decided to give it a shot. But after seating ourselves its 15 minutes with no waiter, waitresses, no service at all. no one asked what we wanted to drink either. no one came to our table. we made eye contact but to no use. let also mention we walked in, barely got a word and left without any word. no one said anything. straight bad customer service and don't recommend the waste of time. we walked 7 min down the road somewhere else. read more

Never had salmon scrambled eggs before, it was very good aside from the small piece of sausage in it. I am vegetarian/pescatarian. But otherwise nice clean place. Maybe the issue with the food was because we got there 40 minutes before closing? I'd think that be enough time... Also interesting (not bad) was that the feta portion of my salmon scrambled eggs came as a portion completely separate on the plate. I guess it was kind of cool to be able to sprinkle my desired amount of cheese onto the eggs. I stopped here for lunch and I ordered the special. The pulled pork quesadilla. It was so delicious. The pulled pork was definitely homemade. Flavorful. Very juicy. A perfect compliment to the quesadilla. Service was rather slow, and I was on a time crunch because I had to head back to work. The restaurant could have been cleaner as well. Taylor's is a solid go to joint for breakfast or lunch. They make everything fresh. I've been there now 7 times. They serve bottomless cups of coffee or soft drinks - whatever is your jam in the morning/late morning/lunch. and it's La Colombe coffee if you're drinking coffee. It's super yummy and everything I've had there I could say is delicious. They make excellent breakfast sandwiches, breakfast platters, waffles, and their regular sandwiches also amazing. also the home fries side and the aioli on the sandwiches- I always ask for more. Yes, you do need to allot a little bit of time to go there but I don't mind waiting while in this place. Whenever I go there I make sure I have some time to just take in things, eat a little slower and not try to rush things. Have another cup of coffee, perhaps? There was only one other table in the restaurant when we walked in, and they already had their food. Service was good, server was attentive and food came out in a reasonable amount of time. I had the eggs Benedict, the eggs were poached perfectly. I ordered a side of tots to go with it. They were very crunchy (good), but also stone cold (bad) when they hit the table. My daughter had the crème brûlée French toast. She said it was good but thought the crème brûlée could have been creamier. When I first moved to the north west Philly area and was looking for a great breakfast joint, Taylor's was one of the first places I decided to try and I am so glad that I did! Taylor's has wonderful staff, a great menu, and I frequent here for breakfast quite often. It is a super clean restaurant with plenty of seating goes all the way to the back of the building with a nice open outdoor seating area. There are televisions in to keep up with your morning news. The air conditioning in the building tends to be up a little higher than normal but that's because the cooks are always cooking and it can get hot towards the front. I give this a five star rating for the food, the employees, efficiency, menu, and cleanliness. read more

Love it here! My friend lives in the neighborhood so this place is a staple. Breakfast or lunch, you can't go wrong. It is popular, so you might have to wait for a table, but shouldn't be too long of a wait. There is a counter if you're into that Kind of seating, or plenty of tables. My favorite meal is the banana boat - french toast with carmelized bananas and whipped cream. DELICIOUS. Overall it was an okay experience. We sat out back where there is some outdoor seating. They have tables with umbrellas on an enclosed deck space. I ordered the egg sandwich on a bagel with homefries and my friend ordered eggs Benedict. Both were satisfying. It's a little pricey for what you get - and pay attention to those "upcharges". I was killing time before an appt nearby and was starved so I decided to stop in for a quick lunch. This place doesn't look like much from the outside but it actually has a very modern diner feel on the inside! I was able to seat myself and a very friendly waitress gave me the menu. I sat close to the kitchen/window where the food comes out and all the staff were friendly with each other and the many regular patrons that walked in. Definitely got the warm and fuzzies when they knew many people by name. The menu is large and has a little bit of everything- I decided on a turkey club and subbed the crispy green beans instead of fries. The sandwich was tasty with perfectly crispy bacon and the green beans came with a delicious spicy sauce that complimented them well. The serving was huge and I ended up taking home over half to my bf who enjoyed the leftovers. Loved it!! We caught up with some relatives here on a visit back to Roxborough. Having moved to the Midwest a long time ago there are simply some things you have to get when you come back. The first was scrapple - theirs was a nice size rectangle cooked crispy on the outside and steaming hot, creamy in the middle. Yum!!! The other was Creamed chipped beef (SOS) - again a childhood flashback - creamy, salty and flavorful. My wife enjoyed her pancakes. The cousins ordered Turkey clubs with fries. I love this place. I've been here a few times and have always had a great experience. The staff is Friendly and the food hits the spot! I usually go with the meat omelet, cheddar grits, and toast. My husband and I had ordered take out often and never had any issues... then went to eat in and boy were we surprised by how dirty the restaurant is. Clearly years of neglect and no cleaning. The walls are even dirty and grimy. The floors are so sticky! While the staff is very friendly, I watched someone drop a pair of tongs on the dirty floor and then proceed to use it to get toast from the toaster. Definitely won't be back, I'm surprised more people aren't sick from how dirty just the glimpse of the kitchen I saw was. read more
