Unfortunately, our furniture purchase was not a great experience. When they came to deliver the furniture, the furniture looked used - it had nicks and marks already on the furniture. They also only had one set of cushions for us even though there should have been two. When I finally reached the sales person there was no explanation for the wrong delivery. When they came to redeliver, they had the wrong delivery time. What I had hoped would be a seamless delivery of new furniture was several hours of my time on multiple days dealing with still unexplained mistakes. Very strange experience and not what we would have expected given the price point of this furniture (and the delivery fee!). read more

Still incredible. New house with bigger backyard required more furniture. Memorial Day Sale at Terra for some of the best quality outdoor furniture is a no brainer. Patio World and Restoration Hardware are nice, but very expensive and what sets Terra apart is the service. We have a party coming up the following weekend and really wanted to get these new chairs in time so we'd have more seating area. They let us know that deliveries happen on Monday's and with memorial day being a holiday we wouldn't be able to get the delivery until after the party. Fred who was helping us went to ask to see what they can do, and Anders who overheard the conversation offered to help out. Their warehouse is in Richmond and he mentioned he'd have to go there on Wednesday so could pick up our chairs and drop them off at our house since San Rafael is right off the Richmond Bridge. I was in that position, too, and looking for pieces complementing each other and, together, giving a tastefully coordinated and "finished" look. I reviewed products at most retail stores specializing in outdoor furniture--very disappointing. Then a friend told me about Terra Outdoor Living! I checked out their website and was intrigued with the variety and quality from sofas and chairs, coffee tables, firepits, dining area tables and chairs and even umbrellas. Their pieces are handsome, well-described with excellent details; clearly, each piece was carefully chosen to be part of Terra's collection. My dilemma: so many possibilities to choose from, what atmosphere did I want to create in my garden? I decided to visit least five Terra stores in the Bay Area. Each has its own "personality", displays, and personable and knowledgeable staff. I ended up ordering from the San Ramon location; their display area is huge and I received incredible service from Carlos, the manager and his team. Not only could they answer all my detailed questions, there was no pressure to buy, and, in fact, it was a lot of fun to learn from them in a very friendly environment. I ended up returning to Terra a couple times as my furniture needs expanded. I had the same wonderful experience each time. Terra products are high quality and good looking and the company stands by them. Five years ago for a new home I purchased a lot of furniture, and except for one item everything is still in excellent condition. The one problem I recently had was handled extremely well by store management. A dining table I had purchased had the faux-concrete looking base and top. Over time small surface cracks appeared in the top and water penetrated. Recently when a workman attempted to lift and move the table, the top cracked. The table was out of warranty but the manager of the store where I had purchased applied the full original price of the table to a new table. I paid the difference, a small amount because the new table was on sale, and the delivery price. I very much appreciated the store manager working with me in this way. Great customer service! And the delivery cost only $150, even though the location was several hours of drive time from the warehouse in Stockton, CA. read more

We have shopped at this location before and have purchased some great items. Today I returned to replace some chair pads since our dog decided to eat them. While standing at the office there was a sales person standing there and not saying anything. So I asked her if I could please have some help. She seemed bothered. I explained my story of needing new cushions and I have them in the car to make things easier to order. She huffed, she gave excuses, she couldn't be bothered to help me figure out what to order. Like the other reviews said the furniture seem like high quality. My rating is based on the customer service we received. My husband and I went to Terra Patio with money to spend. We spent 1/2 hour walking around picking out our favorite pieces. When it came time to check on prices we didn't find anyone to help outside so we went in the office. We were greeted with a "yes?" Okay, not the friendliest greeting but I gave him a moment to move out of staring at a computer mode. "Hello, I was hoping to get some prices on a couple items" "I'm busy helping someone else" Nothing else was said. I've worked in retail, as a waitress, a farm stand greeter...that type of customer response absurd. I get busy. I don't get cold responses like I was inconveniencing him. I wasn't looking for the red carpet but I was looking to buy furniture. So I said thank you and just left. I bought furniture online instead. read more

I live in a very old condo building. The pool and hot tub just got remodeled and I went to Veni at Terra Teak and asked for a quote for new furniture for our home owners association. Veni went out of his way to find furniture that was used on various show room floors as display. Beautiful stuff but awesome prices. I hope our assoc. goes for it because he went out of his day to get a great deal on amazing and excellent quality teak lounge chairs and chairs. That place--Terra Teak and Garden Rocks! I went to several places in the area and this place came out ahead on price and quality. I stopped by Terra about a week ago and had excellent customer service. I went back today to compare two different collections before settling on what I want to order. I arrived about 7-10 minutes before closing and after contemplating on the pieces, I had a question for the staff. They were in the the office. No one came outside and I waited. When they came outside I said, "You may not have noticed me as I was testing out some of the chairs. I don't want to keep you, but I have a question that I'm hoping you could answer as you walk out. " I was told, "We are closed and anything you want to know is on the website." I was taken aback as this was clearly not the same reception I received on my previous visit. I'd think a customer with a question is a potential customer for a sale. With customer service (or lack there of as I experienced today), I'm wondering how they have customers. read more

The furniture is high quality and has held up pretty well. However, I went in twice in the last week to fix a gizmo on the chair base that fell off. All I needed were a couple screws and a custom-shaped piece to help secure it. After spending thousands of dollars with them and considering buying more, I had hoped they would have: (1) expressed concern that the piece fell off, and (2) been proactive about fixing it. They did neither. The gave the vibe that they really didn't want to be bothered and seemed to be confused as to why I would trouble them with such a mundane question. Service, service, service! Yes, Terra offers beautiful and high quality furniture, and I found exactly what I was looking for. But, what set my shopping experience apart was the incredible client service... I live in Tahoe and worked with Jennifer Faulk remotely. She sent me photos of the patio table I wanted in different colors and helped me pick the perfect one. She double-checked measurements to ensure our existing chairs would fit under the table. She was forthright about supply chain issues but under-committed and over-delivered -- a potential three-month delivery took two. And when the table was delivered it was securely packed for shipment and easy to assemble (because of the high quality and tight tolerances). Jennifer was patient, responsive, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. I initially looked online for something comparable but came up empty-handed. I ordered a rectangular umbrella for my outdoor dining table from a different store (not Terra) and it was back ordered twice with no notice, so I canceled. It was so disappointing as we had been waiting for it for three whole months! My husband and I went to Terra where we had shopped with success before, and met Chantal, the manager. She was friendly and thorough. She checked on everything right then and there--located the umbrella and the pole, (both in different locations) and had them brought to the MV location, then assembled and ready for pick-up the next day. She also called to confirm the timing which I appreciated. The fabric color of the umbrella was not our first choice but still nice and she (without hesitation) offered to replace it if (after we took it home) we decided we simply preferred the other color at which point she would special order the other color with no need to return the one we had until the new one arrived. That's excellent customer service. I will not hesitate to go there first next time. I purchased a beautiful table, chairs and lounge chair from Elza today at terra teak and garden off of 101 in Mill Valley. Elza was fantastic, the prices were very reasonable, particularly for the quality and the service was impeccable. They bent over backwards to get furniture in my backyard the same day I bought it and it is incredible. I looked all over the bay area and on the internet and while they were not the lowest price, they were very competitive and the quality and value combination was unmatched. My partner and I purchased a very large amount of furniture here two months ago and were given a delivery date. For an expensive store, we would have expected much better customer service. The salesperson was not very helpful and seemed apathetic about our purchase, but we liked the furniture and wanted something that was in stock and available quickly. Here we are two months later and we have yet to receive most of our furniture. When I call to inquire about the status they give me a separate phone number for a warehouse; no one answers or returns our voicemails. I am extremely aware and understanding that COVID has caused uncertainty with deliveries and shipments, but I would at least expect some sort of customer service or phone call when someone has spent thousands of dollars. Only giving it two stars because the one small piece we have received is good quality, but I would absolutely not recommend. read more

low pressure no nonsense shopping. don't you hate when you go to a furniture store and a salesman tails you like a smokey the whole time offering bad home decorating advice? well you won't hate it here. they leave you alone and let you roam in peace. sit on everything, prop your feet up. go ahead, nobody is watching you. nobody is going to slither over and sell the crap out of you if they hear you praising a piece of furniture. the showroom is not a room. it's a patch of grass next to the freeway with lawn furniture strewn out all over. but it works. table, chair and couch arrangements are laid out sensibly for proper sampling (albeit a bit crowded). just use your imagination to drown out the sound of the 18-wheelers swishing by on the 101 and imagine some twittering birds. the merchandise is good quality and pretty high end (in ironic contrast to the yard sale setting). maybe not quite to the level of Restoration Hardware, but close. if you lied most people would probably believe you. synthetic wicker, sumbrella weather resistant cushions and all that. they have some promotions on the major shopping holidays. worth coming in then to get some nice discounts. They were firm on price when I came in for a deep Labor Day discount, but I get the feeling there is room to haggle if you come at a non-sale time. read more
