First the Detroit area is home to a mediterranean restaurant on every corner. most with great food and good service. So the bar is somewhere high. Taza did not make that bar. I ordered the chicken Shawarma because I had not been to this restaurant before and I figured what Mediterranean restaurant can mess up chicken Shawarma. The pita itself was fine, but this was not chicken Shawarma. It was grilled chicken, very tough grilled chicken, wrapped in pita bread. This was an absolutely incredible meal. We ordered the chicken shawarma wrap and the chicken gyro with a side of hummus to share. My gyro was hands down the best gyro I've ever had, and I've tried so many in the metro area!! The staff were very friendly, food was obviously fresh, and service was quick. Prices were very reasonable. Note they only have 2 booths to eat inside, no restrooms, and will charge a 4% fee for paying with credit card ($5 min). We will definitely be back! read more

I've been going here for almost 10 years. However, today I was extremely disappointed. I ordered one of my favorite go to, the Taza fries. Everything about them, gave that they were old/left over. I called to order at 11:20am, 10 minutes before they were set to open. I asked if they were they taking orders. They said yes and that my food would be ready in 20 mins. After almost exactly 20 minutes, I went in and was greeted pleasantly grabbed my bag. Oh, but once I opened it, the food was nowhere near hot. The fries did not seem fresh, couldn't have been made today.. along with the other ingredients.. the pickles seemed soggy, the slaw was watery. The chicken was tough. I just have the feeling the meal was left over from the night before and given to me. I called to speak to the one lady who literally swore they were fresh. Then the owner called me back to say the same thing, which I thought was weird, after I had already spoken to an associate. No resolution was offered to rectify the situation, besides being told that it was fresh made that day, which I just don't believe. read more

The lunch comes with a chicken shawarma, seasoned fried and a pop, I made my shawarma a spicy one and it was delicious!!!! The fries come with Taza sauce drizzled on them but I got mine on the side just incase I didn't like it and I loved the sauce so much I started dipping my shawarma in it. Taza Grill is a winner. All around. The prices are reasonable, the food is fresh, the service is friendly and fast. The chicken shawarma dinner/plate is fantastic - it's a LOT of chicken for what you're paying for and is easily 2 meals. Recently my husband got the mixed shawarma plate that had chicken and beef and it was delish. The meat is flavorful, but not overpowering - I like that. This is the best chicken shawarma sandwich I've had to date. What makes it different is the use of flavored lettuce (I'm guessing covered in a dressing of sorts) within the wrap, adding a whole extra flavor layer to an already delicious meal. Though I didn't have the lamp chops, my buddy did and wished he got the 5pc instead of 3pc, citing that they're the best he's ever had. To top it off, the gentleman who served us was very friendly and approachable- he even hooked us with some extra pita for the delicious hummus. The family that owns this place is really friendly and after my first time there the owner had remembered my name and always greeted me by my name. He was always asking me about how my college classes were going and how life in general was. I haven't been here in a month but I used to live a mile away and since it was on my way to university, I was there often. For 2 years I was a frequent customer, coming in for some of the best valued Mediterranian food around. Their $4 shawarma and gyro sandwiches are a struggling college student's dream come true! Sometimes I would buy lunch and dinner at once for less than $10. Just because their costs are low, does not mean their quality is bad, in fact, it is amazing. For example, a lot of Mediterranean places overcook their kabobs and they come out dry but I have never had that experience with Taza Grill. I seriously could keep going for every dish that I have had here but the best way to get to know it is just to try it yourself.
