I recently switched from Charter/Spectrum to TDS in hopes that I would have positive experience. In the 3 months that I have been a customer there have been at least 3 outages. The current outage has lasted more than 12 hours. For remote employees this is crippling. Then I try to obtain an update via their chat service and after waiting some 20 minutes for an agent and entering my account information no less than 3 times the agent "Fatuma" loses patience with me because of how long my response took to compose, a total of 3 minutes and they disconnected me from the chat and ended the communication. So I try again and get through only to learn they cannot even tell me an estimated time for restoration let alone the reason for the outage. As a 20 year veteran of building fiber networks for ISP's if I ever gave such a lame excuse to one of my customers they would conclude business with me the next day. Nor would I ever accept that as a reasonable explanation from one of my upstream providers if it was offered. When an upstream provider for TDS has an outage TDS receives compensation for the downtime. Do you know what end customers will receive if TDS or one of their upstream providers fails to meet their service agreement? Nothing. I will be switching providers as soon as possible. When failures happen like this in terrestrial networks it is due to fire, negligence or catastrophic reasons and TDS should be transparent with their customers. This isn't a marine route in the Peugeot Sound with multiple breaks and the marine fiber crews are working night and day in stormy weather to restore service. Perhaps TDS should look at a more robust infrastructure and a network topology that lends itself to redundancy with all of the A-CAM grants funded by American taxpayers, instead of fast tracking poor designs that are prone to failure leaving the very people that not only subscribe to their services, but also helped fund the infrastructure that they rely on for work, business and entertainment read more

I very clearly have a NO SOLICITORS sign on my door. A gentleman knocked and started talking about trucks going to be in the area. He didnt want to give me the name of the company. I said I have a no solicitors sign and pointed to it. He said "oh im not soliciting". I said great, do you work for a company i have service from? He said "No, we provide internet...". I said, yea, your, soliciting. I asked the name of the company, he refused to give it or his name as a matter of fact. Disappoionted, on install. Just got the service about 10 days ago ordered TV and Internet. So young man comes out to install and set up first thing I notice not a TDS employee, Driving his own vehicle, and wear a high desert broad band shirt was a little worried at that point. We were his last stop for the day before he was heading home, and he was in a hurry to get done. Not sure he knew the equipment all that well. He was polite and respectfully but my wife and I are 75 years old and not real tech savy. He was no help basically he finish handed me the remote and said just watch channel one and thats that. We have been struggling with picture quality and remote problems ever since It seems TDS subcaontract to other companys and they are really only interested in getting done and getting paid. Not sure the service would have been better from a TDS employee but I tend to think so. not sure we will keep the service at this point. read more

DON'T USE TDS. Upon requesting cancelation of internet service on the 4th of March, TDS insists we must pay the ENTIRE month of March. They will not pro-rate, TDS service is awful and they are $20 a month higher than Ziply for the same service. read more

Horrible service from the start. Tech over the phone was rude and condescending. Got to the point where I just hung up and ordered the service online which was 10 mins faster than the phone call. Placed the scheduled install around the 9th. Spoke with the vendor company Tech Westshore who would do the line bury and scheduled for 1pm as we had work to do. Verified for that time but the crew showed up at 9am. None of them spoke english. We don't speak spanish. Called the company and told them the issue and they confirmed the appointment time should have been 1pm AND should have called prior. TDS themself shows up at 1 to do the install but cant cause the line isnt buried. Spoke to TDS manager, he suggested having the TDS agent run a temporary line from the curb to the house but that in itself is a horrible idea to leave an exposed wire, even if shielded and for who knows how long. Spoke with the Tech westshore team about the issues with their team who showed up late. Just cancelling the whole plan because no one knows how to plan anything or talk to any other team at TDS. read more

This sounds like a great product and is substantially less expensive than centurylink. I called centurylink and they confirmed the internet speed they offered could not compete with TDS fiber. Absolutely terrible - terrible customer service - lies about what they can provide, lock you into contracts and then don't deliver on their side of the promised services, after 2 years from initial account opening, only receiving HALF of the physical products and services that were supposed to be installed, giving up, and deciding to go with another company, then they want to charge almost $4000 in early termination fees. We have an email thread of over 30 emails with 5 different people who refuse to provide the services that are on our contract with excuse after excuse as to why they cant, and they still don't think that we are justified in wanting to cancel our service. They went weeks or even months at times not replying to emails, even with management staff on the thread. DO NOT ever sign a contract with this company. You guys suck. TDS came to install service for my neighbor, they asked if they could access my yard and hook up fiber on the telephone pole in my yard. I said yes. Somehow they disconnected my internet and now won't send someone to come fix it. "We don't repair or touch other companies internet lines" -TDS customer service. I received 3 different answers when I used the TDS customer service so thought I would try the local office in Cda. I was delightfully surprized at the service I received from John. I don't use TDS nor will I after what they did . On 7/25/2025 the knocked on my door to request access to my back yard to continue hanging their internet line I said yes and even brought the two linemen a sweet tea to drink as it was in the 90s . While out in my back yard I heard a loud cracking noise which was a tree branch that they broke with long metal pole with a hook on the end of it . I went inside thinking they would deal with any branches they broke . I was wrong !!! The left the large branch barely hanging on , and over 2 wires. I called TDS customer care on Monday the agent informed me "it isn't TDS branch " it isn't my tree it's my neighbors but the limb they broke leans into my yard . I had to request a Supervisor who assured me it would be taken care of on Tuesday . Well the lineman simply went up his ladder and yanked the branch down and left it in my yard . He informed me he didn't have a chain saw so I'm left to find a chainsaw and or pay to take to the dump . My mind is just blown . When I tried to talk to him about this he said call century link ha ha ha why would I call century link ? They have never been in my back yard . TDS did this . And TDS will never be allowed access into my back yard again or my neighbors yard . I have made sure to tell everyone along my street so they don't grant them access to. Neighbor also had problem and they put in splitter on MY connection on top of yard even though we both pay for own connection. DO NOT use TDS Telecommunications LLC and TDS Telecommunications Corporation for your internet provider. Fun story, I have been monitoring when fiber would be available in my area, and for about a year, their website and their site said it was available as did their account reps when I called. I scheduled TDS Telecommunications LLC to come out and install fiber and cancel my existing account with Quantum Fiber the same day or be charged another month. The technician comes out, cuts holes in my wall, runs the fiber line, and attaches a unit to the outside of our house and when he tries to get it started... oops it is not in our area yet and come to find out won't be for another YEAR or so. I spoke to Josh White TDS Telecommunications LLC who is a Supervisor of sales and agreed, oops they made a mistake and said he would follow up but never did until I sent an email to remind him to follow up. Now I have to call Quantum Fiber back and schedule my service to be started back up. OH, sorry, it will be an additional 3 days to get this installed, even though it is already installed it just needs to be activated again. I spoke to their sales department supervisor Coral and she says the only thing they can do is credit me $75 when I have the service turned on.. WHAT in a YEAR potentially? Now I have to wait until their service department contacts me about scheduling the repairs. Should only take a year but most likely they have the parts since they probably make this mistake often. On February 4th between 4:45-5:15pm, the driver of this vehicle sat in the Arby's drive thru lane YELLING at and berating the restaurant employees for a FULL 30 MINUTES, which effectively held several people hostage behind them, myself included. Whatever happened at the restaurant, this driver REFUSED to move their vehicle from the lane, and cost me time and money in the work I was supposed to be doing that evening. TDS installed fiber in our neighborhood back in May and damaged my and two other homes mailboxes. They fixed one of the mailboxes but accused us for damaging the mailbox stand. Ultimately, I had to repair the damage months later before the stand had completely broken and the mailbox would be on the ground. This comany has not integrity, and even though it was a sub-contactor that caused the damage, they would not take responsibility for damage! I will never, and would never reccomend this company if this is how they stand behind their services! read more

They get one star because you have to, if I had my choice it would be negative stars. Where to start, totally dishonest company to work with. The TV buffers constantly during evening hours, their weak routers do not cover my house, the DVR function has very limited storage, it goes black for 30 seconds or so multiple times during playback, the picture comes back and you lost all content from when it was black screen. Their billing if dishonest and used to extort "Special Fees", if you don't pay and ask why I am being charged, you get another late fee each month, last time it took them 5 months to answer my question, and the new provider is already coming to install. Very inconsistent Internet stability. You just can't rely on it. Calling them for information on outages has never resulted in anything informative. They always create a ticket for tech to come out. The tech that we've had has been very good. But TDS overall, they're online data info for your usage, they're outage information, etc... It all is very poor quality. read more

We didn't order TDS fiber, it could been the last tenants, and yet unsolicited, they came to our home, opened our back gate, and planted their flags... leaving our back gate semi opened. They sprayed Orange paint next to our driveway, and close to our neighbors property line. Couldn't find a contact number, found it though an HOA site on Google. After trying to contact them, a few days later, they came and removed their flags. I told them I would not have been responsible if my dog was out in the back and someone got bit. I accused them of trespassing. They apologized. They are still sending their representatives to our neighborhood. They are unethical. I don't trust or recommend this company. read more

This company is very slow, unprofessional & lacks major customer service. I was with them for over 2 years, they raised my monthly fee. I called and spoke to a so called "specialist" who was not informative and could not explain or process anything properly and was unwilling to work with a long term customer. I decided to cancel my service and she did it instantly. I didn't even get to finish my billing cycle and I STILL GOT CHARGED for the whole cycle. They were extremely rude and wouldn't even work with me on the final bill. For some reason I decide to come back and give them another chance but when I spoke to another "specialist" after getting transferred and put on hold after every single question I asked. She told me to start my service again it would be $115 a month. My bill was only supposed to be $77. I explained that to her and she didn't understand, didn't listen and kept saying it would be $115. Completely reluctant to help, I said I'm not doing that and didn't sign up. Later that day I get an email for ANOTHER BILL. Mind you I just paid and wasted $70 on internet I didn't receive. Finally Yesterday October 17th 2023, I was able to get thru to someone in charge at TDS FIBER! My wife signed us up for internet with them back in JULY! They came at the end of July and hooked all our neighbors up. There Foreman that morning on sight said they were going to hook us up that day as well. 5PM came that day and they said some "BULL SHIT" about they couldn't hook us up that day and would be back into Weeks. after 2 weeks nothing. after several months of been "DICKED" around and fed a bunch of garbage I was able to talk to someone in Charge on this day October 16th 2023 and now after 3 months since been signed up and them Hook our neighbors up on Thrush Street in Green Bay Wisconsin they are finally coming next Thursday! And all I got fed was more "BULL SHIT" about why it took 3 months and "ME" Calling them when it was set up 3 months ago! October 18th 2023, OH! What a surprise! Now My wife gets a message from TDS Fiber saying we are been delayed again! After we waited on TDS Fiber 3 Months for them to hook us up when they where supposed to hook us up the same time the did our Neighbors. And then My wife went to log into our TDS Fiber account and she has been "BANNED! "WTF"! We had service with TDS a couple of years ago, but we didn't need a router, so we were supposed to have a $10 discount per month. I noticed on our first bill that we were getting overcharged $10 per month, so I called about it and asked if that was the rate we agreed to, as I believed the rate was a bit too high. They said no, that is the rate we agreed on. I thought something was wrong, but because we were getting ready for a trip, I just let it go, because I didn't want to spend hours on the phone after I looked up the original contract and basically forgot about it. Several months later we were going to be traveling for an extended trip, so I called and asked if we could pause our service for 4 months months since we would not be using the service while gone. The pause was approved, but at very little discount. When we got back to resume our service, I asked about our charges and found out that we were being charged for the router we didn't have since the beginning of our service. Now we had been charged 10 months for a router we never had. The receptionist said she thought we would be reinbursed for that, but a manager came on and said that after review, he would give us half of what we had been overcharged, as we should have noticed the over charge and brought it to there attention on the first billing. I dropped TDS after that discussion. It has been nearly 2 years since then. Our neighborhood has few options for internet services, so we tried a few, but our latest was getting poor reception as we have too many trees between our home and the wifi tower, so we decided to see if we could find something better. TDS sent us a flyer in the mail for $29.95/month for 3 years, 300MBPS for 3 years. I was reluctant about TDS, but that sounded like a good deal. So, I called and asked about the deal. The receptionist said that their best deal was $45/month. She didn't know what I was tallking about in the flier that I just received. I asked for a manager. He came on and said after taking about 15-30 minutes to read the fine print on the back. There are add ons to the monthly price. In other words the flier was just false advertisement to get people to call in, not really intending to provide the advertised price. It seems that TDS is interested in one thing...getting you using their service so they can charge you more and more for ever. As a service provider, TDS is interested in one thing...MONEY. read more

Beware!!!! First I had to tolerate years of junk mail and hype about TDS coming to my neighborhood. I liked the idea of fiber optics to my house since I work from home. Not only did TDS break a sprinkler line when they originally installed the fiber optics to my house, they put it on the wrong side of my house. When the installer came, he couldn't do anything until they came back and changed it to the correct side of the house. It took several MONTHS for my broken sprinkler line to be fixed by the 3rd party contractors they use that broke it. The bill has about tripled since I originally signed up. It worked fine when it worked but I spent most of my time looking at a spinning "loading" circle spin when trying to watch TV. Whenever I called customer service their only solution was for me to unplug my cable box and routers and plug them back in. When I cancelled my TV & internet services w/them they told me I can't return the equipment to a TDS store, even though I drive by one every day, because they don't accept returns. I was told that I have to pay $21.99 for insurance to mail the equipment back in the boxes they provided w/prepaid postage. I cancelled my internet on the 1st day of a billing cycle so they charged me for the entire month. Just their policy I was told. It is criminal to me to be charged for services I didn't receive. This has been the worst experience I've ever had with a cable company. Good riddance to TDS. read more

This is an update to my previous TDS review. I recommend reading that review too. We've subscribed to TDS for over two years. The internet service has been pretty reliable, although it seems a bit slower than advertised. However, our only ongoing issue has been their billing department. On multiple occasions they claim not to have received our payment, which we always submit about 3 weeks before the deadline. As a result, they charge a $10 late fee. Each time, I've called the company to complain, and miraculously the check is cashed a couple days later. They still charge $10 but give a credit on the subsequent bill. They also charge a $4 convenience fee for speaking with a representative over the phone. This has happened multiple times, so it's clear there's a problem in their finance department. They seem to be very slow to process payments, which triggers a late fee. Very annoying. Ironically, this week we received two letters from TDS on the same day. The first was a mass-mail postcard saying that we're overpaying for internet, and it encouraged us to call a TDS 800-number. The second letter informed us that we passed the 24-month mark and they raised our subscription price by $20 per month! So I called their 800-number and spoke with someone in India. After explaining the irony and my frustration that they increased my bill by $20 per month, they offered to only increase my bill by $10 per month for one year. Then the bill will increase again. Other than the billing problems and our rate increase, we've been generally satisfied with TDS's internet service. We would give them 2.5 stars. They're still infinitely better than Spectrum. read more

I have been with tds for 5 years or so. I only used there internet services. everything was fine happy with price and service. then one day sept 18, 2024 a guy named Bryan Rathmuson knocked on the door and offered me $10 off my monthly bill if I bundled a phone line to my service. He assured me nothing would change otherwise in my service and didnt need to actually use the line if I didn't want to. what he failed to mention is that my account would be cancelled and started under a new account number. went through some typical sales mumbo jumbo and had me sign a digital signature. then said he loved giving tds customers an early Christmas gift. 3 months later to my surprise i come home after new years and my service is cancelled. I call tds to figure out the problem. they are very rude tell me I'm calling on a cancelled account and that they can't help any further. ask to be transferred to a supervisor and 20 mins later he says he will credit back what I paid on my old account (thanks). but I will still owe the remaining late fees and missed payments on my new account of which I just found out was about. $460 dollars. then he informs me my new payment is $99 a month which was $2 more than my old account, which was supposed to be $10 less. when asked he said he could switch back the pricing but it would take more time to turn back on service. I cancelled all services. will eat the $160 ish in fees after they refund the money I paid on my other account and wash my hands of this company. some of the worst customer service I've encountered with a service provider. read more
