I had a great experience with this moving company when I moved from Durham to Illinois. They gave me the best quote for a long-distance move and they moved my items directly to Illinois without stopping or combining them with someone else's items, which meant none of those annoying stickers! They brought 4 or 5 guys, all very professional, and brought all the necessary materials (blankets, shrink wrap, etc.) to pack my goods on the truck. It only took them about 90 mins to load the truck! (I had a 1 bedroom plus den townhome). As with any moving company, I recommend contacting them a few days prior to your move to make sure you're in their schedule and that there has been no miscommunication. I have been burned in prior moves, but the Taylors did not let me down. read more

First of all, I don't like leaving negative reviews. But this company ghosted me. I cannot rate them for service because I never received any - I am glad others have had a good experience based on most of the reviews. In 2018, We were moving from an apartment to a house which was only an 8 mile trip. I called and a representative came to our apartment for an assessment. We were in the middle of packing so items were not quite move ready. The gentleman asked me where I worked which was none of his business mind you, and in red flag territory, but I was focused on getting this move done, so I let that go. He also asked if the woman present ( my wife ) was my mother, yes another red flag that we chose to ignore. He stepped out of the apartment called the office I presume and came back with a quote which was a little high, and then left. But because we were in a serious time crunch, the company had favorable reviews, and I like to support local family owned businesses, I called and left a voicemail accepting the quote. I lost three valuable days waiting for a call back that never came. We called back but never spoke to a human. I don't know why we were ghosted, and it might be possible that the high quote was to scare us off instead being straight with us out of some concern that I could not pay them, or simply of telling us they were fully booked or maybe the the third floor apartment was a concern. But that is only speculation. I do hold out the possibility that perhaps something serous like a family emergency might be a factor, but I still should have received a callback. I eventually called another company (ATHENS which I already left a yelp review for), they moved us without issue and they got my money because I did have a job. They even picked up new appliances we purchased on the way to our new home. I hope my experience with Taylor is the exception and not the norm. read more

We recently moved from Durham to Clayton NC, about 50 miles away into a 4 BR house. I have never experienced a move before where there was no advance contract or paperwork, until Taylor's. Dwayne Taylor came out, reviewed our belongings and gave us a flat-rate quote. We had already reserved the date by phone in advance, and they had much better availability than others I called. There was no additional confirmation needed. The day of the move, they showed up in their own truck on time with 5 people. They were very polite, courteous and easy to work with. Furniture was wrapped in moving blankets and plastic and handled with care. The truck and a second car followed us to the new location. The move went very quickly including reassembling beds and items at the new house. A move like this would normally take the whole day with many other companies, but with Taylor's we were finished in half the time. Bottom line is they gave a fair price, were on time, handled our items with care, were so fast we couldn't believe how quickly we were done. They did what they promised and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again, they would actually be my first call. Go Birds! read more

I'm very impressed with the service Taylor's Moving Company gave me on an interstate move from NC to GA. The company is a small, family-owned business that was more than equipped to handle my move from a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment into a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom house. About a month before the move, owner Dungee Taylor did an on-site estimate that proved to be extremely competitive. The day of the move, the number of movers who helped kept multiplying! All told, they (5 to 7 movers, which included Dungee's 2 sons) loaded up their truck (including 75 boxes) in just under 2 hours and even vacuumed my apartment. It took me longer to finish cleaning the apartment and do my final walk through! The movers arrived with perfect timing the following day to unload the truck in GA. Again, they worked quickly, unloading the truck in about 2 hours. They hooked up my washer and dryer in the laundry room, which was upstairs. They took direction well about where to place my furniture, including properly positioning rugs under furniture. They even unloaded my cars, which had belongings that I chose to move myself. Ironically, the only thing scratched or broken during the move was a vase that I brought down in my car. Taylor's Moving uses shrink wrap to protect everything, so there were no issues with items on the truck. Taylor's Moving may not be as well known as some of the larger companies serving the Research Triangle, but their professionalism, cost, and overall service are unparalleled. My boyfriend referred me to the company. Honestly, I had concerns about going with a company with fewer reviews than the competition, but I'm so glad I did! Moving is always taxing, but after moving myself from GA to VT and then from VT to NC, I can say this was the easiest move I've ever made. Taylor Moving handled our move from Hillsborough to the Chicago 'burbs at the end of May. Dungee, the owner, and his team did a great job loading our packed boxes, protecting furniture, and unloading at the destination. The guys were on-time, fast, very efficient (the packing job in particular), clean, careful, and pleasant to work with during the entire process. Other than a slightly damaged slat on the back of a rocking chair (which Dungee assured us he'd take care of after we had it repaired), everything was delivered intact. The only glitch we experienced was their truck breaking down in Indiana on the way to deliver the load, putting us a couple hours behind schedule. They easily 'made up' the time and were finished much quicker than expected. Taylor's prices were reasonable and were in the sort of middle area between DIY moving and the large national chains. It's a Durham-based family owned and operated business that's definitely worth a look if you have a move to make. I would unreservedly recommend them to help you with any or all parts of your move. read more

These guys are the only ones I'd trust in the Triangle area. If you can get more honest, competent service for anywhere close to their rates, I'd like to know about it. I talked directly with owner Dungee Taylor and he is both professional and polite, along with his entire team who helped us load a 26' rented box truck for our move out of NC. His movers showed up early, and had our 1400 sq/ft. house loaded efficiently in about an hour which was way faster than we expected. We were always consulted about anything they had a question about, followed up with a "yes sir" or "yes ma'am."....not something I'm used to hearing from moving teams the past 4 times I've done this. They padded and taped our things very thoroughly. We had a small situation with a desk that Dungee resolved personally with me over the phone the day after we arrived at our new home, and I have nothing but respect for a guy that handles business that way. 5 stars for a class act. read more

I hired Mr. Taylor and Co. to move from my 2bd/1.5 bath apt to another 2 bd/1bath apt a short distance away. This was one of the easiest moves I've experienced, they finished the job in around 2 hours, which left me with most of the day to unpack. His son(Dungee Jr) showed up on time and introduced himself. There were about 6-8 people with him that help wrap everything and load/unload the truck. Everyone wears company t-shirts with their names on them so they are easily identifiable. Nothing was damaged and they put everything together where I wanted it. There was a bit of a generational difference in communication. It takes the senior Dungee a while to respond to messages via email and a few of my calls to the office went unanswered so I was a bit worried they wouldn't show, but I was able to contact Mr. Dungee via cellphone and confirm. Amazing job! Our car battery was dead the morning of our move so Dungee's team ended up packing and moving everything for us that we planned to take ourselves like clothes and dishes etc., in addition to the furniture. What I thought would be an all-day move took less than 2 hours to pack up a 1 bed/1 bath apartment and take to another 1 bed/1 bath close by. Both were second floor apartments but they had no trouble getting a heavy dining room table and bed upstairs (even putting my bed together for me including headboard). We were shocked when 8 of them were there to do the job and that made it so quick and efficient. I would definitely use them again and they are absolutely worth the money! read more

These movers were awesome! We called them last minute for a move the following week. They were able to move us with such short notice. They were so courteous and polite and were so fast and efficient! They even helped us with packing some things that we hadn't had a chance to pack. They were careful, yet very quick. They moved all of our stuff into a storage facility, then about 1 1/2 weeks later moved us into our new house. They put our beds together and placed furniture where we asked them to. Exceptional! Truly exceptional moving company. Being from NY, I have had to move many times out of apartments. 3 times I moved with friends and family helping (don't recommend unless you have a small amount of items). Twice I've used moving companies. This experience has been by far the best! Taylor's moving took care of everything! We were still in the process of packing when they showed up (on time by the way!) and they quickly and efficiently packed and moved my entire 2 bedroom 1 office apartment in less than 2 hours! They unpacked in my new house in a half hour! I am not even kidding!! I have never seen such speed and ease and coordination in my entire life. A couple of guys would move boxes into the house, a couple reassembled furniture, and it was just amazing. I wish they did more than just move people! Taylor's Moving was simply an incredible experience from start to finish. We were moving from North Carolina to D.C. and they were able to pick up AND drop off exactly when we wanted, around our schedules. On both sides of the move the movers managed to find the perfect balance between speed and care, working diligently while carefully wrapping and transporting all of our belongings safely. In our new place we had a particularly difficult staircase to get up, and the movers worked tirelessly in the hot summer afternoon to get every last piece of furniture safely and cleanly all the way up into our new home. I am in the process of working with this company. I originally went with a broker who quoted me at $2700 for my 1 bedroom move to Michigan from Durham. However, I spoke to a different person each time, the service wasn't personalized when I requested it and they had horrible reviews. Not to mention that each time I spoke with them my quote went up. Once it got to $3k with horrible reviews, I thought "let me do this the right way and get personalized service for a bit more money." I called Taylor moving company back and they could work with my date preference (no 3 day window and 2-14 day wait for the arrival of my things), provide me with my own truck and the same crew throughout the trip. They quoted me at $4,150. I am looking forward to working with them and will update my fellow Yelpers regarding the rest of the move. read more

Excellent service from start to finish. The owner's son came out to do an onsite estimate for the move. We agreed on a price and sealed it with a handshake. I called a few days before the move to make sure that I was still on the roster to move. There was a small snafu, but they remembered my job being scheduled for the weekend. The crew arrived about a half hour early. I was told that Mr. Dundee wanted to make sure that the crew arrived at the location promptly. The move took about two hours from start to finish. They appropriately wrapped furniture at the pick up location and placed boxes in the designated rooms at the destination. I really appreciate the care they took with my items. From the first day we met Dwayne Taylor for our estimate to the day they unloaded into our new home, the entire crew was helpful, honest, friendly and willing to go above and beyond. Horrible experience. The items were not packed/loaded in ANY order what so ever. ONLY Two movers showed up initially to unload the two trucks. As a result, we helped unpack the truck!The remainder of the movers showed up 2 hours later. MULTIPLE items were broken and/or damaged. We were told that they would return to pick up the boxes, but they never did. Save yourself a nightmare and go with another company!!! read more

These are the most honest movers EVER! And they were incredibly fast - I was blown away! After the worst moving experience leaving Miami, we got here to Durham with no strength to finish the job ourselves. I called them in a "crisis" when I needed movers to unload my truck, I was hoping for the next morning since it was Sunday & late afternoon! I spoke to Mr. Dungee Taylor and arranged to get there in about an HOUR to unload. He showed up with his whole family! They had been on their way to a Sunday family dinner, and changed plans and came to us first. They were incredibly kind, respectful, and gentle with our stuff. They were hard workers too. We had a 17' moving truck packed to the BRIM and they unloaded it in under an hour. They even read the labels on the boxes and put them carefully in the appropriate rooms! If they didn't know where to put it they would politely ask. They were so efficient, and never loaded our stuff onto handtrucks/dollys bc "that's how things break" - they hand carried every last box & piece. If we could have found our bed post screws they would have built our bed too. I've never experienced moving help like this before and I will ABSOLUTELY use them the next time I move. Their price was almost the same as their competitors (slightly under) but their service was miles above the rest! Thanks Taylor Family!!! Not knowing anything in the area I was hesitant to book with a family business with only 2 reviews, but I trusted the little info I had and my gut feeling from the phone call with Mr. Taylor and I am so so glad I did. We had arranged Taylors to pack and move us. Dungee had come out and given us a quote. We had to delay the move twice because our new house was not finished but gave two weeks notice of this. The day before we moved we called to make sure they were bringing paper and boxes. Dungee was very aggressive to my wife and she handed the phone to me because he frightened her. He then accused me of trying to cheat him. He denied we had asked him to pack the house or move the jacuzzi. He interrupted me constantly and insisted that he must come out again that day and get agreement in writing. I told him that would be fine but he then told me to find another company and hung up on me. I don't think there is any excuse for a mover to cancel the day before a scheduled move.
