I can only speak from my own experience, not the horror stories I've heard from others. Overall, this was a cute outing, but I probably wouldn't return. It was nice being a tourist in my own city, getting cute and girly with friends, and doing something different for the experience. The bus was on time, which I appreciated. The food, however, tasted a bit stale, and the entertainment on the bus was honestly kind of boring. I think the mic wasn't working well the afternoon we went because instead of sounding like singing, it came across more like screeching. The tea was cold, almost like iced tea, but I actually didn't mind because we were going over so many potholes. Hot tea spilling on me would've been a whole situation. Was it overpriced for the experience? Yes. But I got some good Instagram pics, had a cute day with my friends, and checked it off my list. read more

I was left, all dressed up, a mother in tow, sitting on the sidewalk on Pennsylvania Ave in DC, bc this pathetic con job left us stranded there. We had tickets for the "fancy" noon sightseeing bus. They told us to be there at least 15 min in advance. Dozens of ladies dressed to the nines - Derby hats and all. At 11:46, they texted us: Bus broke down. Trip canceled. ON MOTHER'S DAY. I should've listened to all the bad reviews. Holiday ruined, especially for the many women I talked to who drove in from up to 2 hours away. I had read the prior TripAdvisor reviews and had my suspicious on the legitimacy of this company and today solidified those beliefs. My aunt had booked a large group of us, (over ten people) for a tea bus for a bridal shower for a cousin more than 4 months ago. We gathered today to meet the bus around 11:45 and once we arrived someone said the company had sent an email that our time slot was cancelled with under an hours notice! This company seems to run a scam, see other reviews that point out the condition of the buses and their more than regular cancellations. I feel more for the tourists that come to the area and want to see DC sites on a fun tea experience and are let down with the lack of coordination and communication with their passengers. What was even more frustrating is after we had lunch at a nearby restaurant and on our way out of the city we saw the tea bus picking up another group.. so clearly they were operating today just on the certain time slots they want to operate. . I love tea, so I am always looking for new ways to experience. So when I got the opportunity to go to Tea Around Town, I had to take it. The experience started off rocky. We had a 12pm tour that told us to arrive 15 minutes early. The bus did not show up until 12:05. It wasn't a long wait but it was 30 degrees outside. Everyone on the bus got there early and the bus was late. Once you get on the bus, they tell you which booths to sit in. At your booth, they have the food already set out for you. Each person gets 4 finger sandwiches, a crostini, deviled egg, 4 desserts and 2 scones, if you do the petite tea experience. I found it to be a good amount of food, I did not leave hungry. The food is not incredible quality, but for being on a bus, I found it pretty good. Like the sandwiches were a bit dry, but overall tasty. For the teas, each person gets a travel tumbler (that you get to take home) that they put our teas in. They gave each of us 5 different teas to try throughout the tour. The flavors were pretty good, I enjoyed all of them except for the raspberry hibiscus. The bus takes you around the national mall and then onto other parts of the district near the mall. The narrator of the tour does give you some facts and points out different significant places that you pass. They also sang us a few songs while we were driving. The driver did a good job, though at times it was hard to eat and drink while the bus turned or started/stopped. The bus itself is a bit worn in parts. Some of the seats had stains, the floor was coming up in parts. It could use a little maintenance. I'm glad to have gotten to experience the tea bus once, I don't think I would do it again. Perfect activity for a mother-daughter date!! This was my mom's birthday gift to me last year, and we had an absolute blast. The inside of the bus is pink and covered in flowers, so we literally felt like fairies the entire time. It's an especially fun experience if you're visiting D.C. from out of town, since the route takes you past all the iconic landmarks. The tour guide does a great job sharing history and fun facts while keeping everything light and entertaining. The singer on the bus is PHENOMENAL and even gave me a Happy Birthday serenade LOL - truly made my day. I will say, if you're expecting Michelin-level food or an abundant tea service, this might not be it. For the price, I did wish the food and tea were a bit more elevated. That said, when you factor in the city tour, live musical entertainment, amount of food, and the adorable pink cups you get to keep, it's a really cute experience and definitely worth doing for the one time! Tea Around Town? More like Hot Mess Express. I had a ticket for the 12pm tour on April 4th. It was me and 3 friends. We received notification that the tour would start at 12:30pm. It was disappointing to see that it would not start on time, but we hoped it would be worth the wait... newsflash: it was NOT worth the wait. A bus arrived at 12:00pm and I thought that maybe we would leave at 12:15pm instead of 12:30pm. Unfortunately, that bus was for the 11:00am tour. It was clear they were running behind, so I just knew the 12:30pm time was not feasible. I think once it neared 12:30pm, we received another text stating that the bus would now arrive at 1:15pm. At that time, my friends and I decided to check out a nearby restaurant for a quick bite and a DRANK because it was needed for this nonsense. We made it back to the bus stop area at 1:00pm. At 1:15pm we received a message that the bus was on the way and nearby. The bus did not arrive until 2:00pm!!! TWO HOURS LATE! No type of refund was provided for this inconvenience. We all had plans later in the afternoon that either had to be canceled or adjusted because we really wanted to spend time together on this tea bus. At 2:00pm we boarded and things got worse. The bus HAD NO WORKING AC. It was nearly 90 degrees outside so imagine how it felt being boxed in. It was like a sauna. Many of us were so irritable because it was so hot. We were sweaty, red in the face, and just ready to get this over with. Not only that, but icing on the dessert was melting and some of the food was dairy based and looked like it just been sitting out for hours. The bread was also stale. This was the worst experience ever and this was supposed to be nice girls afternoon. Our host, Joseph, maintained a positive attitude despite the heat and irritable patrons. He deserves a raise! He sang beautifully and gave us as much water and ice that we requested, until the ice ran out. I appreciated his good attitude. All in all, save your money. We paid to have 5 tastings and had 3 tea tasting. I asked for another cup and was assured I'd receive it but then the tour ended and the server never came back. It was a cold and windy day and the bus arrived 42 minutes after the recommended arrival time for guests. After waiting 20 minutes on the bus a text was sent saying the bus was 10 minutes away, it took them 22 additional minutes to arrive. After arriving, we then had to wait in the cold for an additional 5 minutes while the team "prepared". You are forced to download an app to obtain tickets and the. As you enter the bus you don't need the ticket just need to give your name. Tables were assigned which was nice, but it would be nice to customize your menu. The food was typical tea food, everything was edible except the deviled egg. There are really no kid friendly option, so for kids to pay full price it seems like an excessive costs. Based on the tardiness, everyone should have been upgraded to the luxe package. The microphone was not working majority of the time so we could not hear what was being said most of the time. If I had never been to DC I would be disappointed to miss the fun facts. Tziah was great and had great energy, but it wasn't enough to make up for the experience. We were promised 5 tea tastings and we only received 4 the last one was stepping off the bus so no sugar or other additions available. I'm not a tea party kind of girl but I have friends who are. And just in case I have to answer a question in " Never Have Ever" or an ice breaker bingo game..I got it covered. Boarding begins in front of the National Archive Center. The pink tea party theme is evident throughout the bus. The narrated tour drives near the most iconic places like the Lincoln Memorial, White House, etc. Once the tour begins an staffer begins pouring teas into a cup that will be your to take home. They come by with about 5 teas throughout so you could sample them all. There are 3-tiered trays on the table and it allows one sample per person of each bite. It's more than enough in my opinion. Guests can dress as tea partied as they want or come as casual as they want. Dressing up with hats or " fasteners" as I learned enhances the fun and experience. Most importantly, sharing your experience with friends and family makes it worthwhile. There were a couple of men on the tour with their families. They survived! I observed more men on the next scheduled tour. Father/daughter activity? You'd definitely score brownie points with this one if your daughter or granddaughter is into this type of thing. We decided to take my mom to the Tea Around Town Bus tour for her birthday celebration and was quite disappointed. We purchased the Lux package totaling $153 per ticket. The tour was supposed to be 75 mins and only was under one hour. We were informed the bus leaves promptly at 5pm however we did not take off until 5:17pm. We arrived back at our pickup location at 6:08pm which was not 75 mins. Additionally, during the bus tour the audio was not working so where we were sitting (in the back) could not hear. Also, we did not get through all the teas and teas that were offered were not hot. The host was very nice and sweet and she kept apologizing however my mom did enjoy the experience and ambiance. This is just a heads up if you want to experience an actual tea party I would suggest exploring other options. What a fun idea and I'm so glad my friends and did this fun activity! We had a nice table above the driver and the food was waiting for us as we sat down. I'd give the food about a 5/10 - good selection but very bare minimum. The sweets were not that good. I felt a little let down with the tea situation.. they walk around throughout the trip and offer you a tiny bit of tea. We had them stop by 4 times and they poured a different flavor each time (you don't get to choose). One of them was completely cold although was supposed to be warm. I would like this more if they just have you one full pour of the flavor you want. I wanted to catch up with friends but that was a little difficult over the singing, talking and clapping going on. I do understand this is a sight seeing tour and I appreciated the call out to the tour sights but there was too much sound and noise going on the whole tour. The tour guide has a great voice but at times I just wanted a break to have a conversation with my friends at my table! Save your money, do not go to Tea Around Town. It is a rip off, safety issues and stale/ spoiled food. You only will only receive sample portions of the 5 teas offered and it is poured into a tumbler. Not even a cute tea cup for "Tea Around Town" to enjoy. The last sample of tea was pour as we exited the bus. The steps to enter the bus is unsafe and narrow. We had to hoist our senior aunt up the steps. Totally unsafe. We also found a lock of hair on one of our deserts and the host attempted to replace the single dessert with the hair on it and not the entire tray. I could go on and on about our experience but i think you get my drift. Do not waste your money. We were not even on the bus for the 75 minutes for the luxe package. The Bad There was a discrepancy with another group which caused the bus to leave about 20 minutes late. The lady from that group made an announcement about not being sat together. The staff attempted to accommodate. Then the air condition seemed to stop working as we got further in the trip and it was hot on the bus. The Ugly The food needs improvement (excluding a few items and the desserts). I wasn't expecting the best, but for the price point it should be edible. The sandwiches were stale and tasted like they had been sitting out. You get a small drop of about four different teas in your souvenir mug. The mocktail had a familiar taste like communion juice. Please get a new vendor immediately or lower the price and allow patrons to bring their own food and drinks. In conclusion This is a tourist trap. The price is not worth the tour and food. Our boarding time was 2:30pm and the bus arrived 30 minutes late!! By the time we got seated it was 3:30pm before we finally pulled off. We had other things planned for our day that got derailed. On to the appetizers and the conditions on the bus. It was SO hot on the bus everyone was asking for water instead of the hot tea they were planning to serve. The water was served in glass bottles but that even arrived room temperature. The appetizers consisted of deviled eggs, mini tuna or chicken salad, cucumber, and egg salad sandwiches which with the heat didn't look safe to eat! Even the pastries were melting. That's how hot it was on the bus! We were told the air conditioning was on but we never felt a breeze! The pastries at the bottom of the tier were just ok. The tour had no guidance so we had to figure out what we were looking at on our own. The best thing was our server Dia who was that pleasant and very apologetic about the conditions and the cold sparkling apple cider and tea that was served thank goodness! Extremely disappointed with our Tea Around Town DC experience on April 3 with TopView Sightseeing. My daughter and I drove nearly 3 hours to Washington, DC for what was supposed to be a special cherry blossom and monuments tea tour, only to arrive and find the bus broken down. The driver was outside trying to repair the air conditioning while on WhatsApp receiving instructions. We arrived at 5:20 PM for a scheduled 5:30 PM departure, but the bus did not return for boarding until around 7:15 PM after multiple delay text messages. When we finally boarded, the conditions were unacceptable: * The air conditioning was still not working properly, and the bus was extremely hot inside * My daughter became lightheaded from the heat * The restroom was unsanitary, with no running water, little soap, and no paper towels * The food had clearly been sitting in excessive heat -- the chocolate mousse was melting and the lobster smelled spoiled * The scanner for ticket check-in was broken, causing further delays For health and safety reasons, we had to leave after boarding and could not take the tour. What makes this even more frustrating is that I have attempted to contact customer support 4-5 times through their website with no meaningful response. This was an unacceptable and poorly managed experience, especially for something marketed as a premium sightseeing event. I cannot recommend this tour based on what we experienced. read more

During that time, there was little to no communication from staff. No one could give us clear answers or updates, and we were left waiting with no direction or accommodations. When the bus finally arrived, it had no air conditioning. We then spent about 75 minutes riding in those conditions, which was incredibly uncomfortable and really diminished the overall experience. I purchased tickets on Tea Around Town to take my mom out for Mother's Day. I thought it be better to do the Saturday before Mother's Day as opposed to on Mother's Day. They were running 30 minutes behind and I wasn't aware of this until I presented the QR code at the time we were supposed to board. When the bus did arrive and we began boarding, I overheard that the bus's restroom was not working (there is no public restroom or portable toilet at the pickup and drop off location). For the tour to be 75 minutes and featuring different flavors of tea I wasn't sure how that was going to go-I'm glad I hadn't had anything to drink all day before this. I purchased the lux package and everything was tasty. I don't eat beef so I let my mom have the sandwiches that included steak. I wasn't sure if this would be touristy but it was cool. Tickets are purchased in advance online. You have to download an app to access tickets on your phone. The QR code is scanned to gain entry onto the bus. The meeting location and drop off location are the same, near a metro stop. Only the top portion of the bus is used for patrons and it's rather short, so be prepared to duck. It's a non-refundable event so think twice before you purchase. The ride is total 75 mins with 15 mins to board. The person on the mic will describe major landmarks but we couldn't hear her because the mic was too low AND they had music playing. When there were no landmarks to describe, she emcee sang. We were served 3 teas, no refills, although our waiter said we would receive 5 teas. The tea was tasty but it was only a swallow. Food left much to be desired. The chicken salad and roast beef sandwiches were the best items on the plates. The deviled egg and mushroom toast were my least favorite. They lacked flavor. The cucumber sandwich could've benefited from some honey ham. The chocolate covered frozen strawberry was defrosting, so the strawberry was much but the chocolate outside was still hard. The cheesecake bites were really good and even the puff pastry was good, although that one isn't my jam. I would recommend switching out the entire menu to meats and cheeses instead of finger sandwiches. Like other touristy guided events, you meet-up outside, so dress appropriately. I believe the hype is how cute the bus is decorated on the inside with pink decorations and how beautiful the outside of the bus is. I wouldn't do this again, in any city. read more

Cute! This experience was a fun girls day activity, but would have been better if we received what was advertised. The bus was waiting at the appropriate time and boarding was quick. You have to download an app for the tickets, which is a little inconvenient. All of the food is already on the table: finger foods. The menu is on the website. We WERE NOT served what we paid for (the luxe). The Prestigious Pearls of Caviar was NOT served. The lobster roll was sparse with about 1/2 the amount of lobster than that is depicted on the website. The Napoleon Alaska also had about 1/2 the amount of salmon than what's pictured online and was not served on toasted rye (it was on a blini). The Garden Gala Chicken Soirée has a very thin layer of chicken salad (thinner than one slice of the bread that it was on, for perspective). The Triple Crown Steak Stack was just one layer, which didn't match the description at all. The Earthly Elegance Crostini didn't look at all like what is advertised. The mushroom was minced to an unappetizing mush and was on a blini instead of the roasted baguette. The Ferrero Velvet Delight did NOT include a Ferrero chocolate. We did NOT receive the Emerald Dream at all. The Empire City Cheesecake did NOT include a berry. The Adirondack Preserves were NOT provided. Instead, we got a pack of Smuckers jelly. I let corporate know what happened and was offered a hop on hop off bus in NYC or London as compensation. I asked for a full refund. They don't do refunds, which is very unfortunate. I'm glad they acknowledged my disappointment and tried to make amends. The upside: the hostess was amazing and such a pleasant soul. Thank you so much to Carmen! My friend and I picked the higher end package which was about $150ish. For this price point it was insane to serve stale food. Also, don't expect the bus to be on time. It was 45 mins behide. Tea Around Town was an awful experience. The only reason I'm giving it two stars is due to the staff who handled everything as best as they could. The food is below average, but the bus was sweltering, making the food warm. Given that a lot of it contained dairy we were scared to eat the majority of it, and half of it was stale. A child on board got sick, and since it's a moving vehicle, there was vomit sloshing over the table and running up the aisle, which is a sight I will never be able to scrub from my mind. On a hot bus, the smell was abhorrent. You're not on the bus for a full 90 minute, for us it was barely an hour, but we were honestly glad to get off at that point. We paid for the 'luxe' package and didn't receive the mocktail. I emailed the company asking for a partial refund since we paid for something we didn't receive and got a firm "Sorry, no returns or exchanges". I absolutely do not recommend Tea Around Town. There are so many better places around DC to actually have an enjoyable afternoon tea. read more

Although the idea of a cute ladies day in a pink bus sounds great, unfortunately that is not what occurred on the day that my friend and I went. The gentleman checking us in was not in attire, other than a pink hat, that would say this is a fancy pink ladies event. There was no one taking pictures prior to onboarding and because they were late, We were rushed onto the bus that was boiling hot. So hot that the food on the table was wilted by the time we sat down. Another miss, although I am sure their thoughts were in the right place, was that the tour guide singing, not well, along the way. The young man who was pouring tea, kept backing into our table. Very strange. Tea's were a tasting vice being able to select one to sip on the tour. They brought out shrimp and avocado on a chip. Avocado was brown and the chips were stale. Positives, some of the desserts were good and They gave out to go boxes that were cute and the tea cups. We were only on the bus for 60 minutes. And it was miserably hot. Red faces everywhere. I mentioned it to the young lady that was our tour guide and she went down stairs to let someone know. She came back up with the gentleman, who checked us in, and he opened up the top vent openings but it was still hot.! Not a well planned out tour and bus maintenance needs to be looked at. Recommend the owners watch the video of Dec 26th, 3pm tour, if they were working. Because I'm a great husband - really one of the best - I got the missus and I tix for the tea bus for Christmas. Saturday, noon appointment. We're hanging outside Archives with a dozen or so other folks. Get a text, the bus is coming at 1. A smidge annoying but really, not worth kvetching about. Turns out one bus had mechanical probs so they had to get out another. Hey, things happen. Anyway, we board the bus. Inside is kinda nice in a fun-cheesy way - flower decor everywhere, pink and white booths. Dug the bus-length sunroof. Each table had the pre-ordered sandwiches and pastries. The staff brought around rounds of tea and, to start, a mocktail. So for an hour the bus drives around the touristy areas, you nibble on sandwiches and drink different kinds of tea - five teas total. The staff point out various historical buildings and monuments and also sing a couple songs. Tipping is encouraged at the end of the trip. We wondered if we'd be still hungry afterward, but we bought the Luxe food package and were stuffed. The Petite is probably fine for a couple. The sound system was a bit crummy, with the mic cutting in and out. Overall a fun thing. The missus seemed to really enjoy it. read more

I went on the DC tour when it was in the upper 80's. They didn't bother to tell us the air conditioning wasn't working. It was ridiculously hot and everyone was just wanting it to be over. We barely had any tea (they only give a few sips) and the water was tepid. The food wasn't bad but we really couldn't eat much. This company is awful - they should've told us about the AC and given us a chance to reschedule. I came from Texas and my best friend flew from Ohio and we are so excited for this tea bus tour. We dressed up for the photoshoot. So here's our unpleasant experiences. BUS WAS LATE! ONLY ONE IS HOSTING BECAUSE THE OTHER PERSON didn't Show up. So it was unorganized we were like where's our table? No number assigned on the table. We just picked our table and people started eating their food (got hungry waiting) but i did not touch our food because I wasn't sure if the table we were are ours because we paid the luxury one. We found out it's not our table but our designated table was already eaten the appetizer by someone else's who knows who. The host name i think Dia was so helpful and trying his best to accommodate all women who are starting to get their opinions about the late, the AC , the music etc.. I feel so sorry for him to take all that complains. AC IS NOT WORKING! We are so hot and sweaty! They should cancel the tour if AC is not working! The music system is not helping but added to the stress of the tour. They need to check their speakers. Music is like complaining as well not being taking care of. Driver suddenly stopped on stop light and our water bottles and sandwiches flew out of our table, glad i was quick to hold our stuff but bottles was on the floor! TOO HOT THAT WE NEVER GET THE CHANCE TO DRINK ENJOY THE TEA!! NO TEA!! we beg for water instead. The price we pay for this trip was too expensive! The food is like prepackaged prepared a day before. I was too scared to eat the devils eggs and some seafood sandwiches everything was melting, i hope no one got sick from eating those eggs. ( Someone can do legal action due to food poisoning) WE DID NOT RECEIVE ANY APOLOGY EMAILS FROM THAT DAY EVENT, THE OWNER KNOWS! HONESTLY THE CONCEPT WAS GREAT BUT THE MANAGEMENT WAS HORRIBLE! I am extremely disappointed with Tea Around Town and their customer service. I've emailed multiple times trying to upgrade our options and have received zero response. They list a phone number, but you can't actually reach a real person--it just directs you back online to submit requests, which go unanswered. It's frustrating and unacceptable, especially for a service that requires planning ahead. Communication is basic customer service, and they've completely failed at it. Based on this experience, I would not recommend using this company. Poor service like this makes it not worth the hassle. read more

This is the worse experience, if I could leave a zero star i would. I bought three tickets for this excursion to introduce a 5 year old to having a tea party and to see the sites of DC. The day we had reservations was going to be cold and rainy so I wanted to reschedule. First it was dufficukt contacting anyone from this company, then the information that was needed was suppose to be in the co formation email was not there, and finally the phone number provided led you back to the website that provided very little help. After figuring out how to send a message and providing as much information as possible customer service gor back in touch with two days later telling me I had to pay $173 to make a change. Because this was a birthday gift I agreed and gave them the new date and time. Then I am waiting, and waiting and it us a week away from the new date i requested and I still have not received the new tickets. I reached out again, first by replying to the email that requested I pay $173, then back to the website and submitted another customer service form. Finally someone sent another email to tell me the date I requested is full. I give them another date and the waiting game is happening again. I have sent emails and several of their customer service forms and no reply and the new date is two weeks away. Be wary of this company, horrible customer service. The bus was on time and the crew members were friendly. I was on the bus with Q. There was a live singer and decor looked like the photos. The food was not spectacular- 3 and the views were repetitive- 2 we circled the monument several times! We should have had shots for every time we saw the monument. The experience was nice though and we have photo memories of a good time. Get dressed up and enjoy the time with someone you want to talk to or prepare to be bored. read more

My family and I were really excited about this because it was my daughter's 13th birthday. This was the only thing she wanted to do. We traveled 4 hrs paid for parking, and paid for the most expensive package. We stood out there with another family waiting for the bus only to learn that they sent an email canceling the tour. The most ridiculous thing was that they only offered to give us 50% of what we paid. They offered another tour at another time but we travelled to experience this and we're leaving town soon. So that's out. If I could rate this a 0 I would. I do not recommend this at all. I wasted a lot of time and money and also had to console my daughter. read more

I've seen so many advertisements on this fun excursion with a twist. If you are a Bridgerton fan or simply love tea and sightseeing then this activity is for you. In your confirmation email you will receive the location to meet up at to board the bus. Boarding is about 15/20 mins before departure. With the luxe option you supposedly get advanced boarding but we did not. It was nice once you were seated you got a cold bottle of acqua panna. During the tour, you will get an entertaining show with singing and interpretations of the monuments/buildings you see. If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions please let them know. My favorite part of this all was the tea tasting, souvenir cups, and the to go boxes you receive for the food you didn't finish. Currently the tea party on wheels is only offered in NYC, Philly, DC, now Atlanta and Miami coming soon. Two ticket options luxe is $125 and regular is $85. If you look on social media in most captions it's a discount code mentioned. read more
