My wife had the Veggie Lover's Delight ($12) - with roasted red and yellow peppers, red onion, lettuce, tomato, and cucumber, served on sourdough bread with a goat cheese and pesto spread. Their refrigerator cases had the makings for a simple picnic to an extravagant spread -- and everything in between. It's called the Village Butcher because it also is a butcher shop in addition to selling sandwiches. There is no inside seating, but there is plenty of outdoor tables. It was BEYOND--so good with a healthy amount of spinach and flaky, not greasy puff pastry shell. We salute you! (Last year we had a mushroom turnover that was equally impressive despite not being straight out of the oven.) The egg & cheese breakfast sandwich was a little more dull in comparison--still good, but could have used more seasoning and pizzazz. Anyway, we think it's probably better to come here for lunch to get a heartier meal because sandwiches seem to be their thing. We're looking forward to trying one on our next visit. If you're into Vermont craft beer, Maplefields has a great selection. I needed coffee and this Maplefields had the most impressive selection of Green Mountain Coffee I've seen anywhere. We are from CA so I went inside to grab a drink and ask them to turn on the air. Shelves were a little empty and I didn't find a drink I was interested in. Vibes were off as well. When I asked the staff they said it was $2 for air and then asked someone else who said it was $2.50. After filling up at the pump, it was actually $3 for the machine, which isn't a huge deal, but when I started putting air in I realized that the gauge was so rusted you couldn't read it. It also stopped when I was on the third tire. When I did get in and check the pressure, it hadn't changed at all. So we paid $6 for nothing. It was pretty annoying and I just can't recommend this place. Keep driving.
