She went into her appointment while I waited in the waiting room/seating area. As a nurse, I was ready for a modest wait, but I trusted that the staff would bring my family member back out to me. Unfortunately they discharged her to the hallway. She was found, fortunately, by a woman in the building who walked her from one office to the next trying to find where she belonged. Thank God for this woman. My family member could have wandered away, become lost, walked into traffic, been injured or assaulted. Horrific that these staff members, who know her diagnosis, dementia, know that she has family sitting in the waiting room, dropped her into the hallway. Absolutely unacceptable. Doctor's offices and their staff are legally responsible for their patients. Recently I met with Dr. Dorriz and for the first time in a very long time I felt like I was finally in the right place to find real help. All of the doctors I've been referred to have all been very nice and have tried to help and have led me to Dr. Dorriz as their own area of specialty didn't hold the answers. I was amazed at the time and care Dr. Dorriz spent with me on a personal level. Although he spent considerable time reviewing test results going back 20 years and digging for more information by asking questions his attention wasn't just clinical. It was clear he wanted to help me, the person. The test and symptom history was only part of it to him...and it felt great to have someone take a real interest and feel heard. I'm excited and hopeful for the first time in a long time. We're just getting started and I don't expect miracles as I know I've already had attention from some great doctors who have really tried...but I am excited to feel like I'm in great hands with a doctor who really is deeply interested and really cares to help me find real answers. The office staff is seriously disorganized, and unfortunately it shows in how patients are treated…read more The staff often appears frustrated and unhappy, and that attitude gets taken out on patients who are already dealing with stressful health issues. Dr. Chang reviewed my sleep apnea test with me over two months ago, and together we selected a CPAP machine. Since then, I have heard absolutely nothing. After multiple follow-up calls, I was repeatedly told that the delay was due to my insurance company not approving the equipment. When I contacted my insurance directly, they informed me they could not authorize something that had never even been submitted by the office. On top of that, the patient portal constantly has problems, making communication even harder. Sleep apnea is a serious medical condition, and delays like this can directly impact a person's health and quality of life. Patients should not have to chase down basic medical follow-up or discover on their own that paperwork was never submitted. My advice: pick up copies of your exam results and consider seeing another pulmonologist.

My review is for the front office and management, as I was not able to see the doctor. I called to…read moremake an appointment and provided all of the information that I was asked for. Shortly after hanging up the phone, I got a text from the young girl who scheduled my appointment. She asked me to send her a copy of my driver's license by replying to the text, which I promptly did. On the day of my appointment, I arrived at the office 15 minutes early to fill out any additional paperwork. The girl answering the phones was busy making an appt for a new patient which, as I already knew, is very time-consuming. There were two other staff members present, but apparently none of them were trained to hand me my new patient check-in forms because they told me I'd have to wait. So finally, around 15 minutes later, the young girl was done with her phone call and able to check me in. The only problem is that I was not on their schedule. Not only that, but they didn't seem to have any record of me at all. Had I gone to the wrong office?? I scrolled through my texts to find the one requesting my license, in which the girl had stated her name. I said "isn't this you?" Yes, it was her and I was at the right place. Why am I not on the schedule at the time we discussed?? According to the young girl, she never received the picture of my license (which, from my end, had been sent), so she cancelled the appointment. No follow-up call requesting my license again. I don't even think I got a call letting me know they were cancelling the appt, although they had already set the precedent of communicating by text, so it would've been appropriate to send a follow-up text. When I pressed her to find out why there was no follow through, she said that she only works there part-time, so there was no way for her to follow up with me the next day, as it was her day off. Now, I don't solely blame her. She was obviously rather young and inexperienced and was just doing her best. But what a terrible lack of management that there are no procedures in place to handle this kind of thing! And what kind of establishment just cancels an appt after I obviously wanted to see the doctor, based on my initial investment of time in scheduling the appt?? I had already waited a couple of weeks for my appt, and I was in a tremendous amount of pain due to a pinched nerve in my neck. On top of that, they had wasted another 20 minutes of my time since I had arrived at the office for my appointment. The best they could do was to apologize and offer me an appointment in another week or so. No thanks. At this point, I think the appropriate thing for the doctor to do would be to see me that day. I understand maybe he was completely booked. Then he should stay late. I would've come back at the end of the day. I had already arranged to have the afternoon off from work so that I could be seen by him, and I find it inexcusable that the office is run in such a way that the staff just cancels appts because of one small piece of information missing. They demonstrated a total lack of consideration for my time and circumstances.

He is one of the "old school" physicians who cares about his patients, beyond simply typing upon a computer screen during the visit. (Like my dad, who was also a physician for obviously many years, he still uses the charts, with hand written notes, and test results within.) I highly recommend him, as he makes sure his patients have the tests they need, and responds quickly once receiving the results. Also, like the "old school" physicians, he visits his patients when they are in the hospital for other health issuses, when he is doing rounds within that particular hospital. His patients are important. If you need a neurologist, he is sincerely is the doctor to see.
