Tazi is a real artist, his works are very unique, creative, with Middle East touch! We were looking for some unique furniture that people won't see them at every store. Love this place! This review is WAY over due. Excellent, personal customer service with a heart. When we ordered our sofa we got the attention we needed and we were literally able to customize our entire piece from the frame measurements, cushion firmness and accent pillows. When the sofa was complete it would not fit around a tight turn in our entry way and the sofa was returned and reordered without a problem. I felt terrible and was heartbroken after such a long wait, but Tazi staff took care of us like no other shop ever has and we tell everyone we know about how great our experience was. Awesome store! Personal calls along the way keeping us up to date regarding the status of our sofa. Thanks Tazi for watching out for the customer. I bought a lamp from Tazi a couple of years ago. It was too big and I returned it for another lamp. They were great! The selection is so amazing. I thought I was back in Morocco where I had visited last year! (Morocco is the most amazing country in so many ways. The people are happy with their government now. Their form of Islam is very enlightened and wise. It was fun to travel in an Islamic country and feel safe and respected no matter who I was. We saw woman soldiers, and women Traffic police. The country is open and free and they LOVE Americans. We visited the whole country for 3 weeks and went from Casablanca, to Essouria, Into the High Atlas and ended in Marrakesh. We stayed in the desert in a tent and rode on camels. Moroccans are the most generous of people.) I knew that I didn't have to buy too much because I had TAZI to come home to and TAZI could get me anything I couldn't get then at a very very reasonable price! I fell in love with a light I saw while traveling in Dubai a few years ago and upon returning home in Marin, I tried to figure out how to buy and ship it from Dubai, but ran into too many obstacles. A friend referred me to Tazi Designs to try and find something similar. While there were many beautiful lights in their showroom that would have been great options, I happened to mention to the store manager how I came to find their store and she asked to see a photo of the light that inspired my search. She sent the photo to the designer and we decided to have them create a light based on the photos and dimensions we wanted. Because it had to be designed and then created from scratch it took a while, but the result is a work of art. It is nothing short of breathtaking. The quality of craftsmanship is excellent. We found Tazi and Kellie to be warm, helpful, and knowledgeable. We can't recommend them highly enough and hope to work with them again in the future as we refinish our home room by room. read more

While the pieces of furniture were absolutely stunning, and my girlfriend who loves this type of stuff was ooo-ing and aaah-ing all over the place. The guy running the store, presumably the owner after seeing Nana's review, was VERY rude. We were all smiles, just browsing, and he was just chock-a-block FULL of attitude. I don't know if he was personally stressed about something or if he just hates life in general. I was so excited to find this place online since it looked like they had the Moroccan theme I was looking for to furnish my new place.... my excitement only lasted until I walked through the door. The "office manager," Sarah I think, was totally disinterested and rude. I was clearly very interested in buying and asked her several questions, but she would not even get up from her desk. She kept referring me to their website for more details. I explained that I had visited the website in advance and it was very basic, no options were listed. At that point she switched it to "most of our orders are custom orders so when people decide what they want we will work with them." Well, how can I decide what I want if you won't help me?!? I asked to see different fabrics/styles, to check out the other floors.... she would not help with anything. Sorry Tazi, you lost a big customer.... I was ready to furnish my house with this decor. Maybe if you get down from your high horse and deign to talk to your customers, you won't lose so much business due to your piss poor customer service! read more

Tazi Designs has some of THE most beautiful furnishings and art work you will ever want to find. Tazi's sense of space, his incredible taste in furnishings, his charm and knowledge around everything Moroccan makes just speaking with him an experience in and of itself. The way the showroom is set up, makes you feel immediately that you are in Marrakesh or Fes and what a pleasure that is! It's somewhere where you will want to move into immediately and just stay. Creating a feel of the Medina and having the colors and textures of Morocco in your house makes it even more of a pleasure to come home. I love this place. read more

They said they were sorry, the lamp sold out!!, but of course they DID charge the credit card. And that now, I can get a similar one for $400. read more

One star is way too much for this horrible company! Do not buy from here! I ordered an oversized moroccan pouf (42"x16") from them and within two months it ripped at the stitching. The company refused to replace the pouf and also refused to have it repaired. It was a complete waste of time and money. I think it's reasonable to expect an item to last longer than two months before it tears. Especially when spending $1,350.00. This company is not only rude, but they sell very poor quality items. One star is probably too much! My husband and I went there today to buy new furniture for our home and the woman "working" there didn't bother to lift her head up to even acknowledge our presence. After we said hello, she barely lifted her head to mumble a hello. She continued to ignore us for the entire time we were there and didn't notice that we left. I custom ordered a pouf chair at the end of November and paid half the deposit. Was told by Tazi that it would be ready in a month. After 2 months of not hearing anything, I called and was told that it was not ready. Although they were apologetic about this, they said it would be at least another 6 weeks for it to be ready. Well, another 6 weeks goes by and I still haven't heard anything!! Pretty annoyed at this point, I am told again that there was another mistake in the color of the threading. I pick up the pouf 5 months later. I ask them to at least take off the tax for this ridiculous delay and the woman working says it's not her store so she can't do anything. Although my poufs are great, I would NEVER shop here again. read more

Anybody who walks into Tazi Designs is welcomed by a demure woman who is pleased to be of help, and the gracious owner, Tazi himself. The amount of selection available at this place is amazing. He uses tiles on his tables that no one else has discovered. And that's why the place is so authentic. This isn't some sell it and ship it place. The owner is Moroccan and spends half the year there, handpicking the unique items he carries. And his prices can compete with anybody. But be careful. You might walk out with a complete room that belongs more in Fez than S.F.!! read more

The craftsmanship of the tables, lamps and sofas is excellent. I especially liked the brass work in both the extraordinary tables and lanterns. Tazi can also make mosaic tables in different sizes and adapt the traditional patterns to fit, in my case to a large octagonal table. The lanterns also create beautiful shadow patterns on the walls when lit. Tazi will custom-make things for you that they don't have in stock, but be aware that they will be shipped from Morocco and may take quite a while to arrive, with the arrival date not completely within Tazi's control. Absolutely the worst! The most rude, arrogant, nasty service I've ever received. Products seem nice but this store doesn't deserve to get any orders. After asking a valid question, I got yelled at and hung up on. The funny thing is that I should've been the one yelling and hanging up due to a problem but was shocked to get that treatment myself instead. Hicham should not work in customer service if he cannot have a normal conversation with a client. Avoid at all costs if you want anything that involves working with the owner. I got the WORST treatment of my life while shopping for a sofa. He gave me attitude like I've never seen before. Kept saying we were not communicating and that we didn't have to make a deal. In the end, he admitted he did NOT want to help us. Rude, maybe even on drugs. Definitely prejudiced....and I'm even middle eastern! I'm looking to see if I can report his behaviour to the Better Business Bureau. The woman's name is Marta. She gave me a quote on a very large pouf that they show in their online catalog. I asked her for a quote on the next size up. She said she'd get back to me with a quote. For several weeks, she didn't return my calls or emails. Once, she answered the phone, told me she hadn't forgotten me, and that she was waiting for a quote. She knew I was not a wholesaler. Today, I finally reached the manager. First, he gave me a quote on the stuffed pouf. He told me they had just gotten the quote for me. When I asked how much the same pouf would cost unstuffed, he suddenly shifted gears and told me that they've decided to only sell to the trade. HUH???? Then, why did he just give me a quote on a stuffed pouf one minute before? IT SAYS RIGHT ON THEIR WEBSITE THAT THEY SELL TO "HOMES". Why doesn't it say "to the trade ONLY" or "wholesale ONLY" on their website? I have purchased items from them before. A couple of the things were nice. One item was majorly defective. I feel like I have been discriminated against by this company, and I take it personally. Bought a leather pouf today. I bought a natural tan leather...and, as it just arrived from Morocco it still has a strong odor. I was told how to help eliminate the odor by having it in a well ventilated area and that it would disappear in a few weeks. Time will tell how that goes. Smell aside, I love my new pouf. The customer service was great. Marta, and I am assuming one of the owners were very warm and friendly. They were helpful but did not pressure me at all to make a purchase. The stuff in their shop is beautiful. Amazing lanterns and pillows, furniture and poufs in beautiful vibrant colors. I highly recommend this place for beautiful authentic items from Morocco.
