I can say that I am a type of person that usually doesn't write these type of reviews, but I was too unsatisfied. In one sentence, I bought four cups of water for about 23 dollars. The store was really busy when I visited; therefore, I do not know if the quality was significantly affected by it, but this was one of the worst bubble tea I have ever had. The boba was way too soggy that It couldn't keep it's original texture. All drinks we had was way too watery; the taro milk tea was probably the best one we had out of the four drinks, but we would have still appreciated if it was stronger. However, the other three drinks tasted like just water with like a sprinkle of the respective flavor, such as matcha. The people that I went with had their rolled ice cream before which they really enjoyed, but as a bubble tea place, it was really sad. read more

Women's restrooms did not have any hand soap. I asked a guy who was wearing the uniform of the place, and he said we do not have soap, and he left. I asked the lady who was preparing the smoothies for soap and she did not find any, until she went to take the one placed in men's restrooms. Nice boba tea place. They allow you to decide if you want full sugar, half, less, or no sugar. Because of location in Chinatown parking can be tricky depending when you go. I had the awesome milk tea. It was a good solid milk tea. I was a little disappointed that even thought I came a good 30-45 min after the shop opened the tapioca balls weren't ready, so I opted for herbal jelly instead. Herbal jelly is good, but it's not tapioca balls. They have a good selection of milk teas and iced teas with fruit flavors. They also serve crepe cakes ( similar to lady M style for those of you who know). Will report back if I ever try the cake! 3.5 stars. We came here Saturday evening for a sweet treat after dinner. My friend got a milk tea with boba, another got the chocolate lover's Thai rolled ice cream, and I got the bubble waffle with strawberries and mango ice cream (original flavor). I was disappointed to find out my bubble waffle had no Thai rolled ice cream- the picture suggested that it would be rolled, with the waffle folded up behind it. The second we ordered, the place became packed and there were like seven people behind us. The ambiance was really cute and chill, but they looked like they were trying really hard to get on the Halloween bandwagon- please see photos, lol. The drinks themselves were quality according to my Taiwanese friend's milk tea. We enjoyed the chocolate lover's Thai rolled ice cream, because it was a light chocolate taste -- not your typical American chocolate. The texture was also very smooth and creamy, we watched the guys roll it out on their lil frozen dish. My biggest complaint is that the dudes making all these ice cream treats had no idea what went on the toppings- two separate guys I saw kept backing up a few steps every few seconds, looking up at the picture display on the Screen, and then adding the toppings one by one- it was almost painstaking to watch. I also feel like this place might not be well equipped for a crowd- it seemed like the wait time was quite a bit. My bubble waffle was tasty, but I was disappointed at the lack of round bubbles- they were deflated and charred around the edges. For $7.50, the waffle should look better. Finally, the mango ice cream was very light in mango flavor. The guys did do a good job of adding strawberries and mango slices on top though, despite them having to research the toppings. This is one of the newer restaurants in Chicago I have never been to until recently. I went here for a bubble tea pickup and the environment looks real nice and modern compared to many older places in Chinatown. I didn't try their food but the drinks was just like many other places. Found this gem while walking around in Chinatown. There is quite a large selection of milk teas/treats to choose from! We got the TBaar milk tea to start with half sugar and half ice + boba pearls, and it was really good! Rolled ice cream is PERFECT! I come here for the boba usually, which is always good. The pearls are cooked nicely, but the the drink itself is always too sweet for my taste. You can ask to lessen the sugar, though. I do love the huge variety of drinks you can choose from and the ambiance is great. Service is always nice and friendly. Recently came here on a Sunday for rolled ice cream since the other places with rolled ice cream in Chinatown had lines out the door. I was thankful I came here the time that I did because once I finished ordering I glanced behind me and saw that the line had reached the door! I love watching them make the rolled ice cream from behind the glass it made me feel giddy and excited like a little kid lol. Although our orders took a while to be ready and I was getting pretty impatient after 5 min, once I got my ice cream I didn't care about the wait because the product was heavenly. I ordered my drink.I ordered a Bubble Milk Tea. Anyway, when I got my drink I felt very unsatisfied because the milk tea didn't have any taste of tea, just the taste of creamer or milk and a lot of sugar. Also, the cashier was rude when I asked to why my drinks no bubble ball,because on the monitor is bubble milk tea. Just not good. I was expecting some good milk tea and boba considering that this restaurant is located in Chinatown. And it just was not good. The boba or tapioca as they call them were hard and significantly smaller than traditional boba. The tea was powdery, there was a really weird residue in the cup. The employees were nice enough but just not clean. I have experience working in a restaurant where we have been taught to wash our hands religiously. The employees were coughing near the food. Just in general behaving in a manor that was not what I enjoyed being near my food. I'm giving 2 stars because the store is in a good location and definitely a nice cafe vibe. Great modern juice bar right inside Chinatown. After walking into all the the retail shops up and down Wentworth where they felt like they haven't been changed or updated in 25 years or more, walking into Tbaar was definitely refreshing. I ordered an iced matcha latte. The matcha flavor itself tasted great, but it tasted like if it was watered down. Maybe they're using 1% fat milk? The atmosphere is nice with cozy lights and seating options, but if you're coming with friends, you gotta scream at each other because the music was way too loud. Two girl employees working at 11:30 AM on 11/25/16 were on their phones the whole time while taking orders. In addition to this, they lied to us and told us that we didn't have lychee jelly when they did. They just didn't want to admit that they gave us the wrong jelly. They told us that the mixed jelly was the lychee jelly but it wasn't. We know they lied because they spoke in mandarin (because they thought we didn't understand Chinese) and they told each other that they did have lychee jelly but not to give it to us because they didn't want to change the drink. I realize it was a quiet Sunday morning but I was not too impressed with employees sitting in a booth doing their own thing and then coming to the counter to take order and to start prepping my drink without washing their hands- no gloves, no apron etc. They didn't have tapioca ready so I had to order my bubble tea without bubbles. We tried the Fresh Passion Fruit Green Tea, which was very tasty, I'd go back just for that again. I sat right in front of the cash register waiting for my drink and the two guys were finishing up the order for the people in front of me and then sat down at the booths on their phone. Did they not see that a person was waiting right in front of them with no drink? Also, I don't understand why they have to be so obnoxious and talk so loudly in Chinese. Expect to spend 20-30 minutes just waiting for your order of a simple drink. They staff 5 people in the front just to make tea/rolled ice cream but only maybe 2 employees are productive. Pretty good place for studying or just hanging out. We came in on a Saturday afternoon and it was quite busy, but the area is spacious with ample seating. They've got wi-fi, a couch, and board games which was pretty nice. They also validate parking for up to 3 hours with a minimum purchase of $15. I really wish I could give a better rating because of the ambiance and reasonable prices but the matcha latte did not quite hit the spot. It felt like drinking hot milk with a hint of matcha because the flavor was lacking. I'm here visiting Chicago for the first time and come across to this Tbaar place. Customer service was bad. The people inside working was on there phone and chatting. It's so unprofessionalI. I ordered a milk tea and I saw this customer holding a light bulb with tea inside. The cool thing was it change to multiple colors. I then decided to order another drink to get that light bulb. But it turns out that mines only came in 1 color. I then ask the person that works there. She told me it's remand. I ask her if I can get the multiple color one instead, she said no. Well, she should have inform me that it was remand before I actually purchased it. And after 10 minutes the light was broken! I would not recommend this place. P.S. my fiancé ice green tea apple was luke warm due to no ice!! And P.S. #2 and they were out of ice coffee!! read more
