They push maintenance way too early. I took my car in for an oil change. They told me my brake…read morepads and rotors needed replaced 6,000 miles after they had installed them (anticipated life over 20,000 miles). My serpentine belt was cracked 19,000 miles after they had replaced it. (normal life 100,000 miles). They said that was because they had not replaced the tensioner when they replaced the belt. Replacing the tensioner is normally routine. They left a time bomb in their incomplete work the first time. I let the replace the belt and tensioner for $600. I took the car to the dealer the next day who said the breaks were fine.

I came in with quite a lot of work I…read moreneeded done with my car: the heater was weak, several plastic under panels were missing, many other panels were dragging across the concrete, lock actuator broken, emblem missing, etc. Like I'm sure many others had, I saw the great reviews for this shop and figured I would give them a try because the shop I regularly go to was booked a few weeks out. After dropping the car off, I would call week after week and was almost never answered. I left many voicemails and was never called back except for 1 or 2 times. The times I did manage to speak with someone, they gave me some completely made up timeline such as "We will have an estimate in 1-2 days" or "we will be done by Monday." None of these deadlines were ever met. I ended up being stuck without my car for nearly 5 weeks without any idea of its status. I was frustrated, but accepting because I really did not mind them taking such a ridiculously long time if they were completely renewing the car by fixing/replacing everything that needed it. I even would have paid a bit extra as well. So, finally, after 5 weeks of missed calls, made up deadlines, and almost no communication at all, I go in to pick it up. I look at the car before I go inside. Almost nothing visible is fixed. After inquiring inside, they tell me that they needed some more parts, which shocked me. I couldn't help but wonder what they were doing the past 5 week. They're just telling me they need more parts now? When I come to pick it up? They were able to do the bare minimum that I asked for, which was fix the plastic panels that were dragging on the concrete, but I do not believe for a second that what they did should have taken 5 whole weeks. Another key point is that they claimed they could not replicate the problems I was having with my door lock actuator, but immediately after I drove off the lot, the constant clicking of the door locks started again. So, I wonder if these guys were just trying to avoid working on it. For what they did complete, the price would have been fair if not for the outrageous 5 week waiting period and lack of any communication. I am extremely disappointed. Expected a lot more from these guys given the great reviews. The only reason I am not giving them 1 star is because they did go beyond expectations by fabricating a custom connector to replace a sensor wire to avoid having the replace the entire harness. Other than that, I will not be going back, and don't recommend this business to anyone else either.

I figured that any man who respects his wife that much would not let his mechanics be cruel, belittle, or lie to female customers. The owner and the manager are really nice men. They explain everything they are doing, which shows me that the process need not be a mystery and that they do not assume I know zip about cars. I was even offered a ride home one day when my car would have to stay at the shop over night. I only lived a mile away and was going to walk, but it was almost 100 degrees outside. There are only two things I wish were a little different: I wish the price of the oil change included the shop costs and the waste disposal (but I think doing it the way A-Plus Auto does is normal in the industry) and I wish that using the diagnostic tool didn't cost so much. Places like Auto Zone use a similar tool for free, though it isn't as specific. This also might be normal in the industry, but I always feel funny about a diagnosis tool that costs $50-$60 to use and then find it's a $7 part, for example. Overall, A PLUS!
