I would rate it higher, but the prices are insane, especially considering the vast majority of the selection can be had elsewhere or ordered online. Maybe the shipping price evens things out these days when factoring import fees? In any case, staff were friendly enough but also just kinda stood there. Not sure what I would expect them to do, but they weren't busy at the time. Store was clean but rather condensed as well with narrow walkways. The chocolate we did get was tasty. It's just not anything so unique that it can't be had elsewhere and for cheaper.

Applelicious sells many flavors of apples and pretzels, including plain chocolate, pecan, cashew, M&Ms, and Reese's Pieces. Their chocolates include buckeyes, cashew turtles, pecan caramel turtles, cinnamon grahams, and Oreo cookies. Through their website, I ordered Buckeyes ($6.95), cinnamon grahams ($2.50), a plain pretzel ($4.50), and a roasted pecan apple ($12.95). UPS shipping cost $11.70. The next day, UPS delivered the package to my house--very fast! Applelicious had packed the correct types of chocolates. The Buckeyes (5 stars) tasted very peanut-buttery, and even my husband commented that he liked them. One cinnamon graham (4.5 stars) was milk chocolate, and the other was white chocolate, and I enjoyed the flavors. The plain pretzel (4.5 stars) was a rod that was covered in a very wide layer of caramel and chocolate. The gourmet apple (3.5 stars) was a Granny Smith apple that was large, crisp, and juicy, and it was covered in caramel, milk chocolate, and pecans. My husband and I did not like having pecans on our apple, but that is the flavor that I had chosen. I should have played it safer and ordered the plain chocolate flavor.

An employee patiently waited while I chose my preferred flavors of chocolates, and then he carefully boxed them. Another employee spoke courteously to me and accurately rang up my purchase. At home, I thought that these chocolates were so tasty that I ate all of them in one sitting! During my most recent visit, I purchased several types of chocolates that were already prepackaged: turtles, Fruity Pebbles white chocolate, chocolate-covered raisins, chocolate-covered marshmallow, s'more, and truffles. My husband and I visited this factory store one time. When we entered the store, an employee greeted us and asked if we needed any assistance. Some of the flavors of chocolates were not labeled, so I recommend that the store add more labels. The employee did answer my question about a particular flavor. This store had many display cases and shelves of chocolates in flavors such as chocolate truffle, cherry cordial, caramel, peanut butter, pecan, cashew, butter cream, pretzel, coconut, Oreo, etcetera. I also saw some candies such as gummies, licorice, and taffy. My husband and I picked out five chocolates for a total cost of $33. The employee promptly rang up our purchase, thanked us, and wished us a good day. At home, my husband and I ate our chocolates. Here are our ratings: Chocolate-covered mini pretzels - 3 stars - I thought that these chocolate-covered pretzels tasted *very* buttery. Peanut-butter cup - 4.5 stars - This chocolate was a large size and looked as if it could have been poured more neatly. I did enjoy the flavor of the peanut butter. Bag of bloopers chocolates - 4 stars - This one-pound bag contained an assortment of imperfect chocolates. I felt happy that a cherry cordial was included, and it seemed to contain crystallized sugar. Some other flavors were nut clusters, peanut butter, coconut, pretzel, etcetera, and they tasted good. Cordial strawberry - 5 stars - A cordial strawberry is covered in chocolate and contains much liquid. According to the business's website, a cordial strawberry is made from a cut piece of strawberry that is dipped in liquid fondant and then chocolate layers. I thought that this piece was a large size and that the cordial was a bit messy but very flavorful. Milk-chocolate bar - 4 stars - My husband ate this 3.5-ounce milk-chocolate bar, and he said that it was good.

I bought two products, and here are my reviews for them: Chocolate-caramel-pecan turtles - 4.5 stars - Four turtles weighed 1/4 pound and cost $8. I would prefer more chocolate and caramel and fewer pecans, but I thought that these turtles tasted good. Bourbon Cherry Chocolate fudge - 4.5 stars - This fudge cost $5 for 1/4 pound. I enjoyed the sweet flavors. I saw many other chocolates and other sweets that looked delicious, but I try to have a generally healthy diet, so I will wait to buy more sweets here until I am in the neighborhood again.

You also have the option to try out some samples before you buy. Although all the truffles and chocolates looked delicious, today, I decided to just try the penuche fudge, peanut butter chocolate fudge, and the chocolate covered popcorn. The penuche fudge was delicious, but also quite sweet (on the verge of being too sweet). When describing what the fudge tastes like, the shop owner said it is similar to a Werther's caramel. I agree; there is definitely a caramely taste. I tried a sample of the plain milk chocolate which was absolutely amazing. The triple chocolate fudge is also great and consists of white, dark, and milk chocolate. The next fudge I got was the peanut butter chocolate fudge. It is made with Belgian milk chocolate (all the chocolate they use is Belgian). The chocolate flavor is perfectly sweet. The peanut butter flavor is strong and creamy. The texture is on point in both of the fudges. And, the price is quite reasonable with a 1/4 pound costing $5. Finally, the chocolate covered popcorn was also great. A whole bag is just $3! The chocolate is by far the best part of this sweet treat. I believe it is the same high quality milk chocolate they use in their fudge. The popcorn itself was okay, but it was too buttery in my opinion. All in all, I will definitely return to the Boulevard Sweet Shoppe. The service is friendly, there is a great sweet selection, and the flavors are quite good. When it comes to Oakmont sweets: get your baked goods at the Oakmont Bakery, and stop by the Boulevard Sweet Shoppe for candies, fudge, bark, and other sweets.

This is an odd sort of review, because the only chocolates I've eaten from here were the ones she tutored us to create. And...well...they were magnificent. So rewinding a bit... I was looking for gift idea for SB. A friend at work pointed me to a link to a listicle or PG article about a chocolate making class. I'd never heard of it before. Completely in the weeds. When I went to A519's webpage, it was not intuitively obvious to me where I could go to sign up. BUT...it's listed under "products"...https://shop.a519chocolate.com/products/private-truffle-making-class There...I made a link for you. If you love chocolate, or you love someone who loves chocolate, this class was really fantastic. It broke down a bit like this...(2 hours) 1) Introductions/qualifications/backstory (5 minutes) 2) Presentation about cacao to chocolate...bean to bar. Terminology, taste, geography (10-15 minutes) 3) Tasting...taste various types of "raw materials" used to make chocolate truffles, white chocolate, dulce, milk chocolate, various percentages of dark chocolate up to 85% (20 - 30 minutes) 4) Making chocolates (the remainder) Informative, entertaining, delicious, and satisfying. It's a working kitchen, but doesn't take up a ton of space, so a six person class can be a bit cramped, but not uncomfortably so. There was plenty of space for each couple to follow instructions and hands-on. We first decorated molds using cocoa butter sprinkles (a la Jackson Pollock), then painted with an air brush, then made ganache and tempered chocolate and poured and scraped, cooled and broke molds, each couple taking home 24 BEAUTIFUL truffles. SB likes 'experience gifts', and this one was a great experience for us both. And the truffles WE made were amazing, so I can't imagine how good the ones Amanda (owner/chef) produces would be. Strongly encourage (think: valentine's day gift).

Boxes range anywhere from two to a box for $4.00 to about fifteen in a box for $30.00. Although they are grouped by category such as caramels, you are permitted to mix and match to your liking. I decided to opt for a champagne filled truffle and a dark chocolate one. They were box very nicely and I ate them when I got home. Believe me as always they are to die for! These chocolates are to be savored. Wine pairing also helps you enjoy the flavors better. I don't mind have to shelve out a little extra cash when I know something is extra special and believe me I have never been disappointed in any or their high end chocolates. If you are able to get to central Lawrenceville during the holiday season this place is a must if you want to get some of the best candy in the city. Amanda can also custom design a box using sports teams or beautiful art. This makes a great gift for someone who is indeed a chocolate lover.
