Their Bulgogi is spectacular! Even though the place is small, it has a very friendly feel to it. The food presentation was better than some of the korean restaurants I went to. Definitely one of the best Asian fruit cake bakery!! The fruit cakes are light, fluffy, not too sweet, but also not bland. I also love their fruit bingsoo (pictured). I'm not the biggest fan of the bubble tea here, but I go here mainly for the cake so I do not mind. The varieties included sausage and veggie, herb, green pea, lima bean, etc. They also have a large selection of hot, cold and sweetened bubble teas. I choose a green tea ice cream. They other flavors were vanilla, chocolate, coffee and maybe strawberry. I adore my ice cream, and this was just and smooth and cold as the rest, but it was missing something. The sugar maybe. It was exactly as it said it was, green tea, but to me green tea alone tastes grassy. I sort of expected it to have a hint of green tea flavor. I had about half and that was enough. I always have a great experience here. They have a lot of baked goods and drink options. I tried the bingsu which was sooo good. I had never had a dessert like that before but it was so delicious. I also tried their lychee bubble tea which was also good and more on the slushie texture side. If you buy a cake some are topped with fruit. With the purchase you also get a small pack of candles and a big plastic knife to cut the cake. The box they put the cake in was excellent for transport because it had handles at the top. The baked goods are pretty good. I stopped by a couple times and have had a their tiramisu which is phenomenal! I'm not, however, too crazy about their bubble tea or smoothies. They're too sweet for my liking, makes my stomach hurt, I assume from the amount of sugar that is used. So I never get their teas. read more

I wasn't expecting much when I pulled up to the cafe, but it's so cute inside. I initially came here because this is one of the only places in Columbus that sell bingsu, but I would love to come back again. There was a cute seating section with low tables. I have a soft spot for this bakery. Nothing is better than tucking into patbingsoo on a hot day, and this is one of the few places to get it. This delicacy starts with a bed of shaved ice topped with fruit, sweet red bean (don't be scared, it's good), condensed milk, and a scoop of ice cream. A little different, a lot delicious. I got the Chestnut filled bread (amazing!!), Sweet Potato filled bread (it was a bit off somehow....), baked Croquette (yuuummmm), and Soboro (a plain bread with sweets decorated on top. I also got their red bean mochi ball that was just made. As for the bakery good goes, it was yummy, I'd go again! I haven't tried any of the teas, so I guess I should go back for that, too, but what I really wanna go back for is their Paht Bing Soo (shaved ice with red bean, fruits, and condensed milk) and their kitchen food items!!!! Hands down, the best Korean bakery in Columbus, imo. I've tried just about every bun on the menu and some of my faves include: red bean/lima bean/green pea paste buns, kasutera (custard) bun, butter cream bun (yes, you read right), and the chestnut filling bread. The cakes keep me comatose for a while, but it's worth it. There's actually a distinct green tea flavor (matcha?) in the green tea cake! One cannot fathom my happiness upon discovering this. No more FAKE, sugar infused, green dyed sponge cake. TZB offers the real stuff. Oh, and give the delectable Korean version of the sweet potato cake a try sometime :). I can't comment on the tea selection since I've never had any there, but I can say that they have one of the best bing soo (shaved ice and sweetened red beans topped with ice cream, sweetened condensed milk, various fruits, and chewy jelly bits) in town. It's big enough to feed 4 hungry people or one very dehydrated individual. The calm and serene ambience make it a good study spot, as does its spacious atmosphere. Free wifi for those who are glued to their laptops 24/7. (*cough*) One can choose to sit at the regular tables or at one of the Japanese tea tables; personally, I'll opt for the latter. Prices are reasonable for the most part although some may say that the cake prices are a little steep. For the quality and freshness that you get, I still say it's pretty fair. This was a very good find. It's a cute little cafe where the atmosphere changes every few steps, and yet it all ties together somehow. You enter into the section with broad tables and seats, with enough room to spread out books and papers and your laptop and spend some time working while you're sipping and nibbling. Then there's the bakery section, kind of like a miniature convenience store of wrapped baked goods. And a little dining section with sunken tables, not exactly separate but a bit set off from the rest. Would be the place to sit if you're there for slurping noodles with others. I ordered at the counter and got dragonwell tea, noodles, and the wifi password. I was the only one there and found the table and benches perfectly accommodating of my sprawl. The food came on a very nice tray, the tea in a mug with a lid. It was all a notch classier than you usually get for counter service. Of course they know their tea. Dissenting opinion in 3, 2, 1 ... My experiences with Tea Zone Bakery & Cafe has been really hit or miss. For a simple tea experience, Tea Zone is a great place. Order any of their teas and you're guaranteed a good product. However, the bubble tea is less than acceptable. I ordered a Banana Bubble Tea and was a little horrified when I noticed the buckets of flavored powder in the back. I thought it would be a smoothie, like at Pochi. Or perhaps tea with some banana flavored syrup added. My drink tasted like banana flavored water. And the boba was flavorless. If you want bubble tea, at least stick to the tea-based bubble tea and stay away from the fun and fruity flavors. And by flavors I mean powders. I also bought a "Mocca" roll. Reading the ingredients, which Tea Zone is nice enough to post, I saw that this was a coffee flavored pastry. I can't resist coffee flavored pastries. I was hoping for a rich mocha taste with the cream in the center of this roll. Instead all that I tasted was butter. Maybe not even real butter, I'm pretty sure it was just Crisco. Unfortunately the strong butter taste was too overwhelming and I didn't finish the roll, but the cake part was delicious. I am willing to go back to Tea Zone and try the food - and I really want to try the shaved ice. I feel in love with Asian style shaved ice after a friend brought back syrups and a shaved-ice-making-contraption from Japan. I hate giving this place 2 stars. The food and bubble tea was a 1 star experience - but the owners are so sweet and the interior is so nice and welcoming that it (and they) deserve 4 stars. A few menu changes, recipe changes and some serious thought into using real fruit or at least syrups with the bubble tea, and Tea Zone Bakery & Cafe could easily be a 5 star location. read more

The female owner is incredibly nice & friendly. Not a huge selection of baked bread, but its still a good amount. I would skip out on the smoothie though. This is my very favorite place for cake in Columbus. They offer the most unique fresh fruit on top round cake. I'm not a big fan of those heavily buttercream rich cakes. One bite of those, and you've had enough. The Tea Zone cakes are not like that at all. The fresh display of fruit such as strawberries, Kiwis, pineapple, mandarin oranges, and topped with a cherry serve to sweeten the cake. This gives it a subtle sweetness that won't overwhelm your tastebuds. This shop provided our wedding cake at an extremely affordable price. Was disappointed with the black tea boba. I was expecting REAL tea but it lacked flavor and came out frothy like the others that are made from powders. I live nearby and go for the bubble tea. They make it in the iced/smoothie style mostly but will add the bubbles/pearls to their regular iced teas if asked. (I sometimes ask this depending on the day.) The best thing though is the couple that runs the place. They are just the sweetest! This is such an adorable mom & pop place. The tea house is run by an Asian couple, and they were sooooo nice. I was greeted immediately as I entered, and the other owner gave me good advice when I was undecided on my drink. I ended up choosing their boba tea,l. However, I think their best sweetened hot tea is what I will choose the next time I go. This definitely is a viable study space. They have soft ambient music playing the in background, and it's usually not crowded like a Starbucks. Best of all, they have Asian baked goods. These sweets are too overpowering in their sweetness, and they definitely compliment the tea. They also sell whole cakes too. Personally, I have not tried it, so I cannot speak for the cake. However, my guess is that the cake (as with many Asian desserts) are much lighter (in terms of calories, fat, and sweetness) and fluffier. They usually don't give you that "heavy" feeling after a normal slice of cake. Unfortunately I'm from out of state. If I lived closer, I definitely would pick up a whole cake to try for a special occasion. Also, the tea and baked goods are a fraction of the price at Starbucks.
