We bought 4 chairs for our dining room in December 2021. They are at our dining room table, which we do not use on a daily basis. These chairs are sat in perhaps once a month, on average. We have no kids at home and my wife and I are both small people at under 140 lbs each. They are lightly used and absolutely not abused. On Mother's Day, we did use the dining room table. I sat down in one of the chairs and the right rear leg fell off. I sat straight down and was suddenly on the floor. Thank goodness it was me and not my 82 year old, frail Mother-in-law. See the photos below. Upon inspection, there was a knot that created a very weak spot in the leg. Only about 1/16 inch "line" of wood needed to break for the leg to fall off. Most of this leg had a gap in the knot when I bought it. I will tell you that I spent the years 2012-2020 in a lab studying mechanical failure, so I actually know this subject really well. Unfortunately, this business owner will not accept responsibility for a defective and dangerous product. In my view, I should be getting a replacement chair. He's claiming that the chair was leaned back on. It wasn't. The pictures tell the story here. The evidence is very strong. I've only been offered 15% off of the purchase of a new chair. Ummm, no, I'm not giving you another $425 of my money. So, if you buy anything here, inspect it well before you take it home. read more

The person on that day was friendly and helpful and all of the items were made in house. We did not find anything that fit our needs on that particular day, but with an every changing inventory there is a treasure hunt excitement every time we walk in. When the sun streams in, the table and bench light up and look stunning showing off the many different layers of colors in the teak and the amazing workmanship. I've had the Hexi end table, Dean Nook dining table, and Bowerie dining chairs for over a month and love them. The Hexi table serves 2 functions at once: coffee table and laptop stand! The dining table has a unique blend of colors with some minor imperfections in the reclaimed wood. But overall it is gorgeous and perfect for dinners or a remote working space. I just purchased a new kitchen table from Alex and could not be happier, this table is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I had been looking for a new kitchen table for months -- I wanted something durable and unique. I found the perfect one in this store but it was not a dining table and was instead a smaller coffee table. Alex worked with me to create a custom metal base that turned the coffee table into an amazing kitchen table. It's circular with a glass "river" panel running down the center. Stopped here first on a multi-store shopping adventure looking for ideas and furniture for my new home and so glad I did. I came back and got an awesome dresser and storage trunk! Most if not all pieces are recycled from antique teak homes in Asia and given new life. The craftsmanship is quality, and each piece is unique because each piece of wood is different. I was looking for a round table that measures 78". I found a table that I loved from Teak Me Home that was offered in 48". I called Alex at Teak Me Home to see if they could do a custom version in the size I wanted. He was so absolutely helpful, said yes, and walked me through the process. A day later I had a spec drawing of the table, approved it, and they got to work on my custom table. My table was made from 100 year old reclaimed teak wood from a demolished house in Indonesia. Alex explained the process for making the table which took 3 months but was well worth the wait. During that three months I was given play by play progress updates and photos. The white glove delivery service that delivered my table and put it together was extraordinary, so kind, so helpful! Alex even sent me a gift of wood polish and a hand written thank you card. The table is so well constructed, the wood is gorgeous. It makes such a statement in my home. I couldn't recommend Teak Me Home more! First off, the customer service is very good at Teak Me Home. The store is small, but full of wonderful furniture. Their workshop is in the back behind the storefront. The proprietor Alex is very friendly and knowledgeable, and his designs are really unique. The delivery team was also very friendly and careful bring the furniture into our house. I ordered the Emery table- striking, modern, and minimal. I loved learning about the history of the wood and the metal, and that both were reclaimed from houses to be torn down and ship broken down to scrap. We've had the table for 5 months now, and we couldn't be more happy. The table is is solid and beautiful. It is a conversation piece when people come to visit our house. First of all, what's not to like about the name? So, I was favorably impressed even before I went through the door. What's inside is amazing. Alex travels to Indonesia several times a year to bring back carefully selected slabs of reclaimed and recycled teak. He turns them into stunning pieces of furniture. I had been looking for a table to go with a handcrafted kitchen bench for way too long before stumbling upon Teak Me Home. Alex had several table tops of various sizes that worked in my small space. The hardest part was choosing which one. Each one has some "love spots," which some might call imperfections, such as small nail holes. To me, they add character to the piece. When you stop by, be sure to ask Alex to show you his cleverly designed coffee table that turns into a higher table. read more

Alex was helping another customer but acknowledged me when I walked in and welcomed me when the other customer left w/ his purchase. The furniture is made from reclaimed teak and is beautiful. I told Alex I was interested in a small end table and the price I wanted to pay. There were two possibilities, both interesting, both a bit larger and heavier than we needed and more expensive than we wanted to pay. I left, telling Alex that I would bring Alan by to look at them. As it happened, I found a table that would work well at another store and we won't be back. We love our Tides dining table -- beautiful reclaimed teak with a "river" of glass running through the middle (perfect for hot plates, etc.). Alex was very patient with us over several weeks of deliberation, considering every possible customization we proposed. After the table was delivered, we determined that the positioning of the two bases was not going to work with our chairs, so Alex arranged for Arman, his very skilled craftsman, to come to our home and customize the table on site -- at no charge. There were also a few marks on the table that unfortunately happened during the initial delivery, and Arman completely refinished the table surface to make the marks disappear. Couldn't be more over the moon about our gorgeous teak dining table w/ a hidden leaf. What is not to love? It's gorgeous without being showy. It glows. It smells unbelievable. It is very sturdy and toddler friendly -- forgiving of spills and mishaps, and its rounded table legs and simple shape make bumps less likely, and gentler when they do happen. And it is a normal size that we can expand if we ever have to host a big party, Thanksgiving, etc. It's like a bouquet of wood that centers our home, drawing my gaze (and everyone else's), whenever we're nearby. Selection, deliberations, and delivery might not be central details in determining where you shop for furniture (after all, you'll have it forever), but it remains remarkable how pleasurable & easy logistics were. We felt informed and heard by Alex as we deliberated over our choice, and at the same time, he gave us the right level of privacy so we could be candid with each other, and check in about price range, aesthetics, comfort, etc. Delivery happened an hour after we bought the table. The store is full of beautiful furniture with innovative and simple design. There are several pieces we're now contemplating for our new home. I love my solid teak dresser from Teak Me Home! I bought the Kubrick 10-drawer split dresser, crafted from reclaimed teak and reclaimed steel. I stare at it each night before going to bed. I looked at the usual chain stores like Crate and Barrel, Ethan Allen, and Restoration Hardware, but all the dressers looked the same and there was nothing unique about them. Most of the furniture was not solid wood, made from veneer, and the wood used was not even specified. The quality and craftsmanship of my Teak Me Home dresser is beyond compare. The teak is a rich, natural color. The design is simple and elegant. I live in Chicago, but this was no problem. Alex was fantastic to work with. He was very responsive. He thoroughly explained the craftsmanship of the piece to me, and sent me tons of photos of the dresser in different lighting. The shipping costs were very reasonable.
