    Chesapeake Property Management

I've been a client of Chesapeake Property Management for almost two years now, and the experience…read morehas been outstanding. The right property management company will treat your property as if it's their own, and that's always been the case with Chesapeake. Whether it was handling issues with my tenant or ensuring I got my annual tax paperwork, their team has always approached my property with my best interests in mind while at the same time providing exceptional service to my tenant. In the few instances where there have been problems (most recently a leak in the ceiling) they were on top of the situation and my tenant was taken care of within a matter of hours, and I had emails with pictures of the damage waiting in my inbox. However, most of the time I honestly forget that I have a rental property, and that's the best compliment I can give Chesapeake. I trust completely that they are taking care of my property, and so far they have yet to let me down!

As an active-duty military service member stationed over 2,000 miles away, I trusted Chesapeake…read moreProperty Management and their real estate team to care for my home. That trust has been completely destroyed. After months of poor showing feedback, I repeatedly asked about the condition of my home and the reported odors. I was assured everything was fine and that it only needed a little paint and new carpet. Unable to get straight answers, I flew over 2,000 miles to inspect the property myself. What I found was unacceptable. The home was listed for sale in a filthy condition with an overwhelming dog urine odor. The laundry room and garage, where the dog had been confined, smelled terrible, and the damage to the laundry room door was obvious. These were not minor issues, and there is no way they went unnoticed. The most disappointing part is the lack of honesty and communication. Had anyone simply told me the truth, I would have immediately approved deep cleaning and repairs instead of allowing my home to sit on the market in a condition that likely drove buyers away. After paying Chesapeake Property Management for more than two years, I expected my investment to be protected--not neglected. I have lost all confidence in Linda, Mary, and everyone involved in managing and marketing my home. As a military family, we depend on property managers because we can't simply stop by to check on our homes. I should never have had to travel across the country just to learn the true condition of my own property. After seeing the condition of the home I fully understood why it did not sell, I myself would have never purchased this house in this condition.

Since David responds to negative reviews quicker than his maintenance staff responds to requests, I…read morefigured I'd share. I've left the maintenance ID in place but redacted the names and address. In case yelp removes the photo, 43228-1. This is a maintenance request opened 22 days ago where I asked if they could fix a tower bar or if I should hire someone myself. They assigned it to a technician the next day and scheduled "something" for the next day. Since then they have been completely silent. I've checked in multiple times to no avail. They do not call, they do not e-mail, they do not leave notes in their crappy portal. This is very similar to last year when my water heater failed in the cold of February. It took a month of me literally harassing them to get a service call placed and get them to authorize the repair. The technician got it working by bypassing safety settings, but since "it works" RW marked the call complete and I've never heard from them again. Not a stellar experience. Let's see how long this one takes to resolve. Update: They called and texted me this morning to arrange service. This seems quicker than their maintenance portal, but I'll update again once complete.

I would have to say that the communication from my rental manager (Rod Albancis) is atrocious. He…read moredoes not keep me abreast of anything. Sends generic emails but never returns a call or responds to an email. My renters moved out and I still cannot get ahold of him so I may voice my concerns and to figure out where my keys are. That, in addition to other comms that has broken down through the months. By far the worse customer service. I will make an attempt to sell my house but in the event I do not, I will not use Renters warehouse again.
